    Really great not to have to listen to loud and intrusive rock muzak, incessant chat and just to be able to enjoy the ambient sounds of the river and wildlife!!. The peace and quiet is what makes me feel I'm sitting next to you on the bank, you fish in a very similar way to myself, so please keep on making videos this way. If you wanted to express your pleasure at catching a fish, or commenting on the river conditions that would be fine, thanks so much for these lovely films-well done, (sorry I don't know your name). Just one question, are there more lice on the fish than previous years and should they be removed I wonder??Cheers and tight lines!!.

      @silentangling 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you Peter for your kind and positive words and thank you also for your time in watching. The Silent Angler is all of us and is merely the thread that pulls the story together. I personally feel I can say more with the clips I film than my voice could ever express. Thank you again and I look forward to sharing my " art " with you in the near future. Regarding the lice situation, I reached out to professionals to get advice on the lice situation and until then I decided it was best left on the fish. I shall update with any information if and when. The general opinion of other local anglers is the situation is getting worse probably due to water quality and fish stress.

      @@silentangling Thanks for your reply, I have fly fished the Wye a couple of times for salmon,(and chub/barbel) and as you probably know, when they come in fresh from the sea any sea lice will usually drop off in a couple of days after being in fresh water. I have seen salmon anglers remove sea lice with a quick scrape of a fingernail, I am thinking the lice on barbel are a different strain?,would be interesting to know what the experts say. We all hope that discharges can and will be reduced/stopped in the future-whether the pollution events have an effect on the lice situation I'm not sure. Having fished the Warwickshire Avon over many years, my best barbel of 12.5lbs and others i caught as far as I know had no lice on them, so maybe the problem is only on the Wye system?. Tight lines anyway,cheers.

      @@peterlocke5204 Agree with alot of what you've said regarding the lice. I'm in the planning stage of a flyfishing film about the Mountain lakes of Snowdonia which might be of interest to you. You never know the Silent Angler might even be on a river by you sometime next season.

    Have you ever had one of the drennan wide gape specialist hooks open up on you? Was thinking of a change of pattern and these look good.

      @silentangling reason I ask is I've had drennan super specialist open up slightly when playing barbel. The wide gape specialist look a stronger shape. Do you lose many fish using barbless?

    • @silentangling
      @silentangling 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Accyboom Hi, I do tend to play fish quickly and maintain tension and can't remember the last time I lost a barbel, I've lost the occasional chub if they find sanctuary in a snag and pike as they tend to drop a bait as I only use single barbless. I prefer barbless across all my fishing as they'll fall out of a fish and me very easily and I rather loose the occasional fish that leave a hook in a fish. Hope this helps and thanks again.
