Diana, what if we make May into a "May I help you?" challenge? I would REALLY like to be more like Him along with you. Let's love like HE loves and serve like HE serves!
I take care of the plants at our church and local library. It’s amazing how many people are blessed by this and have told me so. I enjoy it because I love gardening! 🙏🏻🌺
I did massage for over 20 yrs. I started by teaching “Safe touch” to abused women and children. They were in control of the massage, I did as they asked and it was ok and they had the right to say no to an adult. I worked with people with aids for free. I would even touch them without gloves as long as all safety protocol was meet. I worked with those who were making their transition. It was an honor to be with them. I was so Blessed. Now that I’m retired I’m feeling a call to work again with small groups of women. I’m not sure what He is calling me to do but I’m saying “yes” and asking for prayers and guidance.
Caring for my Mom in her last months of life taught me so much about patience, humility and God’s provision in the hardest time in my life. It was a privilege.
Thanks for this. I'm a year old widow, parents and sister recently deceased, and this gave me the idea to go to the nursing home for Mother's day. My son's live out of state and so I will be alone. Now I shouldn't be feeling sorry for myself 😊❤
How blessed your children are to have such a good and wonderful mother. Thank you for bringing these beautiful children into the world and for being such a good example for them. I will pray for you and your family as you strive to serve your family and others.💗
I lost my parents to murder suicide after years of domestic violence in 2020, which led me to get involved in my local domestic violence shelter. I serve on the board and headed up their domestic violence programming committee for a while. I’ve also participated in their Christmas program for kids that have been served in their program for many many years and now gotten my kids involved. I have also provided several different holiday meals to their shelter, volunteered with their annual fundraiser the past two years, and provided birthday bags for their shelter and another local organization providing for foster care children and their families. Lately, I have had it on my heart to help them with social media, which I have done a little bit in the past, but not on a big scale. I have also recently started volunteering with a local pregnancy crisis center and life skills program in their nursery. I have always told the domestic violence shelter I get as much or more out of our relationship than they do. I needed it and still need it, but it is hard now with kids (I didn’t have any when I initially got involved and now have two.).
Visiting the shut-in I care for a family that are shut-ins and no one comes to visit them. They belong to a church but no church members come out to visit so I think that is such a great need
Raised 5 children & finally got to retire!!! Feed lunch to homeless once a month. Volunteer church & thriftstore weekly. Build houses in Mexico annually, visit sick, bring meals. So blessed to help others!!
Thank you for your thoughtful reflections, Diana. I hear you about being worried about what kind of world you’re bringing children into. I found out I was pregnant with my first child a week after 9/11. We were living in NYC at the time so I already had so many emotions around the whole thing. When I found out I was pregnant, I was scared for my child. But, even with all of the bad and scary things in the world, I am reminded every day of how much good there is too. Remembering that has served me well!
I call restaurants and stores asking to speak with the manager so I can give gratitude and acknowledgement to the service I received. Sad how surprised they often are to receive good news. Takes longer to find the phone number than it is to make the call!
Thank you so much for being so very real and honest. I think we would all be lying to ourselves if we didn't recognize that the world we live in currently is trying and stressful at times. I appreciate all the ways to serve that everyone has been giving. Sometimes we just have to have a kick in the pants to get outside of ourselves. Hope you have a wonderful week!
I went through this where I was so afraid to grocery shop and go anywhere with my kids. I always pray when I'm in public places because I do have fear. The news is such a dark place and I do my best to avoid it.
For the first time we have had stabbings in a big Westfield Shopping Centre in Bondi Australia. Start of school holidays and a beautiful day, and a mentally ill man started stabbing women and children. Everyone is in shock. This is not common in Australia. A police woman shot him dead.
Love this talk. We can’t change the world situation ( though we can pray) but we can make small changes where we are. I visit several elderly who have become friends and an inspiration. In the U.K. I recommend volunteering for Age UK. I also love taking home made food as I find that many elderly people don’t feel like cooking for themselves. Time, food, listening. Not world changing but valuable.
