      Agreed, Propel is good. Perhaps make it a combination title, "Propel: Changing the Way We Move" or some such. Or a logo to differentiate the channel from the shop.

      Agreed. Propel is actually a beautiful homage to the industry of micro mobility in general. I don’t think there needs to be a separation. Part of purchasing from your shop is purchasing from someone who is advocating for change in the way the national sees and handles micro mobility. It’s actually why I like you guys.

    Please don’t lose Propel name. It’s a great brand, is broad enough to cover many forms of mobility, is simple and memorable. It will still allow you to do all the things you’d like to do. The channel is great. Keep up the good work!

    Propel is beyond words my favorite bike shop, TH-cam channel, and group of people in the bikes-as-transportation world. The inspiration that Chris brings to the space is infectious, and I'm thankful to loosely be part of the movement he's pursuing. My platform is little to nothing compared to yours, but please always consider me a tool in your toolbox for spreading the message, education, and content across our country wherever I can help.

    Your behind the scenes takes on the industry, breakdowns of components and gear and focus on urbanism / mobility is why I follow you. Anyone can review bikes, but you have brought a unique perspective of how to USE these devices in your daily life including the technical and social challenges that come with that. Hope to see more of this type of content in the future, thanks for what you’ve created to date and good luck with your future endeavors!

    Propel is the reason our family didn’t buy a second car. We do school runs, grocery and cross city tours on our cargo e-bike - we even prioritised bike path access when buying a home - all because of the open and honest content you create. Keep it up, don’t change the channel name, introduce new faces to the channel and enjoy the growth. And thank you.

  • @raymonde4272
    @raymonde4272 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Keep Propel as the name. It is perfect and still relevant, it means moving forward which is what both the channel and content will reflect as you broaden to encompass the culture and technology of e-bikes as a whole and not just New York or the shop.

    Bicycles/tricycles "cargo" "FAMILY" bikes going to become HUGE in popularity!
    WHY?
    Economic expenses are severely heightening, war possibilities are increasing, and
    increased marketing of E-assist cargo, and FAMILY cycling products!
    Would be SO beautiful to see new, now existing cycling options actually EQUAL automobile usage!
    OH, YEAH!!!

    Don’t change the name. ‚Propel’ is just a fun word.
    And it’s transparent to say the channel and shop are linked.
    I don’t see a conflict of interest in you selling specific brands in the shop but also covering other products on the channel. What’s wrong with openly communicating “We sell brand/product a,b,c for reasons x,y,z , but this is a different brand/product that’s exciting or different for this or that reason.” ?
    Tara being in front of the camera is also a good idea. She has a great, fun energy, probably brings a different perspective on certain things and she’s cute and knows it 😅

    Chris, I'm glad you asked, You have a history of opening the eyes of city government and nudging leaders to understand the value of e-bikes.
    How about;
    -Performing interviews with pro e-biking government officials.
    -Update e-bike legislations that is either pro or anti biking.
    -Highlight cities that are offering rebates.
    In addition, please include subjects that may include traditional bikes as well as e-bikes;
    -Show how easy bike locks can be defeated.
    -Show technologies and methods for protection and for the recovery of a stolen bike.
    -Visit Virginia Tech and make a video showing how VT test and rated bike helmets.
    -Profiling individuals who finds orphan bikes, performs repairs and matches owners in need of a bike.
    -Highlight small time Ma and Pa non-cooperation bike shops that are important for the local community.

    The Propel name is strong with regards to subscriber numbers. You havent focused on the shop much and your broadcasts have included a wide range of subject matters e.g. Netherland’s cycle culture and infra structure. Other things to include could be what is current and what is coming e.g. battery technology - I hear that battery technology means that apart from being smaller and more efficient (more miles per kw) they will also be safer and will use safer materials. Good luck with the new broadcast and Tara will do a great job, she will learn about being in front of the camera just has you did. I look forward to seeing this all come together. Best of success to you all.

