Bear is a tie, deer goes to Martin, caribou also goes to Martin. I treestand hunt in northern MN for whitetail, best advice I can give is to try drawing back on a deer that you're not going to shoot and aim at it as long as you can hold your bow, this helps with number 1, knowing what you can get away with as far as movement, number 2, knowing how long you can hold your bow in case a deer turns on you and you need to hold at full draw for awhile, and number 3, helps with your aiming process/gets you to think about where your arrow is going to exit the deer. For whitetail I like to hold almost as close to the shoulder "knob" as I like to call it, that's where a deers heart is and if the deer ducks you're going to hit lungs, if he doesn't duck you're going to hit him perfect in the heart.
When shooting quartering away shoot for the opposite side shoulder of the deer. That’s what I have always learned. Also, when in a treestand, you always want to try and move when the animal is looking away or moving its head. I have a learned that Whitetail ( I live in PA.) can bust you pretty well once they spotted you in the tree. This can be because they skylined you or saw you move and they usually know that it was something that is a danger too them because trees don’t move a whole lot, while brush and vegetation can give you a little more concealment with movement because they move with the wind. Hope this helped. Good luck this year.
You want to bend at the waist and keep your draw arm and T shape consistent. When shooting from a stand you aim higher to imagine where arrow comes out. The closer your target the smaller the kill zone. This video is great practice for you guys.
I just enjoy seeing someone else shoot left handed.
Both great on the bear and bad on the caribou. Eric wins with the better shot on the deer.
I hunt from tree stands all archery season in WI. I prefer to stand over sitting, just feels like it gives me greater mobility, but at the same time you are making your profile bigger and may be spotted easier. I don't draw back with the bow horizontal and then tilt down, too much movement. I already have the bow tilted to roughly the angle I need.
I never practice sitting down because I always stand up or try to
I've practiced sitting down but always end up standing anyways
What I do is I practice sitting down like you talked about most of my kills have been sitting down in my stand and I mainly use a climber but the thing with moving with your hips is true that’s how I do it I’m not completely even when I do it but I would put a stand up some where and practice shooting out of the stand itself
Most of the time when shooting up hill your arrow will drop a little more so u would want to aim a little high, when u are shooting out of a tree stand shooting down a sloped hill the arrow will drop more too but if you are in a tree stand shooting at something on level grown you may shoot a tad high when they are close up, but mostly everything will be the Same I’m a big whitetail hunter, let me know if u need any tips, Good Luck!!
Sweet setup!
I tree stand here in Northern MN you are right on the level then bend at waist....if you hunt in late season on tree stand remember you will get a lot colder then your spot and stock hunts.
Awesome video It’s always so fun to shoot 3-D targets. I’m gonna have to say Eric won the first two and then Martin won the last one once again great video!
Guys..I love your new bows...but my ole Hoyt Razortec is just as quiet if not quieter and my grouping is tight up to 50-60 yards and seeing those awesome new bows but at the cost 1700.00 or better, just can't justify going new to shoot equally to what I'm shooting now, and have killed many deer with my setup, but to you more fortunate people I hope the best for you and this season. GOOD LUCK
I can hear you clearly.
If you’re hunting from a tree stand and wearing a harness, you should practice drawing from different positions. I’ve been restricted several times by my harness so it’s something to keep in mind. Great video!
This has happened to me before too. Lots of times.
Loving the Phone Skope zoom on your shots! Helps a ton to see whats going on! :D
We just had the pivot with your hips conversation today at a big 3d shoot, I'm a firm believer of that method, works for me, another guy does the opposite, bends over first and draws up or down to his anchors. Whatever works for you is what you do 😊
I bend at my hips, never use too and my accuracy was sub par but after practicing and when a deer is coming into range running the steps through my head my accuracy has drastically increased.