Depending on where we live and travel the world is safer than in other areas. For us living in the southern United States we feel fairly safe and in our more rural area where our home is we feel safe at level 1 bit in some areas 2-3 more dangerous. We try to live our lives trusting God to direct our steps and to protect us. However in the fallen works bad things still happen. Lisa Anne Dupree 🙏🏻✝️
Thank you Diana so very much. This episode helped me with a personal challenge in my life to accept it and get on with it in the spirit of being in the garden and helping and lifting up others. Which of course will also lift up ourselves. I do so appreciate your words and relaying this true message and spirit. 💞
I am knitting trauma teddy bears for The Red Cross in Australia. I haven't knitted for over 45 years and it is so enjoyable. Easy stitches, pick a variety of colours, stuff them and give them a face and ears. The teddies go to hospitals, and places where children are sad or traumatised.
I used to serve a lot in the church nursery. I am a nurse so I’ve done lots of things. Lol. Vbs. Teach kids. Church camp nurse. Night to shine prom. Currently I decorate a couple of family members rooms for the holidays at a nursing home and assisted living
Thanks for this challenge Diana I've served as a welcomed at church & making breakfast for the church & serving food & drink at the church youth clubs (2 separate agegroups) I don't serve anywhere atm as I'm disabled& find it difficult but I have an elderly neighbour who's lost her husband & I like the idea of having tea with her once a week. So thank you for that idea 😍 God bless you & your family 🙏
I live in the Bronx NY with my two teenagers & I have to stay aware of my surroundings. I had to teach my kids to be aware also. We will be moving though thank you Jesus bcuz it has gotten worse & so expensive. Yet God had me connect to a wonderful church. I volunteered with their pantry which was so rewarding. My church had to move to Brooklyn though & I can't lift a lot of weight now from a health issue so I don't do the pantry anymore. But I absolutely loved it. And I've noticed that just smiling & being kind really makes you stand out here. Some people take it offensively too but I don't pay attention to them. There's a lot of people who don't get treated well so I try to let them know that God really is on their side & that there's a better way
I usedto help to cook for a soup Kitchen.I always do a volunteer work, almost everyone can do,a phone calls, baby sitting a friend’s kid so mom can have some free time, shopping for a neighbor ,there are many way to help when we really want to❤
Work at local Food Pantry weekly and yes I do hold door open for people. I also take a guy from my apartment building to dialysis three mornings a week at 6 am.
Great encouragement and message about serving. Thank you! My husband and I are in our early 50s and recently became foster parents to two sisters, aged 6 and 7. We're blessed by them and I hope they'll be blessed in our home as their mom goes through detox. Plus, they help me get my steps in!! 😂
I have a chronic medical condition which makes a full time job unfeasible but I do part time volunteering from home for a couple of nonprofits and have done some volunteering for a food pantry when I can. I also try to have something useful available in my car for when I am going by a certain place where homeless people stand near a shopping center near me.
I am retired and work one day a week at James Samaritan (faith based center) in my community. We serve foster children, extended foster care youth and foster parents. There is so much to do that I also volunteer for Royal Family Kids Camp (faith based) for foster children. Makes my heart feel so good and love seeing them shine.
Wonderful as always, thank you. I found great joy in doing simple things. Taking cupcake to an women's abuse shelter. Making layette baskets for new moms. Giving crocheted blankets and shawls to a local nursing home. It's generational too. My daughter now takes her kids to drop off meals or treats at local fire/police departments.
I was retired, and so was my husband. But the non-profit food kitchen he worked at needed accounting help. So I started there a year ago. They really needed my expertise due to a perfect storm of circumstances. My husband is back working there in his former position, because the person who took his place did not work out at all. I never expected that in our retirement years, we would both be propping up the same ministry like this.
There’s a Psalm that I want to find the number of again… my interpretation of it is “don’t get your knickers in a twist, I’ve got your back.” I keep reminding myself of this. Majorly important!
At the same time, remember that didn’t change reality. Try to spend deliberate time praying and reading God’s Word so you can trust Him more instead of live in fear. I am speaking from experience, I raised my children as a fearful mom and that was damaging to them. Almost none of the things I feared actually came to pass. What a waste! I wish I had taught them to live in faith instead of fear.
