Sony MDP-333 Laserdisc Player Disc Won't Play - FIXED

I ordered this player from eBay as a parts only model. When I got it in, the tray would not open and the laser assembly did not want to lift without assistance. I replaced the belt, fixing the first issues. Then, it was onto getting discs to play. I go over adjusting pots and point out where they are. Thanks for watching!

So far this worked for my Sony MDP-333. I pretty much was dead in the water for CAV discs and CLV discs had a hard time starting up. But this resolved all of it. Only other issue is scanning on a CAV disc causes it to trip out and stop playing. I may have to adjust more than the focus at that point, the tilt perhaps? I have not tried.

I have an MDP-333, which when it works, plays all disc types fine. But on occasion, it'll start makin' this grindin' sound. Seems to happen, quite a lot, if I play a CD after an LD. When I looked inside, the laser carriage was hittin' up against the spindle end. I can often get it to "reset" by cyclin' the power (where it'll play disc again). Any ideas?

Nice fix! I look forwards to the AC3 Mod video as i've heard the Sonys can be picky with really low RF levels that make a lot of normal mod boards not work as they need an amplifier.

Unfortunately this didn't work for my sony mdp-k8. Now the buttons are unresponsive, the laser isn't moving like it was before and the unit is now a doorstop. I put the pots back to their original spot but no good

Was the unit reading and spinning discs prior to adjustments? This is a bit of a different model. What pots did you turn?

@@Laserdiscrepair yes it was, yes its a different model but the guts inside are exactly the same. The Pots i turned are the ones you stated in the video. I put them back to where they were but no good.
