Yes, my grandfather is the letter writer. His name is among the names in the beginning of this clip. I live in Indonesia and work in the same field of work as my grandfather was. Again, thank you for posted this clip. It means a lot to our family :)
Good 🇮🇳
Great man 🙏🏽 - 🇲🇾

it's very rare to see indonesian documentary
Thanks Sir
Thank you so much, sir!
Thanks you
Makasih mr.
THIS IS THE BEST OLD INDONESIA DOCUMENTARY EVER!!!!
file yang sangat berharga bagi kami di sini
karena negara kami saja tidak mempunyai file dokumenter yang bisa di nikmati anak2 di indonesia
semoga sehat selalu Mr. MichaelRogge
1955 = For each car there are dozens of bicycle
2015 = For each car there are dozens of motorcycle
Yup we have progressed a lot...indeeeeeed!
IG Yudha kita g terlalu beda sama kakek-nenek kita
2017 = for each motorcycle there are dozens of cars. You see how even traditional cities like Yogyakarta are now being swamped with endless cars, causing huge traffic jams everywhere.
Epic coment
more like billions
IG Yudha...better Fongers Sepeda Tua again.
Wonderful country, may God bless Indonesia. From an American enthused with your cultures.
finally an intelligent American
@@gabrielsalvemini7489if the Americans are dumb then they won’t be most powerful and richest country.
Proud to be indonesian
The culture, the religions, and the people
Thank you sir
For these beautiful memories
Be proud of your own achievements. Being proud of something when it's nothing more than an accident or coincidence of birth is quite silly.. 😄
It was the sound track of the film. It was spoken by an Indonesian student I suppose.
Thank you for sharing Mister
Would you provide the name?
thanks micheal
How u find this vid?
terimakasih sudah mengupload video ini, semoga tuhan memberkati anda pak rogue. maaf saya tidak berbahasa inggris karena saya orang indonesia dan juga karena ada google translator. hormat saya teman dari indonesia, Dadang.
I found this site by way of an article from 2013 addressing the SWISSINDO Trust.
I'd love to hear anything you or your viewers have to offer on that subject, especially how the Indonesia gov't managed to build such a beautiful country in such a relatively short time after WW2.
Thank you for your view of these wonderful people.
what a peaceful portrayal of Jakarta life back in the 90s and realising how different it is as the current situation. such video is worth keeping
This is the 50s
Wherever i go, my heart always in Indonesia. Thankyou sir for making this video 🙏🙏🙏
This is amazing, i always feeling sad when saw Indonesia Tempo Doeloe, our generations nowadays didnt realize how powerful and strong our country, with these culture, geographic, etc. Now my country become market of KPOP, just few gen Z love their native culture Thank You
I will happily bet these "K-Pop lovers" never even bother to know the meaning of the songs. They just like it because "it sounds cute", Which is both pathetic and sad.
Meanwhile, I am proud to say I love Japanese cultures while also understanding my region's way of life. I have visited Hindu temples in Yogya, and I am fascinated at how those are built and the way of thinking for the chosen location. I love both Japanese and Javanese cuisines because of how it taste, instead of the sellers displaying K-Pop band members as the bait.
Thanks a lot Michael, its a great Indonesia history movie..easy listening accent & understandable..also colour pictures of 50’s era..perfect
What a rare n precious documentation, I really appreciate it. Thank you so much mr rogge...

I am so happy to watch this. Thank you. Brings back so many old memories as things are so different these days.
What a wonderful film document..
It is such an inspiring film for my students in our school.
Thanks so much, Indonesia owes you.
MAY GODBLESS You and your family.
I am reading the Christopher J. Koch novel, The Year of Living Dangerously. I was curious about the setting (takes place in Jakarta in 1965) and wanted some background on your country. The film version of the story was released in 1982 and I think this was the best acting for Sigourney Weaver and Mel Gibson. Laura Hunt won an oscar for her portrayal of the news cameraman Billy Kwan. I always got a kick out of Sukarno's "supervised democracy"..
Good video, chum.
everybody who commented on this video should purchase an Internet Radio and listen to the 24 hour English-Language Service of RRI World-Voice Of Indonesia. then, you'll REALLY learn something about Indonesia!!!.
this documentary is a treasure, the fact that it's in color makes it a remarkable time capsule. Thank you for posting this :)
waaaooowww.... this is what my country looks like in 1955. watching this video makes me feel like I was thrown back to 1955 by a time machine and this is like a TV show I was watching. but there was no TV yet in 1955, first TV was in early 1960's.
one thing that catchs my attention is at 1:47 "we have jeeps and trucks and automobiles, but they are all come from USA and Europe" ==> currently our automotive industry 95% of them are from Japan.
"because we don't have factories here to make them" ==> ow yeah this is 1955, not 2014
also at 11:31 the kindergarten teacher still wore kebaya in full set ^__^
Lei 23 yea by seeing this in colour making 1955 looks more modern than we've ever thought.
No first tv was made in 1920s era.
But it was so bad
@@gvii6431 TV was first introduced in Indonesia in 1968.
Why should you save it as it is available on TH-cam ? Anyhow you can download it on your PC.
Thank you for this video. I'll give you subscribe
Ok i would like to save this video into my pc and give you a subscribe.
The coverage on home of an office worker at 3:03 had similar house design especially the roof type to hosues built in Petaling Jaya and some parts of Kuala Lumpur several years after indepence in 1957. Such similarites reflect the human comfort factors in building homes with good ventilations without the need of fans and air conditioning like today
Thanks. Is your grandfather still alive?
thank you so much MICHAEL ROGGE for this uploaded. I'am INDONESIAN is very proud.. ^ ^
semoga arwah beliau diterima disisiNya, diberikan tempat yg luas, terang dan diberikan maaf oleh semua masyarakatnya atas segala kekurangannya beliau adalah manusia biasa yang mempunyai tanggung jawab besar , pintar, tampan, terampil, flexibel, keras pendiriannya.

I am more proud of the Indonesian nation. This video is evidence of ancient Indonesian peoples lives, I feel how life was then just to see this video. thank you Mr Micheal Rogge.
Its a shame that even in Indonesia this kind of documentaries are rarely shown by the media let alone in colours. How did you end up with this documentary? if i may ask michael.
Wow.. thank U sir, how great this movie, now i can see how Indonesia grow, see our lovely old man when they are young.. thank U sir, have a nice day..
Indonesia was a thriving nation with immense natural resources would have progressed a lot in terms of labour rights and economic rights if Sukarno was not removed by the CIA in 1965. Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh very similar.
Thank you Michael
Waw awesome video 😍 I’m proud to be Indonesian people 😊
nice, thanx man, that's very touching man
I thank you for preserving this piece of historical record. God bless.
No this was a way the makers of this movie wanted to introduce Indonesia by way of a letter to a friend.
Everyone in this movie is most likely already dead. Kinda bizarre if you think about it.
Great video as always Mr. Rogge, thanks
Beautiful Indonesia!
***** There is no problem if you think so, everyone have their own opinion.
