Richard, glad to see you have some current videos on Dowina. I became aquainted with Erica at Dowina 4 years ago. I currently have 2 of their guitars, a walnut/cedar and a Master built made of Guatemalan Rosewood/Bear Claw Spruce. There are no other Acoustic makers here in the U.S. that compare in quality for the price. The Custom Master I have was designed by myself and Erica. From the selection of the woods to the Flamed Maple binding and beautiful abolone around the rosette and binding. Truly a special instrument, hand voiced by Stan and built by the team with great care and detail. This is the rare time I have ever purchased a guitar without seeing and playing it first. In both instances I was not disappointed and any expectations I had were fullfilled beyond what I hope for. Not only is the guitar a one of a kind, it came in a special Italian case that fits like a glove. I am in process of facilitating the addition of Dowina Guitars to a very special shop in Saint Louis Mo so that others here in the U.S. can experience what I have. I enjoy your passion for these and other luthiers.

The big 3, Martin, Taylor and Gibson, have dominated the market for so long and have had so many of their fans brainwashed that it’s become the norm for them to churn out overpriced guitars that are nothing to shout about. I hope the likes of Dowina and Furch dont make the same mistake.

Woo hoo. You're back on the Tube. More of your rambling, disconnected but honest, passionate videos please. You have been missed.

Richard, who's to decide what's mad in the crazy world that we are living in. I for one have missed your videos so it's good to see that you are back.
The only reason that I know anything about Dowina and Furch is through the videos that you have put out. It's very clear I am not a guitar expert; however, it strikes me that these two brands nearest equivalents might be the customs shops of the 'big name brands'; perhaps in car terms this is really an attempt to compare a Ferrari with a Ford that's had a fancy paint job. Both cars will get you to a destination but the experience on route will be utterly different.
So persuaded by your enthusiasm for Dowina and Furch and with a very understanding wife I decided to visit you shop last week to try them out. My wife's brief before I set out for your shop last week was that I could get a new guitar but only if it really excited me. Well, I am now poorer in monetary terms but when my new Dowina Paduak GAC arrives I'll be 'spiritually' richer in so many ways. When I played simple cords on the guitar, the way in which it projected and the way in which the guitar body resonated felt almost like it was reaching out to me to give an embracing hug; an incredible feeling. This will probably read really badly and seem stupid but it is what it is.
I haven't tried out hundreds of makes of guitar but I am convinced that the Dowina's and Furch's in your business are exceptional and very worth considering by those who wish to decide for themselves what they want and have no need to follow the crowd or a brand name.
Good luck to you, Jon, Jake and Chris and thank you.

Hi Andy. I jcannot thank you enough for this feedback and actually it makes the video so worthwhile as I do hope it backs up everything you would have hoped I felt about the brand you have invested in. My video shows just how much these guitars mean to me on a deeply personal level and everything you have experienced in terms of your visit to our shop - is exactly what I would wish for every person. Obviously I am so happy and grateful that you actually bought one too. Oh my - the Padauk - you probably know - That was STANs (Erikas Dad) very highest recommendation to me personally based on the purity and power paduak gives. Anyway - thank you on all counts. I really do see you "get" what I am trying to say - its so much more than just another guitar and I cannot wait to get Erika on to chat about Dowina - and I hope to get some of the gang from the workshop to discuss their roles too.

I think getting your team on the videos would be a good idea, they are a good bunch. Perhaps a Dowina workshop flow to you, to customer experience and on to point of sale and after sale service might work if it's possible to keep that tight?

I have a nylon string Dowina and steel string Dowina OM. They are beautiful guitars, resonant, sweet tone, dirty-depending how /what I play. If you are looking for a keenly priced quality guitar, take a good look at Dowina. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. In October 2023 I decided to upgrade my guitar and did a lot of research. I gave Dowina a try, and Taylor guitars among many other big names. Dowina won...more bang for your buck as they say.