    Thank you for all of your efforts getting to this point and for sharing the process along the way. The Propel channel was a breath of fresh air when I was initially researching electric bikes, battery technology and safety, motors, etc. I had gravitated to the Bosch systems and the Tern GSD when I came across your channel, but I was looking for much more than just buying a bike...I was looking to change the way I thought about transportation. The depth, quality, and transparent honesty of the information you share was what I needed. Keep up the great work as you and the industries you work in...mature. P.S. Tara's filming and editing skills have certainly elevated the quality of your videos but she has also demonstrated a natural charisma in front of the camera. Helping the industry mature, I think, is what is really important and which you have the unique ability to do. I really want more e-bike propaganda, I think you should work on incorporating more discussion of policy and organization, as well as individual ebikers and how their lives have improved due to infrastructure improvements. Do not change the name to move differently by propel. I think propel is an extremely catchy name for a small specific news channel and I think it’s better that it’s tied down to something real like a Brooklyn bike shop; just creates a place for physical community around the channel.

    Definitely would appreciate more coverage of micro mobility. Bikes are great for many use cases but micro mobility can be much better in others. Micro mobility is also not as far along in the "acceptance" phase where most devices are still technically illegal so it would be great to have more community involvement to figure out better ways to classify devices, etc. ie. the Class 1, 2, 3 system seems out-of-date at this point and we need something more general and all encompassing to make sure things are safe but accessible to many forms of transport

    I love the content so far.. I am looking for biking cities. I am als a veteran , i wouldn't mind seeing some of that content as well as more interviews like the Emeryville mayor. Why change the name? maybe another channel with other content , but I belive you should keep your branding.

    agree with others, keep the name.
    love the branching out into manufacturing and other micro mobility.
    would love too see videos on the how to's on the way to get regulations changed or who's doing what in what city/state/province.

    I hope all your endeavors will be highly successful. Are you opening a store in Detroit? I would love to see Propel here in Cleveland, Ohio. We don't have an electric bicycle store here. Only Trek and Specialized sell e-bikes here.

    As someone who grew up in Detroit and formerly worked as an engineer for Ford, I’ve been skeptical of the term “mobility” since it first started getting popularized. It has always seemed like a euphemism used by the auto industry to describe the next generation of automobile-centric culture (ride sharing, EVs, CAVs). It worries me, since I don’t think cars - even EVs and CAVs - are the future. I’d love to hear your take on this

      Pretty cool! I agree that the term mobility is often misused and confused. I agree with your sentiment and I think human scale transportation is clearly the future.

    5:16 I know this is going to be a niche opinion but I would love to see more about bike policy/advocacy and running an organization. I want to get involved in this fight to using advocacy and believe that you all may have unique perspectives on the matter!

    I'm interested in news/trends on bikes that affect normal people doing normal things, as opposed to "this is the latest thing meant for people who want to spend $10K on a new bike" or the latest racing news (hello, most of us are not racers).

    Keep the name. It is a great name. I loved watching your takes on urbanism, and that's more what im into watching on youtube in general. My suggestion is to start another channel to separate either the urbanism talk or the shop talk. While it is great that you do both, i consume urbanism content whenever an interesting topic comes up, while the ebike content i only consume when im searching for a new bike. While it doesn't seem like you are searching for channel growth, separating the two general topics should at least help give you and your message greater reach.

    hi, there used to be a mountain bike magazine who had a youtube channel (www.youtube.com/@Bikemagazine/videos) where they would bike tests and annual bike test and that was kind of cool ( my perspective ok) they stopped but the editorial line could be done on electric bikes form with your point of view. Keep on moving and creating good content, good to see tara out of the cargo box filming.

    Some analysis of the effect of the pandemic on bicycles. Here, in Olympia, Washington, for instance, with huge demand, two bicycle shops inexplicably went out of business. It seems that the inability to import bikes from Asia and switch to American made was just too much. And how can that be corrected? Oh and the remaining bike shop, is focusing on high-end race, mountain and road bikes. With a few electric and almost and no cruising style bikes to speak of.
