    Welcome to the Tamiya Extra Thin Meets Thumb Club, Max! It's happened to me more than once, and results in a blue cloud surrounding the work bench. Although I've been very good about not buying new kits and concentrating on reducing the stash, I think I'll have to get that kit for a quick build. The Pan Am decals sealed the deal.

    The trick to using a hypodermic needle to apply glue is to ignore the plunger except to load it. Once the sringe is loaded, touch the needle to the point. Capillary action will draw the cement into the joint. Presto!

    For the water thin glues like that, get a Flex-i-file 'Touch-n-Flow' needle. its a glass tube with a super tiny hollow needle. I used mine for years with tenex-7, THAT was great glue which i guess gave me cancer, since you cant get it anymore. It can manage the tiniest amount of water glue. great product, I've had mine for years.

    As to the SPAD ( A-1 Skyraider) missing parts.
    You can scratch build those two parts.😊 Use styrene rod and sand narrow each end till it looks like the one for the other landing gear part. Same approach with the other part. Start with a length of styrene square/ rectangular and remove plastic to the same dimensions in the picture

    SLOT CARS: Auto World makes reproduction modern Thunder Jet and the original AFX chassies with traction magnets. Good cars but require some work and tweaking to make them run well Their track is compatible with the RaceMasters AFX track. RaceMasters AFX is the modern continuation of the original Auroura companies slot cars. They make the Mega G + chassis which is a very modern altrnative to the clasics. VERY fast right out of the box. Both companies bodies are excelent when it come to details and mostly are backwards compatible with the original ThundrJet and AFX Chassis of the 60's and 70's. This doean't even come close to covering the Cottage Industries out there now making chassis and bodies that would boggle the mind!

    SST kit is a nice model. I remember building it back when it was released by Monogram. Prototype was insane, no idea where they planned on it flying. Close to 300 feet long. Not sure about the runway/terminal requirements. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.

      Plane was supposed to fly at Mach 2.7. Did they even consider the issues of residual skin temperature on getting passengers and luggage off the plane when it landed? The blackbird has special mobile scaffolding to get the crew off after a mission.

    • @robh7421
      @robh7421 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nope. Just get more expensive. I can't believe what they cost now. With much better products out and available now a days. The 1/4oz testors was $.14 when I started building. Now if I'm lucky, $2.99. But I still like the cement.

    • @scale_model_apprentice
      @scale_model_apprentice 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @robh7421 This is true. For a dollar more, you can get Tamiya paint. But if I was starting out a new modeler. I'd still have them use Testors enamels. The drying time will help teach patience, I know it did me.

    • @maxsmodels
      @maxsmodels 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      excellent

    • @robh7421
      @robh7421 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @scale_model_apprentice this is true, but other enamels are available. I agree lacquer or acrylics definitely dry much faster, but teaching my kids to build, I'd rather see them get more paint for the money and allow them to use them on more kits. Not to mention since I do use primarily Mr. Color or Tamiya paints, they're already available. I do like the testors products. But the bang for the buck just isn't there anymore. That's all I was saying. And im not sure what tamiya or Mr. Color go for down there? But here theyre the exact same price as testors now. For half the paint. Hope you guys are doing well! I don't see you on your channel much anymore! God bless!