Hi...I'm so glad I watched one of Richard's videos about Dowina guitars. I bought the Ceres model and I am amazed by the quality. I have played Martin and Taylor guitars that were priced at more than double what I paid for the Ceres model and it kicks them both out of the park. The other amazing thing is I have written a lot of pieces and songs on it that I never did with other acoustic guitars. There seems to be a mysterious connection going on when I play it. I have since bought a nylon strung and a parlour size both by Dowina and they are stunning instruments. I would seriously recommend Dowina guitars to anyone looking for a quality guitar...you will not be disappointed. By the way the guys at Richard's guitars are very very helpful and are very knowledgeable and will look after you whatever you decide to go for. A big thank you to Richard for introducing us all to Dowina guitars !!!!!!!!!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to write this. The more people who can witness experiences like yours the more likely they are to support the brand. They really are a hidden gem but can't help feeling there really is more momentum than ever in terms of people being awarre of them and hopefully I have played my small part in that too. They really do make my every day a joy and you are totally right about that connection.

Richard! It’s a pleasure to see you’re back! Well… let’s get started. This is what I have to say.
As a passionate guitarist, I’ve had the pleasure of owning and playing guitars from Lakewood, Dowina, and Furch. Each of these brands offers a unique experience that stands out in the crowded guitar market.
Lakewood: my M-18 and A-35 Custom are remarkable instruments. The M-18, with its clear and balanced tone, is perfect for fingerstyle. The A-35 Custom, on the other hand, offers a rich and warm sound that’s versatile for various music genres. Lakewood’s craftsmanship is evident in the attention to detail and the quality of the wood used.
Furch: I own a G-22 CO and a D-22 CM. Both are excellent choices for serious musicians. The G-22 CO, with its cedar top and ovangkol body, provides a soft yet articulate tone. The D-22 CM, made with cedar and mahogany, offers a more traditional sound with plenty of warmth. I appreciate their great playability and robust construction.
Dowina: The Dowina Master Class Padauk and Acero stand out for their exotic woods and exceptional resonance. The Padauk model delivers a bright and punchy tone, while the Acero provides a more balanced and smooth sound. Dowina guitars are IMO a testament to the luthier’s art, combining beautiful aesthetics with outstanding acoustics.
In comparison to the high-end Lowden guitars, which can be quite expensive, Lakewood, Dowina, and Furch offer affordable alternatives without compromising on quality. These guitars are far from mass-produced; they are crafted with care and precision, which is highly appreciated by those who seek more than just an instrument-they seek a companion for their musical journey.
In conclusion, Lakewood, Dowina, and Furch guitars are excellent choices for guitarists who value quality, affordability, and individuality. They are instruments that inspire creativity and bring joy to both the player and the audience.

Yes of course! I promise we won’t let you down and will make sure the experience is one you’ll forever remember! If you call the shop - make sure you mention that you saw the video and were hoping to speak to me. Jon and Jake (both of whom you will love - honestly - just check the latest reviews and they are always getting the most lovely comments) are both completely Dowina mad! Jake kisses daily with the Dowina team on builds. I will be at the Dowina workshop to spend a couple of days with Erika and Stan !!! I can’t wait and am hoping to do some m thjnb special with my time when I am there so everyone can get further insight into what they do. Thanks so much for your incredibly kind words . They mean a lot - thank you!

I’ve always had Taylor’s and do love them as they are characteristically easy to play and have their unique Taylor sound, but I was won over by the story of Dowina during lockdowns and ordered my Dowina GAC Walnut from you.
I cannot say enough how special the Dowina is. It looks superb, sounds amazing, and I love that it’s handmade by a dad and daughter team who love what they do.
I will be building my collection of Dowina guitars when I can afford to so please do continue doing what you do Richard. We love you!