One useful tip that I have seen new tree stand hunters fail at it shooting for your exit hole.... the steep incline of being up in a tree can sometimes make you be deceived and often people will shoot too low. Aim for where you want your arrow to exit, and it will help you a lot. Another useful thing if you have the ability to, is to hang a tree stand in your yard and practice different shots, around the tree, sitting, standing, etc... it will make you much more comfortable when the time comes to actually shoot at an animal. Practice being sat down with your bow hung, and slowly pick up your bow and get into position to make the shot.
Also range land marks (trees, stumps, trails) and you’ll know what distance is without having to range when the deer comes in
tree stand tips,
make sure the sun isn't gonna be in your eyes and the more its behind you the harder it is for deer to see you
practice sitting cause soon as you sit down deer will run right to you.
get a bow hanger that will get your boy as close to your hand as possible
and just practice getting in a stand quiet and sitting for hours and hours, go before season and hang a stand some where you aren't planning on hunting and practice slipping into the stand and practice trying to stand up and move when deer are on you and learn the limits of what you can do with out getting busted!
Hey man, when you are in a tree use the equation a=[c2-b2]. What that means is that "a" is your horizontal distance from the base of the tree to your deer if you will, and "b" is the height of your treestand, and "c" is your diagonal shot distance. If your treestand is 5 yards high, the distance from the base of the tree to the deer is 12 yards and the diagonal shot distance is 13, 13•13=169, 5•5=25, 169-25=144, 144 /12= 12. So shoot for the distance from the bottom of the tree to the deer. I saw this tip from my state 's wildlife agency.
The shots Eric first 2 and Number Three , I'm gonna have to just take my own shot . Lol .
Thanks for showing real shots at actual range. Not just the best group of the day, like most social media posts.
The bear is too close to call. The buck goes to Eric and Martin gets the Caribou. So, it is a tie to me. Good job guys
What size pins do you guys use for your sights?
Great video! For the competition: For the bear, Eric got it, for the deer, Martin, for the caribou, I'd have to say Martin. Just my opinion lol. Great shooting!
Wait for all the comments the realize the title
well as on my profile my buck as seen I spot and stalked him but when in a tree stand you need to aim higher because of elevation.
The slow mo shots you took on Instagram were awesome. Got to see how those AAE Hybrids work in the wind with that crazy helical.
Hout rx-3 never heard of that one must be a cousin to the Hoyt rx-3
Eric, what bow case are you using for your RX-3 in this video? Looks pretty sweet.
Nice shooting boys, best of luck to you all in the upcoming season!
Here's a question, have you ever shot or used a thumb trigger? I've noticed a lot of you guys down there are wrist index shooters, I just started using a Carter 1st choice 3 finger coming from a trudie max hard core hook style, and absolutely love it. Your thoughts?
Who else came in from outside practicing shooting and had a notification from hush shooting 3D targets ? Eric you would be jealous , I have 2 acres 4- 3D targets sorry none are elk but I can shoot out too 180 yards more if I wanted I usually don't go out past 100 . But I have tryed to send KC message and invite him over to shoot . As I live in Idaho.
But yes tree stand pull back level and bend at the waist
It’s always good to make sure you have good backdrop covridge while in a tree stand so they don’t skyline your movement, and make sure you trim up you shooting to where you have just enough to shoot out of and not a big gap, and also make sure that no branches will hit your bow cams while in the tree👍 good luck
For me practicing out off treestand is keeping your feet closer together.
good practice fellas!! Lots of wind for sure. Im in Florida so there's definitely not as much wind.
Hey Eric,
Nice video with the close-ups of the targets 👍
One question: what rangefinder lanyard/tether are you using? I am currently using my rangefinder without a tether and it is a pain.
Thanks in advance. Keep the great content rolling 😉
My bow is on order, about a week out now I can't wait to start practicing
The bear is a tie in my view.
The buck goes to Eric.
The Caribou goes to Martin.
So it would be a tie all around.
Agree!
good luck on your velvet buck! i'm going for my first velvet soon to!!!!!!!
bend at the waist when shooting from and elevated platform/ tree stand. not doing this will cause high shots. great vid. Thanks.
