Skyline Drive, VA - 60 Miles in Ten Minutes (Timelapse)

- Borrowed my roommate's GoPro and headed up to Skyline Drive. This stretch of Shenandoah National Park's own scenic highway is between mile markers 30 and 87 (southbound).
The autumn colors are breathtaking in the Park this time of year. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this! We are taking our motor home down Skyline Drive in a couple of weeks and you have given me an overview as to what to expect. I really liked when you paused for a moment at some of those gorgeous views! BTW, that second song was great. I never heard it before so I opened up Soundhound and identified it ( Building Downtown ) and just purchased it from ITunes! Life is good!! Thanks again!!

johnchangatl sorry i just saw this.... and i'm not entirely sure, since i can't find the original files. however, if you're wondering what the best day is to go up on skyline drive, i can tell you that it varies from year to year. temperature and rainfall throughout the year (and many other factors) determine when and for how long the leaves turn color. the best advice i can give you is twofold: first, go up during the week if you possibly can (it gets real crowded on fall weekends); and second, the leaves on skyline typically change 2-3 weeks sooner than the leaves in my neighborhood, due to elevation and temperature difference, i think. whatever the reason they always turn color sooner, so keep that in mind.
i guess this advice won't serve you for another 8-9 months... but you can always go up on skyline in the spring-- equally beautiful and pleasantly warm as well. good luck!
