Great Justin! I found this really interesting and I loved what you done with the b-roll parts, historic information and the personal element: watched the lot! Are you filming in HD 60fps?
Thanks John, I’m a real novice with the camera so won’t pretend to know what I’m doing really. It’s an iPhone 7 and I just point and go. It’s the first time I tried cutting in photos and maps, which is still basic, but seemed to cut together ok and also add to the story. I will research the HD settings and do a few tests before the next vid. Oh....and I’ll charge up my battery properly next time!
John, iPhone 7 films 4K at 60 fps. I can’t see any way to change settings so that must be how I shot. Don’t know if that is good or bad. Some of my vids are really clear HD, others appear less so. May I ask which bits in my vid lead you to ask about this? I will study them and try a few film tests. Did you notice the picture quality and motion to be good or bad? Thanks for the feedback.
@@JustinWhiting9 hi there. The motion isn't a problem and the quality will be fine as it's HD. When you upload a vid to youtube it makes multiple copies at different qualities and the higher quality ones can take a wee while to appear. When you play a video back youtube checks your download speed and plays back the quality of vid best suited to that connection so it will stream more flawlessly and not be buffering all the time and pausing. You can manually override that by clicking on the three dots in the top right of the vid (on a mobile, bottom right on a computer) and clicking on the 'quality' tab. There you can see all the qualities available and if you want manually select a higher one. This is only for playback each time right enough as youtube doesn't allow you to force a certain quality to be played back every time. If you upload a vid in HD and it's not on the list yet, youtube will still be processing it in the background and it will eventually show. Depending on how you upload vids this can sometimes take a few days.
@@JustinWhiting9 What I am noticing is some glitching in this vid. The first time I see it happen is around 1:06 at the monument. I've found that my phone does the exact same thing sometimes if I record in FHD at 60fps. I suspect it's the processor not being able to handle the recording at that level if the phone has just been woken up or something. That's why I suspected you are filming in FHD at 60fps.
@@JustinWhiting9 It's easy to fix though and you shouldn't get any glitching at 30fps. Go to Settings > Camera, tap either Record Video or Record Slow-mo, and select your preferred resolution from the listed options. Pick 1080p HD at 30fps. Films are at 24fps and have a cinematic look. 30fps is what most online stuff is at. 60fps gives more of a reality TV look. I'd only record at 60fps if you are going for a specific look or are recording sports, or want to slow it down for slow-mo stuff. 30fps vs 60fps does not make much of a difference for what we do unless we want to capture fast moving things. You'll probably not notice much difference actually apart from when you are planning the camera around quite quickly and 30fps will give a more smoother motion blur effect which can be a nice look. If you are doing slow pans of landscapes etc you won't notice it much. Maybe give it a try and see. So basically your vids are in HD but if you watch them back on your phone you will probably see a lower quality one unless you manually select a higher quality one. That's the same for everyone's vids on TH-cam. I don't think you have any problems with camera shake and the little that is there gives a sense of movement, which is good as it gives context...like you know, you are walking etc. Your pans are fine as you do them nice and slowly. It's just that glitching that I noticed and that's your phone and not you. Set it to 30fps at 1080p HD and you'll probably find that goes away. If it doesn't and your stock footage looks fine then it will probably be the settings on your editing software. I'm no expert but I hope that helps!
Great video Justin. We have recently moved near Brewood and I'm hoping to do some walking not 13 miles though! Haha 4 or 5 will be more my style as I've just turned 70.
Nice one David! Lots of lovely short walks around Codsall & Brewood, especially along the canal. Take a look at my other vid through Brewood village and all the way to Wheaton Aston and back to Codsall. Even longer! Happy birthday! 👍 🥾

Nice vid, good editing and well done keeping the camera shaking under control. Nice story of Charles II and I look forward to your next vid!
Thanks CamoCowPlayz! Getting better with the camera and editing....slowly! More vids to come over Christmas. 👍