I love that both you and Dawn remember the nursing home visits with 4-H as that was very memorable and special for me also during my time in 4-H. 4-H has helped me as I continue to serve in various roles in my communities over the many years since including being a 4-H leader to pass that on to the next generation. Thank you to you and Dawn!
With Jesus, there's always hope! "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest...." -Matthew 11:28-30 One way to serve is taking someone a meal when they are in a busy or difficult season. And this can be as simple or elaborate as you have the energy for. :)
I hear military helicopters and three-jet formations going over my house so frequently now. I never know why. Believe me, that sound does raise my blood pressure.
This came to me at the perfect time. I'm retiring in the summer and I've been thinking a lot about how I want to fill my time going forward. I definitely want to be productive and live my faith in ways that have been hard to do on a 9 to 5 (well, let's be honest: usually more like 7 to 7 or so) work schedule. My immediate opportunities are a bit limited because I live in a very tiny, very remote town, but I have no doubt that with a little creativity and (most importantly) listening as God leads me, I'll be able to find plenty of ways to serve. Thank you so much for the motivation, encouragement, and prayer. It really does mean a lot.
Wonderful episode. Planting & watering seeds of kindness and encouraging others to do the same is where I once shined but I became very bitter after financial loss and my mom dying. God didn’t forget me instead be blessed me with an amazing daughters six months after my mom died and then another daughter nine months after her birth. Both were born extremely early but are doing fantastic now four years later. I’m so thankful God didn’t give up on me and that I’ve been brought to your channel to help grow with him again. I’m ready to be a gardener of kindness again.
Hi Diana I think things are very crazy. We have to always be aware of our surroundings. We have to go out and do things we can't let the craziness of the world keep us in.I don't really watch the news I do watch some on my phone. Sometimes doing for others will keep our minds from thinking about the craziness.Love all of your videos.Keep them coming
Years ago a friend and I took our young children to a nursing home on a regular basis. We coordinated it with the activities director and we would do crafts with the elderly people. They loved seeing the children and I think it was good for all of us. I highly recommend it to people with young children. I am currently an Awana leader and this year we met on a Saturday with the girls to make Valentine's, which were distributed to a local nursing home. The girls loved it and it was a great way to help them learn to think of others, as well as to bless those living in the nursing home. It felt wonderful and we plan to make this a yearly event. You could do this for any holiday or season.
helped a friend complete her application for Canada Pension Plan, outreach monthly to old folks home makes me feel useful to help others and I am blessed
In junior high and high school, I joined my friends and one of their (former FBI agent) dad at a west side Chicago soup kitchen and women’s shelter run by Saint Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity. So much joy each of those Sisters of Charity had and their love for others was so pure.
When the fire dept is getting groceries, I jump in line and pay their bill and tell them thank you. Then I go about getting my groceries before they even knew what happened
There is a lot of nasty things going on in the world but we need to remember the bad news gets focused on when there is also so much good. Having said that I think being informed and careful is a good idea. I live in Ontario Canada near a small town and I am not fearful to be outside or to be on my own biking or walking. But if I was in Toronto I may be more worried.
I try not to watch the news most of the time. I live in the KC metro so no way not to hear about that. It was such a let down. Joyous one day & then that happened. I just try to focus on the good things but then we had a young friend (46) mother of 4 pass. I just have to keep concentrating on God's goodness. Jesus loves my children and grandchildren more than I ever could so I must trust Him.
This is so timely Diana! I was just thinking I should find somewhere to volunteer and help serve. Confirmation!! Thank you for your wisdom from the Lord!!!!! Blessings on you Diana!!!!
We moved to a much safer area but certain times of the day in certain areas get creepy. I like to be aware of who I park next to and I keep an eye on who is shopping. Is someone is acting off I might leave the store but usually walk the opposite direction
I live in a high crime area, so I am on guard all the time. It is honestly exhausting. How do you feel about carrying protection as Christians? Or training in personal safety?
