It was such an underrated film. I never knew the part about how the studio blew the marketing. That film should have been a much bigger film for everyone. It's one of my favorites from the 70s. David Warner: one of the best all time villains in films! Malcolm one of my favorites too and his career should have been even bigger than it was!
They could have been a comedy duo like Laurel and Hardy. McDowell could have played the funny guy and Warner the straight man. McDowell could tell his stories about Stanley Kubrick and Warner about Sam Peckinpah.
I love this movie very, very much. Malcolm Mc Dowell is a great actor, he took my heart away !! I cry every time, when he kneeled begging for her life.
For years I thought I was the only one who was in love with "Time After Time" it's such a charming movie and I had the biggest crush on Malcolm. David Warner is great too, as is Mary Steenburgen.
I love the bromance between David and Malcolm. Their relationship goes back to 1964. David is so modest and happily takes a back seat to Malcolm. They're so lovely together and the mutual respect and admiration are even lovelier. The charming way they call each other 'darling' and 'love'. Malcolm is hilarious and David loves just listening to him talk about acting, filmmaking, and show business in general. I could listen to David's beautiful voice for days on end. Time After Time is a fantastic film that everyone should see.
This is brilliant! So uplifting and surprising to watch. The two of them clearly have a deeper understanding of each other and don't take ihe surroundings too seriously. My sensory memory of first watching this film in 79 is full of adventure. I had to take a ferry across the Mersey river in NW England. as they never screened it in Liverpool and I knew it would be something extraordinary and special as I was subscribed to a sci-fi film magazine called Starburst. It was well worth the trip and the film more than delivered and has stayed with me well into my adult life. I only wish Nic or Mary would have been there, I have a feeling that maybe that dynamic would have been too much for Malcolm. It's easy to forget watching the film what an unusually sensitive , against type-cast, performance Malcolm gives considering his track record of sociopaths with If, Clockwork Orange, Brittainia Hospital and Caligula. Greatly appreciate the upload. Cheers! Made my day.
This is a great film indeed (and anyone watching this who hasn’t seen it, SEE IT) and we watched a tatty VHS copy over and over as kids. Malcolm and David, you guys are both always going to be wildly cool and incredibly sexy. Thanks for the good times.
nice to see Malcolm and David talking about time after time , remember seeing it at the cinema way way back on its release in 1980 ,really good film for its day and still stand up well against many of the tripe film studio's churn out today .
Malcolm walks in and is immediately the coolest person room. lol - This was great to hear them both talk about one of the great time travel movies,. I can't help but think that James Cameron must have been influenced by Time After Time when he made little robot movie.
time after time was a darn good movie, but more than a movie to me. it was a life memory. 1) it was one of the last movies my mom took me to see in a theater before i got too old to go to the movies in a theater with.... my mom. 2) a 12 year old boy fell maaaaaaadly in puppy love with mary steenburgen.
Just to have a chance to see these (2) very Talented Actors on stage Together is really something to witness. I have Loved them Both and I will always cherish the way they acted on screen and gave us many memorable moments on Film.
Loved the Time Machine 1960 with Rod Taylor and wondered if there were other 'time' films. I took a chance on this when I saw it on VHS. Of course it is a different story but with many connections, but it is a really excellent film and great cast. Love the 3 main characters, the story, the interactions, an absolutely wonderful adventure. Love this reunion, fantastic interaction between these two old friends. David Warner is magical, love Malcolm too of course.
I saw this at a sneak preview in New York. It got a very enthusiastic reception from the packed house. I thought it was going to be a smash, the next "Star Wars." So much for my market judgment! The Miklos Rozsa musical score deserves a full share of credit for both the menace and the romantic warmth of the film.
I love that he and Mary met and married on this film. At the time I was in a really screwed up difficult relationship that was never going to work, and wanted so badly to be in a love that happened like the one in the movie. One were you didn't have to work at falling in love and moving forward in the relationship. Eventually I did have that in my life but not with the person I saw this film with.
Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen had believable chemistry in *Time After Time (1979)* . No wonder they hooked up. Saw the movie on Qube probably five times, in Columbus as a kid.
This brings back memories of when I first saw this movie decades ago on an old ex-rental betamax cassette tape on an old betamax recorder. I would love to be able to get my hands on a DVD quality version of this movie.
Loved this movie, also in the same year he starred in The Passage, playing another evil bastard. Time after Time had a personal effect on Malcolm because he fell in love and married his co star
Time After Time, The Terminator, The Highlander, Dracula A.D. 1972-all have a plotline of a guy pursuing a bad guy across time-though The Highlander, Dracula A.D. 1972 haven't got time travel in the plots. In Star Trek 7 Malcolm McDowell also plays a scientist experimenting with time (though his goal there is to get to the Nexus). A Clockwork Orange made McDowell a sci fi man.
Damn, I wanted the gossip! Whatever it was, they were hedging around it, dropping hints then David was like "NO we won't go there!" What happened on that movie set that had them both going all coy!!
I guess having Mary Steenbergen there would have been a bit awkward. :D So this wasn't marketed well? Heck, I remember most of my friends at high school went to see this!
You actually can see her join Malcolm at "Clockwork Orange/Time After Time Malcolm McDowell Q & A @ The Egyptian Theatre Part 3" Not many have viewed it but it's from 2011 and worth a look.
Neither Rod Taylor's nor Malcolm McDowell's characterizations of H.G. Wells bore much resemblance to the real H.G. Wells. Unlike in Time After Time, the real Wells was not exactly happily married to his wife Amy, but cheated constantly with other women. Time After Time is the only good reboot of the Time Machine. In both films the Wells characters travels to the future expecting humanity to be better then they're disappointed to learn that no matter when they go into the future, humans are still the same.
God, the guy hosting/narrating the thing can't even put two words together for any amount of time. It's actually painful to even listen to him mumble off. Like he has marbles in his mouth.
I never realized how much of a comedian Malcolm McDowell is.
It was such an underrated film. I never knew the part about how the studio blew the marketing. That film should have been a much bigger film for everyone. It's one of my favorites from the 70s. These guys should go on the road as a two-man show, just telling stories about their careers in show business. They are both eloquent and hilarious.
I wish they would just take my money already and make it happen!
Christy A, definitely and it's so obvious how fond they are of eachother. Their repartee is priceless. Fasscinating and a laugh riot.
They could have been a comedy duo like Laurel and Hardy. McDowell could have played the funny guy and Warner the straight man. McDowell could tell his stories about Stanley Kubrick and Warner about Sam Peckinpah.