    Hi Richard, that's great.
I own a wonderful Dowina Pure D i purchased from yourself earlier this year.
Honestly i absolutely love it, my guitar teacher loves it.
As a complete beginner it is so inspirational, its beautiful, and the sound is out of this world.
In fact since unboxingbit in January, its played badly by a beginner and ive NEVER to re tune it. How awesome is that.
Im so glad its a truly individual instrument and i love it more for that individually.
The thing with Taylor or other brands and the consistency of construction. If Ed Sheeran is on stage has a pronlem with an instrument another identical construction, identical sounding guitar can be handed to him to play the rest of his show.
Im sure Dowina are more than happy to continue with the love of the wood and the instruments they craft rather than have to increase the amount of output.
Please, please continue as you are both of you Dowina and Richards Guitars.
In a year or two when imbready for an electric there will be one choice to consider my purchase from.
Thankyou again, peace to you all

Hi, I bought a Dawina Ceres HC nylon strung Walnut and Spuce top.18 months ago . What a superb guitar. I have a Beedlove nylon which I have not touched since buying the Darwina. I was looking for a replacement for the Breedlove but could not find anything in the Guitar shops. I came across your site and loved the passion of the of yourself
and the makers of these guitars. The spec' was what I was looking for but could not find on the High St. I loved the sound on the video, so I thought it must sound and feel better in the "flesh" and it does. The guitar has matured over the time I have had it, being all solid wood. So if your budget is £1000 plus and there is something that meets your spec's, you will not be disappointed. You will be buying more than just a guitar .I know what you are trying to get across Richard and that is not easy to do !

Richard, I enjoyed the video and really identify with a lot of what you say.
As yet I don't own a Dowina (but maybe aspire to in the future) but I have been fortunate enough to buy 2 guitars from you (Cort & LAG) after visiting your shop.
Both occasions were such positive, joyful experiences and everything you say about John is spot on. The whole team is amazing and honestly, I wouldn't buy a guitar from anywhere else.
I have an inner smile when guitar players I sometimes come across dangle their Taylor's or Martins like designer emblems of their perceived superiority. I am confident that £ for £, I know who has the best value for money. Having said that, would I love a Dowina? The answer is, yes of course but for now I relish what I already own and appreciate the experiences I had in buying my 2 "babies"
Keep doing what you do because its so refreshing. 👍

Hi Richard i bought a Furch from you 18 mths or so ago and i love it. I think my next purchase will more than likely be Dowina. I would love to try the various models, sizes with the different woods etc. which will mean i will have to book a time when those guitars are available to play in store. It also means I'll have to fly over from Ireland as i would love to experience your shop and meet Jon who looked after me when ordering my Furch Yellow GC CR. But as always you were instrumental in facilitating the sale with your will to please me and make it happen. Thanks again for that. Your video has just awoken my lust to play these guitars and hopefully order one. I just think I'd like to get one before the prices go up due to the popularity once the word gets out. Keep up the great work.

Have a Furch Red and a Custom Dowina HC,
      Both brilliant guitars.
Dowina guitars are built heavier than Furch, but they still manage to sing, very interesting!
My local luthier (Matt Kersey) was impressed how active the top and back was.

    Hi Richard!
It's been a while for sure. These guitars sure look beautiful... So you're saying you can order a custom built one for roughly 1400 + depending on materials you'd wish I'm sure. I've heard of this brand however I've never played one but I must say the figured ebony bridge, and board and even headstock veneers look spectacular. If I take a trip on over to the UK I'll definitely be making it a point to come in your shop and meet you Rich.
    Thanks.

Hi Richard Dean here. It's great to see you again. Yes we forgive you for dishing Martin n Taylor. Your completely right to argue the case for Dowina guitars. I did pick up a dowina cocabola 3.
Very beautiful guitars. What dowina need to do is a little advising in a couple of guitar magazines. We need you back showing off every single dowina coming to the shop. Especially limited runs of special woods with super crazy grain. I wonder if they could build a madadi dreadnought with d45 styling. Get these guitars regularly on your channel. TH-cam is free advertising. They should do an in depth factory tour. You could go over to Europe to do a video of their factory. Good to see ya lad. Best wishes Dean

Having already been convinced of the exceptional quality and value of Dowina guitars by your previous outpourings I bought a Walnut Sol GAC about 18 months ago. I can honestly say it has been such a pleasure to play. Its a beautiful thing, the tone is remarkable and it just encourages me get better.
Maybe you shoud compare apples with other apples rather than oranges? i.e. Compare Dowina to other hand built guitars? But how they can produce them at the price points they do is mystery to me. I hope they can continue their good work and make a decent living out of it.

