Lee Jung-Jae was a heartthrob "back in the day"? That's no shocker...he a heartthrob now! Suuuuper handsome man. ❤❤❤ Park Hae Soo is also very handsome, but in a totally different way. I really felt the casting was superb and that all the characters looked well suited to their parts. Case in point, the otherworldly beauty of HoYeon Jung was a perfect fit for Kang Sae-Byeok since she comes from a what is basically a whole different world than her South Korean peers. And of course Heo Sung-tae. All the weight he had to gain for the role gave his face a very strong, determined look, perfect for the character of Jang Deok-Su with his unrelenting, unwaveringly nefarious drive to win. Amazing work all around.

I suspected Hoyeon was a model because I noticed there's a pattern in the entertainment industry, if the actor is unknown and young, they're either a singer or a model but I was still sort of surprised. She didn't have the standard "Korean" beauty ideal look, which to me looks like an infantalised version of a woman. She looked like a beautiful woman, not a woman who's trying to look "young".
Tbf, he butchered all the pronunciations for every name. That frustrates me a lot. Not everyone has an ear for language, I get that, but I feel like it’s the least someone can do to make an effort to pronounce names correctly. My dad is hopeless with languages other than English and some Latin plant names, but he still tries his best with the words/phrases he has picked up for my mother’s native language. I have similar problems with my name too.