Two legendary actors - lots of great material in this video!
For years I thought I was the only one who was in love with "Time After Time" it's such a charming movie and I had the biggest crush on Malcolm. David Warner is great too, as is Mary Steenburgen.
I find David Warner's voice somewhat evocative of the late Alan Rickman. Excellent actors all.
Golden.
2 Classic British actors playing up the Stratford 'luvvie'.
Thanks for the treat.
Loved the movie.. 2 truly fantastic actors,,and of course the lovely Mary Steenburgen!
David's voice is so cool.

I always loved David Warner and Malcolm McDowell
Great film. Ranks with the 1960 "The Time Machine." Both films had heart.
These are two of the most amazing actors and they are so funny and witty.
This is brilliant! So uplifting and surprising to watch. The two of them clearly have a deeper understanding of each other and don't take ihe surroundings too seriously. RIP DAVID🙏👍😘🇬🇧
I'M WATCHING THIS AFTER YOUR RECOMMENDATION 😜 I'LL BE CATCHING THE MOVIE AGAIN, WHAT A PAIR YOU ARE!!! LONDON LOVE'S YOU ❤️🇬🇧🧐🙏🗣️
This is a great film indeed (and anyone watching this who hasn’t seen it, SEE IT) and we watched a tatty VHS copy over and over as kids.
Malcolm and David, you guys are both always going to be wildly cool and incredibly sexy. Thanks for the good times.
Nice to see this q and a. Thanks for posting it. Loved the movie.
How in the HELL can he be late to a reunion of a movie in which he played a time traveler? David (the bad guy) made it on time!
just like the movie... he got there first.
Hahaha.. Yeah 👋👋✌✌🌇🗽
nice to see Malcolm and David talking about time after time , remember seeing it at the cinema way way back on its release in 1980 ,really good film for its day and still stand up well against many of the tripe film studio's churn out today .
Stuart Webster 1979 actually
Thanks Mike! I had the pleasure of sitting in on David Warner's panel on Monday with my brother. Hated I missed this one. Awesome :-)
Thank you Mike for putting this up. An interesting and amusing, both highly so at times, Q&A session :)
Malcolm walks in and is immediately the coolest person room. lol - This was great to hear them both talk about one of the great time travel movies,. I can't help but think that James Cameron must have been influenced by Time After Time when he made little robot movie.
That and a particular Outer Limits episode.
This is brilliant, thank you.
Both great but wow McDowell is surprisingly entertaining.
time after time was a darn good movie, but more than a movie to me. it was a life memory. 1) it was one of the last movies my mom took me to see in a theater before i got too old to go to the movies in a theater with.... my mom. 2) a 12 year old boy fell maaaaaaadly in puppy love with mary steenburgen.