Dowina are the MOST TALENTED, Helpful, accommodating and the most caring group of people, who will and DO personally help and assist you in building your own ‘Dream Guitar’ to your own personal choice and specifications. I worked closely with Klara at Dowina, after being linked up with this magnificent lady, through Jon at ‘Richard’s Guitars’ …. She’s a very talented young lady and an integral member of the Dowina family team. I am very grateful for being able to be part of the experience and the end result is absolutely fantastic - 👍🫶👌👏👏👏❤ 😊 I am and will always be proud and very grateful to be part of the process and journey that has built my Dream ‘Parlour’ Guitar in (Full Gloss Finish) Beautifully Grained Macacabau back and sides, Swiss Moon 🌙 Spruce Top and incredible attention to detail on the finish and fine tuning by Tusik, prior to shipment to Stratford and then to me, via another great 😊 day at Richard’s Guitars, with Jon and Jake ~ THANK YOU 🤩 Dowina Slovakia 🇸🇰 (Especially Klara)

    Nice one Richard!
True passion is obvious and contagious! I quite agree that the 'mainstream' brands meet many demands, but there will always be a demand for the unique and special. It is obvious that demand may outstrip supply at times, but if you have the true passion you will be prepared to wait.
With regard to the Dowina 'Business Model', I see a clear similarity with Fylde Guitars. Both make instruments which are entirely hand-built by true craftsmen/women with genuine and uncompromising passion. Such instruments have a life and feel which cannot be matched by mass-produced models - No matter how good they are.
I think you are doing exactly the right thing, and the demand/supply ratio is still viable. If the demand starts to increase at too fast a rate, either Dowina would need to change (bad idea) or waiting time will increase - possibly beyond what people will be prepared to wait.
    Stick to your guns matey.

Enjoyable and enthusiastic video but...the only problem I see is that any company which becomes more popular and has to produce more of its product to meet a higher demand, then often, the essence of the company that fueled its rise is lost in the growth and it just becomes another brand name in the marketplace. Look forward to the video of your visit there and maybe hear their views on the way the company go in the future. Just discovered your channel/shop and enjoy your honesty in what you are trying to achieve, take care and good luck.

Hand on heart that’s exactly why they won’t be doing it. I’ve been in the industry 29 years and seen it happen to so many - even my own business that I closed down 18 years ago or so - for the same reason. I was deeply depressed as providing the service that I was once so proud of simply was not possible on the scale we were growing to. So - that’s how Richard guitars began - only selling what I love and nothing else! Even doing that pushes you toward certain limitations!!! Life is always a balance !!! Thanks for your input and interest!

Another aspect is that buying a Dowina is supporting a local industry, probably a family (?), rather than a giant anonymous industry and its shareholders, where money is the driving factor. Also, going out on a limb, something made with love by a human being must surely have a "vibe" about it.

  • @1man1guitarletsgo

I work in sales (my product is high-end engineering equipment), and a particularly harsh phrase that comes to mind is "winners focus in winning; losers focus on winners". You see this in TV ads, when supermarket "A" announces that it matches supermarket "B". Which one is the winner? (it's "B" AKA Aldi). It seems that at this stage in the Dowina journey, there's a preoccupation with the leading brands; trying to persuade people that the upstart is as good, and cheaper to boot (which I'm sure it is). The point is, even _mentioning_ another brand invites comparison and suggests that you're aspiring to be as good as that brand, making you the "loser" focusing on the "winner". In my job, I simply do not mention competitors' products. Instead, I focus on what ours do well, and our advantages over traditional products and methods. Once the technical evaluation's been done, price is secondary, anyway. So, without naming any other brand what's so good about Dowina? Playability? Individually voiced tops? Choice of woods? Each one made to order? Sound quality? Ease of maintenance? Roadworthiness? Consistency? Price? Value? If your marketing efforts only ever aim to pry people already loyal to a major brand away, I fear all you'll do is persuade them that that's the brand to buy, because you're inadvertently telling them how good it is.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think there’s a massive difference between you - your world and what you are talking about and if this were merely a “sales pitch” it would be very poor. As it’s not - maybe you’ll excuse the difference in approach. My world is information - education - honesty - integrity -advice - passion - creativity mmmmm I think that’s it. The “sales” are merely a bi product of the above. One of my roles in education - believe it or not - is to help people understand that what they know and understand is based on a very specific lens. I am giving people - through education - a new or alternative lens. If you have a problem with that and you’d rather be ignorant to what I have to offer - which I offer free of charge and you have the opportunity to watch or not - then I suggest you shop with the winners who sell guitars for winners. Does that sound fair and reasonable? I hope so.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop

As for theory that by discussing alternate brands I am inadvertently helping them sell their brand … you really believe that? I am trying not to laugh as I’m hoping you meant it in good faith but no… this isn’t the case.

I dont want to tell you how to suck eggs but I think youd struggle to call Pepsi a "loser". I dont follow ANY "model" - beyond my own gut feelings, experience and knowledge that everything I do is well intended. However - for someone in a sales background , it could be argued I was doing what you will see in this link www.investopedia.com/terms/c/comparative-advertising.asp#:~:text=Another%20highly%2Dreferenced%20comparative%20advertising,has%20been%20aired%20since%201975.

@@RichardsGuitarshop Thank you. I did say that the phrase is particularly harsh. I wish it was worded differently, but it isn't. Also, your Pesi analogy isn't correct, because both Coke and Pepsi are the leading brands. If Mrs. Miggins' Cola kept banging on about Coca-Cola, that might be a better comparison. Anyway, I was thinking about your marketing strategy for Dowina. How about saying _"Dowina Guitars: custom shop quality at mass-produced prices"._ This encapsulates your argument in a single phrase that does not give the leading brands any leg-up; in fact, by saying "mass-produced", it's a slight put-down, implying that the main brands are just churning out guitars.

But Dowina arent the equivalent to Mrs Higgins Cola - I appreciate you trying to be helpful but if you look at my website - all my video content - I focus very much on what they do - how they are special - and I dont want to come across as anything but humble - but being the biggest dealer in the World for Dowina - Possibly the same for Furch and one of the biggest dealers in Europe and definitely the biggest in the UK for Eastman - and when I was a Tanglewood dealer I was the biggest dealer in the UK - and when I was a Faith dealer I was the biggest independent dealer in the UK - I am the biggest dealer in the UK for Vintage & ProShop - I have sold more Gordon Smith guitars than any dealer on the planet - can you see a theme here?...... I THINK that could possibly be evidence enough I know a thing or two about my trade? I picked one up in Czech once. I went into a shop and bought the best sounding < 300usd guitar i could find. It's my easiest to play guitar. The strings feel like they are much easier to push and are vibrating more freely for some reason. (I don't think the scale length is different at all).

Great video, the edits and style don't matter a jot, I sometimes wonder where you are going as I think you do too but it doesn't matter as the message is sincere and you are trying to communicate what may not be fully communicable - I bought a Dowena tribute to mahogany guitar a year or more ago from you and it is a beautiful guitar and I feel so much better owning a guitar that is unique and not mass produced. My advice is to take the trip to Stratford upon Avon to look at the range and brands Richard has to offer.

Dowina makes outstanding guitars! I watched your videos about them during covid. I live in the US and it's difficult getting a Dowina here. However, I came across a used Dowina Padauk Dolomite Spruce that someone bought from your store while on vacation. They brought it back to the US and sold it a year later. It was a beautiful awesome sounding guitar. The craftsmanship was excellent. The only problem was it was Padauk with a open pore finish. I didn't know at the time that Padauk can produce a white power like substance that leaks through the wood. Rubbing alcohol removes it for a few days but it keeps coming back. So I ended up selling a great guitar. But this wasn't Dowina's fault. It's a by product of Padauk. I contacted Erica at Dowina and she said the would refinish it for free. Outstanding customer service. Unfortunately when I looked into shipping it back to Dowina, postage was over $900. So if you buy a Padauk guitar from any manufacturer beware than Padauk can produce this while substance that slowing spreads and looks moldy. Especially in a satin or open pore finish. I have a Furch gloss Padauk that I've owned for 2 years. No problems whatsoever.

