did they finally bring back wind magic, like onmyo shots and "wind +15" on weapons or Wind Guardian Spirits? they didnt have any Wind stuff in the Alpha/Beta but kept broken stuff like Sloth Talismans which i felt made the game easier if you're a mage, it was pretty broken for the most part in Nioh.
I will always respect Nioh for their stance on framerate over graphical fidelity. The original Nioh was one of the first to do it and I am glad they continue doing it here.
Yeah when the ps4 nioh implemented the option of choosing 60 fps with lower resolution or 30 fps and higher resolution, i def like that. After that I think every game should have that option. Ps4 games most of em ran on 30fps so this was a way to do it in 60fps.

Just, wow...what an in depth review! I'm truly astonished with the level of detail you went into creating this review. You really hit every note somebody could ever look for when deciding if they want a game or not. Color me seriously impressed. Keep up the incredible work!
Yeah I noticed that too. Level design in nioh 1 was bad. But Game play was god like. Also if you watch most people play nioh, their trash, and I mean TRASH. They rarely ever stance switch or use chaining combos or weapon swaps combos. They want to play it like Dark Souls when it's Ninja Gaiden.
@@computeraidedyami Sekiro mister spam R1 and L1 all day every day with the same boring 4 sword combo for the entire game along with shit character customization is the better game. Thanks that was a good laugh.
Im in love with this game, after playing it for like 400h there are still a lot of stuff to discover, weapons and skills to be mastered and a great wide range of variety of soul cores skills to experiment with it. A lot of freedom to make builds of magic, ninjutsu, meele etc. One of the most beautiful scenarios also in recent videogames.
I agree, this game has been slept on even by me, but the more i delve into its mechanics the more fun I had and I began to understand the enemy types and only recently did I perfect the burst parry and demon mode, which made the games unfair bits manageable. Also really love the customization in my character and the cutscenes are a nice touch.
A very comprehensive review. Thank you for actually talking about all the new changes. For all the people who called this a Nioh 1.5, I hope all their concerns are now allayed.
I personally think this is what a good sequel (Prequel) should do. Improve upon the orginal and not fix what is not broken. All those complaining about this being Nioh 1.5 probably say it due to graphics.
@@diegoestmar559 I fail to understand when people complain about graphics of Nioh 2, it's just baffling and sad. 1. I agree that it doesn't have the visuals of a great first-party title like a god of war, but it still is pretty great with a unique and creative art style. People who say that games like Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1-3, Monster Hunter World don't have great graphics simply don't understand art design and visuals. Anything that isn't cutting edge in terms of graphics automatically falls into bad graphics category for them. 2. Its a sequel on the same system, people shouldn't expect huge improvements because the machines didn't suddenly get more powerful in just 2 years. Even first-party sequels like uncharted 4 and lost legacy had the same graphics which were released 15 months apart. 3. Team Ninja did what they could do with the current hardware. In Nioh 2 they improved the lighting and color palette, added more details in the environment with more foliage and improved character models, that is about all that could be done. 4. They are running at 60 fps, people don't understand it requires significantly more power to run a game at 60 fps instead of 30. For an action RPG 60 fps over little prettier graphics all day every day. 5. They didn't have 4-5 years to use tricks and optimization techniques to make the game as pretty as it can be, the kind of resources and time teams like Santa Monica, Rockstar, Guerilla games, etc have. I would've rather had team ninja spend the time they had on level design, game systems, balancing, enemy variety and fun and challenging boss battles, which is exactly what they did. (lol maybe they could've spent more time on balancing, magic plus ninjitsu is op as hell) tl;dr Nioh 2 looks great for a game running at 60 fps on a ps4 (a 7-year-old machine) developed by team ninja who didn't spend 4-5 years in development using tricks and techniques to make their game prettier.
Sahil Bishnoi I completely agree with you. I def feel Nioh 2 looks better and has enough new stuff. Sad that people think better graphics equals new game
I callled it nioh 1.5 after completing beta and final test, just not in a bad way. Nioh 1 was great this game is all improvement and balance they put in the first game + new things. Only thing that bothered me a bit were the reused map from nioh 1 in a couple side missions. Other than that I just play weapons I didn't really used in the first one
PRO TIP - If you go to the options menu you can turn off item pickup under a certain rarity. You can choose the rarity as well (basically set it to blue or purple so that the option doesn't even show up to pick up anything lower in rarity, for instance). This basically FIXES inventory management, and lowers the constant flow of loot you don't want or need.
@@username18990 Eventually you will have PLENTY of elixirs and lower grade materials, and the lower tear stuff you get from breaking down becomes absolutely negligible and (in my opinion) a huge waste of time...but to each is to own. If you want to invest the time going through hundreds of items for fractions of pennies, have fun :)
Then u should check other review ..... this game doesnt worth 70 dollars at all .. its exactly the same with only 2 major change so repetitive and really short ... i understand when u get it for free u over threaled n seems so good .... but dude is he working for team ninja or what ???
1 hit kills, light speed fighting and wind damage nerfs with long range attacks. Hahah they're the real bosses. There was a quest with 3 of them and a yokai or onmyo spirit. I considered "them" the real bosses.
Damn Raven Tengus lol, nice to see my seething hatred for them was not misguided. Hardest enemies for me through out the game, they just always kicked my ass..Beats hard boss, loses to Tengu 1 minute later.