Very Good !! A great B Movie that I watch at least once a year. Great interplay between them. David is so laidback for The Ripper : )

Terrific movie.
At 4:22, that interviewer was thinking 'Man, I wish they would have hugged me...'
AMAZING MOVIE
Brilliantly entertaining Duo

Malcolm is so funny.
David seemed a tad embarrassed when Airport 79 came up.
Yeah, even more embarrassed than Malcolm was about Caligula.
Thanks for posting this! I was present for this panel and it was by far the highlight of the con that year.
Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen had believable chemistry in *Time After Time (1979)* . No wonder they hooked up. Saw the movie on Qube probably five times, in Columbus as a kid.
Malcome mcdowell was also a great Mr Roark in Fantasy Island 98 series
My favorite movie
Does anyone recall what became of that pocket watch?
great movie melcom was great hg wells and david warner was scary the acting was brilant
Love this movie!
This brings back memories of when I first saw this movie decades ago on an old ex-rental betamax cassette tape on an old betamax recorder. I would love to be able to get my hands on a DVD quality version of this movie.
14.99$ on TH-cam movies.
Thank you for the video. Two truly great actors, sometimes not able to be as great as they can be. But what the hell...those questions! Awful!
5:31 i think james earl jones has that record previously in 1977 with star wars Ep 4 and The Exorcist 2 the Heritic.
Check some of the Razzie winners. Didn't Halle Berry make Catwoman after winning her Oscar?
These two are brilliant, the new Morcame and Wise
Loved this movie, also in the same year he starred in The Passage, playing another evil bastard.
Time after Time had a personal effect on Malcolm because he fell in love and married his co star
Very nice - weren't they able to also get Mary Steenburgen?

RIP David Warner!!
Glad David was first.
It was a mistake to have the moderator seated between the two actors.
I miss David Warner.
Hey, don’t forget, bring in Corey Feldman in his first Starring roll and Mary Steenburgen!
David is now the nice guy and Malcolm has become the ripper type personality weird
Watch a clock work orange...Stanley Kubrick....Malcolm is the main character.
I feel Caligula is his best movie to date, smh.
I guess having Mary Steenbergen there would have been a bit awkward. :D
So this wasn't marketed well? Heck, I remember most of my friends at high school went to see this!
You actually can see her join Malcolm at "Clockwork Orange/Time After Time Malcolm McDowell Q & A @ The Egyptian Theatre Part 3" Not many have viewed it but it's from 2011 and worth a look.
I just want to know what shenanigans they were hinting at !!
Neither Rod Taylor's nor Malcolm McDowell's characterizations of H.G. Wells bore much resemblance to the real H.G. Wells. Time After Time-John Leslie Stevenson is a sinister Filby, Amy is a San Francisco Weena (Mary Steenbergen even talks and behaves somewhat like Weena),
Why was this reunion held in Atlanta when the movie took place in SF?
+Eric Taylor SF is bloody expensive for conventions these days.
pure gold these two and tom baker should be knighted!!!
You got goofed again?
Marketing... *doh*
God, the guy hosting/narrating the thing can't even put two words together for any amount of time. It's actually painful to even listen to him mumble off. Like he has marbles in his mouth.
Loved the movie: this is lame
Wow, they hate each other badly, hahaha. People are late generally late because, they dont really want to go, lol
9:22- 9:32 Hahaha.. "Margot Bennett✌🗽