Things today are so incredibly expensive, and this includes hiring out basic chores. It used to be that you could hire a neighborhood kid to mow your lawn for $10-$15, and this is how it SHOULD still be. This is more than minimum wage. This is a child earning their first income tax free. However, now they charge the SAME amount as the professional companies. And that is IF you can find a teenager who wants to earn a little extra by doing this kind of work, which just doesn't exist anymore (usually because Mom and Dad are now buying and paying for every little thing their teens want). Anyway, I digress. One kind way to serve others is to offer to mow the lawn of a neighbor. Maybe they are sick, or elderly, or a single parent with no time. Also, As a stay-at-home mom for 17 years, I was the one who mowed the lawn in the family. I told my husband that since he worked outside the home 40-50 hours a week, and if I wanted him to spend his evenings and weekends with the kids, then I would do all the chores I could to free up his time for us. That was serving him and my children so they would have more time with each other. And I easily had that extra hour and a half per week to do that chore, plus got some exercise and time outdoors. Win-Win!
Girl, you need to live in Montgomery, Al. You would definitely be aware of the badness of this world. If 5 is bad, it is worse here. But, I know who is in control and that my life span was determined before the creation, so really, what do I have to sinfully worry about?
Christianity is great for extroverts. Introverts would rather step on a lego than "gather with others." You obviously get charged by ppl. I get drained by them.
And yet, the Bible I. Hebrews tells us to gather together more often as we see the day approaching. Try gathering in small amounts of time, with plenty of downtime to recoup.
I'm very much a Christian, but believe me, I feel the same in general. I haaaaaaaate gatherings just for the sake of gathering. I participate in the few church activities that I do because (1) we're commanded to do so (and I believe wholeheartedly that when God commands us to do something, it's for our good in the long run), (2) I enjoy the teaching that I receive there, (3) related to this video, I do find that I feel better when I serve (though I'll admit I try hard to find ways to serve with as little actual human interaction as possible, like cleaning the church, helping with mailings and other paperwork, transporting things, online interactions similar to this, donating money or goods, etc, etc), and (4) although I truly do NOT "get energized" by being around people, I DO find that when I isolate myself too strictly or for too long, I get much more anxious and my mental health suffers a lot. It's a fine line, to be sure, but I do believe that (as the Bible teaches) we are a body and we all need each other. Some parts need that contact less than other parts do, though, for sure. I think I'm basically, like, fingernails or something. Important for lots of reasons and I wouldn't like to live without them, but not on the same level as, say, a kidney. :-)
It might seem odd, but I feel more reassured when I get information from multiple sources so I can see different points of view. This helps me retain understanding I think of why others have different beliefs than I do and retain civil relationships with others in a world where the very information we are exposed to is so very divided. I encourage people to volunteer your kind attention and help to lonely elderly, children, and attend events where disabled adults are offered recreation events to smile, dance, help play games, just participat in a friendly way. You have no idea how lonely some people are, and how much they treasure your one hour of eye contact, smiles, and respectful kindness. You may start out doing it to do something for others, but you will find you receive such value to your soul in their love!
Diana, what if we make May into a "May I help you?" challenge? I would REALLY like to be more like Him along with you. Let's love like HE loves and serve like HE serves!
“May I help you?” Haha, Yes! Love it! 🫶💕

That is a wonderful idea❤
You are an amazing lady Kathy!!!!!!
Widows have always had a special place in God's eyes
I’m so sorry for your losses, Kathy, and thank you for sharing this great idea 💛
Bless you🌹
How blessed your children are to have such a good and wonderful mother. Thank you for bringing these beautiful children into the world and for being such a good example for them. I will pray for you and your family as you strive to serve your family and others.💗
I try to smile at everyone I see.

Raised 5 children & finally got to retire!!! Feed lunch to homeless once a month. Volunteer church & thriftstore weekly. Build houses in Mexico annually, visit sick, bring meals. So blessed to help others!!
Wow! This sounds so rewarding… thank you for sharing 💛

Great idea! Have you heard of the Just Serve app? It's one way to find ways to serve in your area!
I love the idea of going on the offense against the evil. Ty!