I've yet to buy a Dowina - I'll be looking for a small body/OO guitar very soon, and it's likely to be a Dowina, Eastman, Furch etc. In terms of "legacy", it would be nice to think that these fabulous instruments will gain the same kudos that Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Lowden have, and I can leave them to my grandchildren when the time comes. Meanwhile, I just want the best instrument I can afford. So I'll be seeing you soon!

I bought a lovely Eastman from Richards Guitars, however, I just want to get good enough, to begin the process of having a Dowina. I look at it that Creativity is part of our DNA, music is a universally understood creative language, creating a guitar the way Dowina do, is a process of loving creativity; not a factory, robotic jigsaw build. There is no comparison and none should be drawn. You are either sold on the glossy marketing and 'Influencers', or you tread the path-less-trodden.

Richard - so good to see you back on YT where you think you don't belong - but do! the Dowina dilemma seems to me to have a solution down a route that I am sure they will not follow. Lowden spun off a facility with great people, great technology and tied in with a great singer songwriter to produce larger quantities of guitars that try to capture the essence of their inspirational and visionary founder's knowledge of materials and design and guitar form and function. I can't be a judge of how successful that is, but the core company remains with it's core philosophies and capacity to build fewer, hand-crafted instruments to its standards and to satisfy its loyal and aspirational client base, and benefits from the spin off brand feeding back a stream of clients well into it's future. Dowina could do something similar, I cannot suggest a similar personality to tie into, but we can all make suggestions?

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Mark - Kind words and thank you SO much. Sadly though, I can give you direct experience of what happened with Lowden. Lowden approached me to be a dealer - something that I was never 100% comfortable with because I always personally select instruments based on history - but it was a massive honor to be asked and I was very happy to work with them. My personal experiences with Lowden were mixed - and the Lowden tone was never my "personal" favourite but no question there is a strong demand for their guitars and I felt it was healthy that I had a brand that may not be my #1 choice as its actually very challenging doing what I do!!! Now then..... Then came the Sheeran guitars - We had MASSIVE demand - and from memory I had 50 customers waiting ? Bottom line is it was the scariest experience of my life - With tens of thousands of pounds of orders involved - what i received was unsellable. They collected all 30 of the first delivery - proceeded to brush this issue under the carpet - I told them they had to deliver the guitars directly as I woudlnt be held responsible for the quality control based on what I had experienced. Now obviously they COULD have sent me the second batch in the improved quality but they refused on the basis that they were over subscribed and I would have to now wait until they had more made. I cancelled the customer orders that hadnt received guitars - closed my Sheeran and Lowden account. End of story. Sooo..... but to give you an update on this - I know Erikas heart is in the custom shop side - creative side - So I think Dowina will ultimately become the "affordable" custom shop with more limited options - and then I would love Erika to work with me and other dealers on introducing another brand that ONLY makes bespoke custom guitars with their original Dowina brand continuing to be hand made but to a more standard specification. Thats my dream .

OK Richard. I know where you're coming from. Dowina as we know as i now proudly own one as well.
Dowina don't want to change and become mass produced. Actually i get that, and love it as well. These larger companies, we all know who they are boast that their guitars are also hand made etc.
I would class Lowden as hand made, hopefully i am not wrong. I would look at the marketing to work around Dowina, and try and get these beautiful guitars into some of larger artists hands , regarding endorsements etc. Something like the way Lowden started off.
It could be sold as they continue making their guitars as designer, and that people have to wait for their guitar, knowing that they're going to get a top class properly hand made guitar at the end of it.
I see so many times the unboxiing of guitars in particularly American guitar stores, every top brand that you can think of even Furch etc. But no Dowina guitars. These people need to know who Dowina are. They need to be utterly supprised like we once were of holding, and playing one of these beautiful instruments for the first time.
Hopefully more people will have that opportunity this year and onwardsl.
Good to see you back on TH-cam again Richard. 😊