What bino harness are you wearing?
Fist bumps 👊👊👊👊👊, high fives/pats on the back ✋✋✋✋✋, extra thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍 Pets ❤❤❤❤❤, treats and tummy rubs.
Where could I get the hush vein from my arrows at?
They are on their website. Hope this helps.
I ain't letting that alaska comment slip by.... make it happen guyz🤙🏽would be epic
"If I could have a property with 100 yards and an elk? That would be sweet!"
Literally say this all the time haha and I haven't even hunted elk yet! My local course has a bull target where it's the only one we can back up to 70 yards to shoot at, so I'm saying this all the time.
Burn baby burn disco inferno, no wasps/bees this time 😂
Bend at the waist and when shooting bend ur knees to keep ur angle the same as when on even land. Luv the vids
You should look into saddle hunting.
Are those “helical” vanes?
I’m shooting warrior arrows now but I want to switch to Easton or a different company but my bow is all setup and I don’t want to re sight it all back in, if I get the same grain arrows from a different company will they fly the same
Same spine, grain weight, and diameter then should be little difference, maybe some fine tuning
Eric, absolutely love the hard work you put in for all us true fans. Questions totally irrelevant to this video, but would really like to know if you are hunting my home state Oregon with the "bro" crew this year? Hope to hear from you.
Eric bear, Martin deer . No idea caribou
Love the Phone scope footage more of that please!
🤣 The “Hout” Rx-3
Where did you get your cord for your range finder what I do from a tree stand is draw back and just drop your pin on the target
Great video love the target shooting videos keep up the great work
Start packing the Apple's to your tree stand closer to the hunt, I find the deer turn from the lick to feed give them something they need food wise .. good shooting guys ..
Tie on first Eric second no one on the last tied
These vids are cool.
They were all pretty good shots except for the caribou remember Eric aim little lower on longer shots animals duck in real life
Remember a deer can drop its body size and three tenths of a second .when I shoot. When I shoot out of a tree stand any deer within 20 yards I put it where I want to hit them if they're over 25 yards I aim a little lower to compensate for the animal dropping and I'm shot a lot of deer at the bow. Keep up the great work love the videos
Heeeyyy...you fixed the typo👍👍
Dang I was so close
Call up Randy Newberg and find out the mics he uses. Great in the wind. Please do that for us
Nice shooting
Martin edged you out on the Caribou Eric.
Nice video guys hey Martin what up bro 👍👊👊👊
'Merica for the win!!
Hout? Someone's getting fired😂😂
Martin takes 2 out of 3 I think 👍
You guys are freaking awsome i wish i could meet you
Oh, it's a tie for sure.
What is the weight Of your arrows?
Eric you got my vote..
That new brand "Hout" looks promising, nice bow!
Tips: shave the rest of your dome
And obviously this would all be determined by a rangefinder.
I am ready to go on my first bow hunt this year
Good luck man
Thank you
Hope you the best of luck this year also
Martin wins!!
Wanting to start hunting, any tips for my first range finder?
I am still young but I never had a range finder until two years ago and I still just guess. My advice is don’t spend a lot on one just yet. I usually don’t have time to get mine out range the deer then put the range finder away and then hope the deer is still there then shoot. I would say range some trails when you first get to your stand ( if you are stand hunting) and then just get good at guessing yardage. Hope this helped.
All waist from any elevation.
49 day till September 1st!!!!!!!!
Good on ya EC. Keep up the great work mate
Eric
Tip #1 always shoot a PSE BOW !! 🏹 🐗🐐🦌 ☠️ LoL! Just kidding hush life‼️🇺🇸
Martin wins just barley
Haha misspelling of "hoyt" great advertising... good trying to be JOE ROGAN of hoyt over here...
Typeo
What’s a hout..? 😂
Are you concerned about accidentally consuming cwd meat?