I help disabled people learn about GOD in the faith and been doing it for 20 years
For years I was a den leader with cub scouts and taught Sunday school from first grade until 6th with my 2 boys!
Happy Retirement! Praying for you as you find peace and fulfillment this summer. ❤️🇨🇦🙏
@@mmmmlllljohn Thank you!! So far it's been a wild ride, and unexpectedly emotional. I look forward to seeing where the future takes me!
2.5 (I served several times this week, in addition to working full-time and having a family).

Missouri. A 2. Well, a special report just came on TV. Let’s pray for peace.
When the fire dept is getting groceries, I jump in line and pay their bill and tell them thank you. Then I go about getting my groceries before they even knew what happened
Thanks for being a voice on this today Dianna. And the prayers as always.
Server. Not just your first job out of school or how you got your first car.
Being a part of Alpha Ohi Omega (national service fraternity) in college was a sure fire way to service my university and its local community.
Feed My Starving Children is always amazing!
Operation serve at my church. We just help when needed..yard work, moving, painting, etc.
Great!Thank you for encuragement!❤😊
I loved 4H. I even went to camp
My husband and I used to visit seniors at live-in facilities with our therapy dog.
Thank you, Diana
I try not to watch the news most of the time. I live in the KC metro so no way not to hear about that. It was such a let down. Joyous one day & then that happened. I just try to focus on the good things but then we had a young friend (46) mother of 4 pass. I just have to keep concentrating on God's goodness. Jesus loves my children and grandchildren more than I ever could so I must trust Him.
This is so timely Diana! I was just thinking I should find somewhere to volunteer and help serve. Confirmation!! Thank you for your wisdom from the Lord!!!!! Blessings on you Diana!!!!
Find local plant and seed swaps. Take along plants and seeds that others can have for free. Be it ones they can grow for food or flowers for welbeing
I missed your live. I am saying 3. I am very mindful. I know some of the world is dangerous but most people are good and want the best for us.
We moved to a much safer area but certain times of the day in certain areas get creepy. I like to be aware of who I park next to and I keep an eye on who is shopping. Is someone is acting off I might leave the store but usually walk the opposite direction
Amen!
Thank you, Diana!
Always on alert when out and about

Hi, Diana ! Much lovvve !
I have volunteered to help with church services at nursing homes and retirement homes as a pianists and have also spoken there as well.
Help people enjoy a day out by offering to watch their pet for the day, or over night.
Thank you for this important message.
I would be a firm 5, if I didn’t remind myself that “God is Sovereign over all”! He is in charge! 🥰🙏✝️‼️
I live in a small town in Ontario and it's fine here, but I have no desire to go to a city..
I currently teach ESL classes to Afghan refugee women.
I live in a high crime area, so I am on guard all the time. It is honestly exhausting. How do you feel about carrying protection as Christians? Or training in personal safety?
It sounds like a smart idea to me if you live in a high crime area! The Bible says the law is for the lawless.
I wish all the comments stayed on so those of us who missed the live could see them. 😢
Yes, excellent request… I’ll have them compiled for our next video!
Win-Win!
WOW! This could lead to a REVIVAL!
What is happening to Minnesota? It seems to be particularly scary there- for a place that has long been pretty wholesome?
So many attached resources… who knew? Those seeking that’s who x
I am not afraid to walk outside.
I lost my Husband.
Girl, you need to live in Montgomery, Al. You would definitely be aware of the badness of this world. If 5 is bad, it is worse here. But, I know who is in control and that my life span was determined before the creation, so really, what do I have to sinfully worry about?
You should read/listen to Eve In Exile :) My ladies bible study is reading it and it's wonderful. There's a documentary too
Both are based on James 1:27
🥰❤️✨
2 but I do not watch very often
Christianity is great for extroverts. Introverts would rather step on a lego than "gather with others."
You obviously get charged by ppl. I get drained by them.
I couldn't agree more!

3-4. I live rural. On a farm last night there was a streaker running around it added to the “insecure” fact.
If someone gives me a genuine smile or says excuse me it makes my day fir sure