what's the problem - Dowina make guitars that you want to sell and you can sell as many as they can supply, already, you have virtually no stock (I just checked Parlour models), so you are doing fine, little capital tie up and good cash flow; they are selling everything they can make no problem and can recruit and train staff and run a business they are comfortable with, producing their product, and quality, at a profit, at a lower price point for s given specification, than the big companies; and those who buy them are getting a good, maybe great instrument to make music with, that is better bang for their buck, but they may have to wait for it, and have restricted choice as to which specific model/spec is available. You have other brands you are happy to sell so hopefully you can make most of your potential customers happy most of the time and have a business you are happy with and staff who are happy to be with you. In the meantime I need to play much, much more to become a better player, using what I have, and if I outgrow my Alvarez then hopefully by then I can afford something better and sure I'll look at whatever you have available at that point. But Dowina can't become Martin, in the same way Martin can't be the same company they were between the wars, or post WW2. Things always change. If wishes were horses then Wombles would ride. Best wishes A

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

What makes me smile (in a kind of painful, banging head against a wall kind of way) is that you are even suggesting they "cannot compete". So just to be clear - Dowina can only produce a couple of guitars a DAY - and have NO interest "competing" as you call it. They do what they do - and if anyone wants to ignore an opportunity i am offering of an experience that is completely unique to that of whatever brand you are thinking of - then Dowina isnt for them. To suggest they can't compete though due to resale value couldn't be less true and in fact they are without question an investment at a time when mainstream brands are struggling to justify their prices. Dowina guitars will only RISE in price over the years to come as people learn about the ridiculous value through word of mouth.

That doesn’t alter my assertion. We aren’t living in a meritocracy, and I didn’t mean my comment to be disingenuous, I’m merely stating a fact, which, though unpalatable, is part of why so many of us (myself included) are disappointed in the realisation that ‘effective’ consumerism is a function of brand loyalty, a frustrating situation which favours the owners of the means of production. I own a Martin 00028, an OM16E, and a GPC4A, and a Gibson J-45. These are all exceptional guitars; I’m a working musician. At present it’s important for me to know that I have a potential resale value of 10k, part of my emergency pension, if you like. (I’m 76 years old) It’s part of the reason why I made those purchasing choices. You can’t discount these kinds of personal imperatives

There is really very little point in me breaking down your career and pointing out where you could have saved a huge amount of money (IE your outlay would have been £5000 less) which I believe would meet your criteria of looking after your investment? Your guitars are tools of the trade - so lets say you have been using them for the past 20 years - You have had 10k of gear tied up for 20 years? As a working musician your instruments will be well used - another good reason to invest not in a premium brand that you are paying for the name - but an instrument that gives you everything and more the instruments you have bought but at a fraction of the price. Like I say - If a customer came to me saying "I am a working musician and here is my list of guitars I have selected as my #1 options - and it was your list - I would provide them a list of alternatives highlighting how and why I recommend them - would save them thousands - and the resale value wouldnt even be relevent as so much more money was saved at the beginning. The choice would be yours then to do what you want with the help and advice and make your own mind up what the right decision is. As I say - I would never dream of saying my opinion is better or more relevant - but I will always support my views with indisputable facts and then you can compare those facts to your own.

Whilst they certainly aren’t copying Lowden I can see the natural look is more that way than a Taylor - but the amazing news is yes - they can make anything that you choose and I have a couple of guitars being made for right now which are so unlike what I would call their normal look - which is more along the lines of top end bourgeois . However - as I say - you tell what you want it to look like and that’s basically it 😊

@@RichardsGuitarshop I would like to have a guitar which enables me to write such beautiful songs as Bob Marley, Otis Redding and Roger Waters did

    Hi
Dowena guitars, fantastic instruments, too cheap to find a place in the market
As a guitar seller you would never agree but you say it yourself in your video, Dowena guitars are an experience, not a mass produced product. It simply isn't possible to provide that experience for the same cost or cheaper than the mass produced product. You can for a while but eventually something will give and you will be destroyed. This is true of any business, If you sell yourself cheap it's because you don't believe in your product enough to sell at the right rate and if you don't believe in your product how are. going to convince a potential customer. It costs money to provide a great product, if your customer doesn't pay that price you pay it yourself, there is no one else to pay it.
