That knock down was like a bit of karma in the lieu of dissing lewin lol I totally get what you are saying. At least under tassie it’s close to half way. Cheers and keep up to humour
Crazy you go overboard one of these beasts how do you get back aboard! Careful as our favorite personality in the race up at the top in style. We love Conrad!
Great update Conrad ! Whilst you are in the basement of Australia, big announcement out of REDBULL racing Fellow New Zealander LIAM LAWSON IN seat next to Max next year - Any thoughts or not bothered ? Not long now before you past Home yourself, Keep the updates coming one of the best story tellers in the fleet for me :)
I just looked it up for you mate. Now, I am certainly no professional cartographer and others may have better info than I do. But from what I can find online is that the point the Indian Ocean does not end, and the Pacific begin, is actually on a line running south (and then south east) from Cape Otway. Still some hundreds of clicks in your future I’m afraid. So enjoy the SouthEast Indian while you can my friend. Keep pushing, keep having fun. Stay safe and all the best!
Hahaha Thanks Conrad - that keeps it all in perspective, but I agree, Aussie doesn't represent the entry to the Pacific that comes after NZ - mind you I sorta figure you're in the Great Australian Bight now then after Tassie into the Tasman Sea. Stay strong & safe.
South of Australia is the Southern Ocean. The Indian stops on the western and northen edge of Australia. At no time have these boats sailed in the Indian Ocean. Tassie is the gateway to the Pacific, and the most significant point isn't Leuwin, its Stewart Island NZ. Deep South, almost halfway, and in the Southern Ocean.
Conrad I agree with you.Cape Leewin is a non event. Make the celebration point the most southern point in Tas South East Cape. Im located Strahan West Coast Tasmania
Haha, yeh that gust was courtesy of Cape Leeuwin for you dissing it. But yes, I agree, it's not really a significant Cape. Much better would be the tip of Tasmania ( or NZ ) for entering the Pacific.
In answer to your question about what ocean you’re in now (and fellow Kiwi - and also an Aussie here), I’d say if you’re south of Australia then you’re in the Southern Ocean. Really, anywhere south of Oz or Aotearoa (say below the latitude of Stewart Island) would be the Southern Ocean and not the Pacific. Might be wrong technically but that’s my understanding.
lol. I think he just needed to have a rant.😉🤣 I live down in the Capes region and I should be upset with Conrad’s description of the cape. But I can’t get upset with him cause he’s a bloody legend. 😬😜🤣
I live on cape leeuwin and I really enjoy you guys making it famous.
Same here. Are you in Margaret River?
I don’t care where you are, I just love your energy, drive and humour!

So for thrills Conrad is now wrapping sellotape around his rigging whilst hangin off the side of his boat on a rope!😮
So you are saying Cape Leeuwin was a complete fizzer then? It's Australian, so "no surprises there then." 😄😄😄🇳🇿
Conrad I agree with you.Cape Leewin is a non event.
Make the celebration point the most southern point in Tas
South East Cape.
Im located Strahan West Coast Tasmania

38 gust from nowhere, wow,
F**kng Legend!
Fair comment on Cape Leuwin. It’s a 3rd division cape at best.
😂😡😜3rd division👍😆
What about South Cape/ Whiore at Stewart Island being a cape of the race as it’s the most southern point of New Zealand 😂😂
Haha, yeh that gust was courtesy of Cape Leeuwin for you dissing it.