Don't be too harsh, dead or alive 6 is not a bad game at all, the story mode is pretty decent compared to other fighting games, and the combat is a bit easy but it can get complicated and tactical (still, my fav doa is 2 for PS2)
Been playing Nioh 2 this month because it was a free game on ps plus. I should've bought this instead of some garbage games I bought like Cyberpunk. One of the best games ever. It has everything I need from a game. It reminds me beautiful games like Onimusha mixed with Dark Souls and Monter Hunter. I love Team Ninja. I've been playing Tecmo games since NES. Please support them. They deserve more.
I bought the special edition to this game. It is by far going to be one of my top 2020 games this year. I agree with this review wholeheartedly. Now, so long as "Ghost of Tsushima" and "Cyberpunk 2077" come out and are perfect if not close to perfect, this will be one of the better years for new games for me. Get this game folks, it is definitely worth it.
I preordered collector’s edition of the last of us part 2. I can’t wait! It’s my first time buying anything other than the standard edition of games so that’s how you know I’m hyped! I was gonna play Nioh but I’m kinda confused with the stance system... which stances should be used for what situations?
@@wakkjobbwizard Stances are very situational. A guide would be best to watch but you can think of them like this: High stance - imo, the high stance is for doing more burst damage but it eats up more ki (the green bar). You can do that if the enemy is knocked down or close to dying. It is high risk, high reward. Medium stance - This is the standard stance that I stay in. It does medium damage but you can usually keep your ki bar refilled by ki pulsing with this stance. I use it most of the time and I think most people do the same. You would be fine to stay in this stance most of the time. Low stance - The lowest damaging stance but the best stance for conserving ki. You can do a lot of quick, low damaging strikes with this stance and conserve ki pretty well. ... ....I can't tell you which stance works best in what situation. You will have to watch some people's beginner guides for that. This is just how I think about the stances. I am in no way really good at the game. I die less than a lot of people possibly but I also use tactics like hiding and going behind walls and the like. I use light builds to move quicker and dodge quicker. Hope this helps!
Demon Prince Mukuro thanks for that. I really appreciate this well written comment here. Thank you for taking the time to help a beginner like myself! I am so grateful and I really appreciate it! Good luck.
@@wakkjobbwizard No problem! I hope you have fun. I can only play the game so much myself but I am loving it. Good luck as well! I personally think this game is easier than the previous game but I could be wrong.
For new players i reccomend using the peacock guardian you get from Nobunaga for the entirity of your first playthrough as it shows you where all the Kodama, enemies and treasure chest are. Its mostly for finding all Kodamas. Then in new game plus its good to change it depending on your build.
Shoutout to the devs for somehow finding a way to not make the combat stale and repetitive, even after 200+ hours spreat over both Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 In Nioh, finishing NG only means beating the tutorial, the game really shines on the higher difficulties, which are also the most fun to play in both games All in all, I pray that we someday get to see a Nioh 3
I love all the souls game and have beaten every single one of them but for some reason nioh 2 just felt like a significantly better game in every way. I’ll give the souls game credit, especially elden ring which had to worry about the open world aspect as well where nioh 2 just the enemies and smaller layouts of missions but still nioh 2 practically had better bosses and was way more fun to me. I hope they make nioh 3 but had more builds with the same combat style and boss design philosophy
Excellent review! I've played some From Soft games but I've never particularly liked them. I also never played the original (Nioh). This game is incredible. The amount of content in the game is jaw dropping. I'm about 30 hours in and loving every second of it!
Skipped Nioh originally because was never into soulsborne, sekiro games. Downloaded for free on PS store and Oh my was I pleasantly surprised, with how satisfying the gameplay was and that rush you get when defeating a difficult boss. Loved the game and and bought the DLC. A hundred hours plus later, a platinum and all DLC completed a Huge nioh fan was born. Nioh 2 was given a release date soon after and I was over the moon. Bought sekiro to tie me over and really enjoyed it, much better than bloodborne and Dark souls in my opinion. En route to getting plat in sekiro and have Nioh to thank for introducing me to this new and exciting genre of games. Being 35 and thought i had played all series of games this style of game is a welcome change and a good test of gaming skills built up over the years.
BlankoMitzi I happen to enjoy dark souls and bloodbourne but love nioh and sekiro.... any action rpg along with the intense difficulty is so addictive with these types of games
@@sfcSpidey Yeah man I tried bloodborne 1st but gave up after meeting cleric beast and also didn't know how to use blood echos. BlankoMitzi bloodborne is a masterpiece. If every trouble you can give me your psn and I can help you. Hands down one of the best PlayStation 4 exclusives.
@@BlankoMitzi ds1 is a thinking man's game. Got to think how you could try things differently, although the bull is something you can just run past. Mainly in ds1 you can hide for dear life behind a shield and punish after they finish swinging. Parry is pretty strong against those knights, but the rules for it are quirky you have to be very close to them, on the same vertical level as them and they have to be sort of humanoid and not too big. I don't think you'll like the Bell Demon (unless you use a summon) but after that the game gets much easier. For me Sekiro bosses stayed difficult throughout. DS1 you sort of eventually get it, and also your character just gets stronger, but the game stays interesting because of the world design. Or just play Nioh 2, and play a game you know you like.
Having watched a few hours of Elden Ring, what stands out to me are the mobs of enemies both large and small. Personally, I prefer the art direction of Wo Long with the emphasis on special effects. Coming from the same studio, I was of the opinion that Wo Long could very well be Nioh 3
I just want to clarify that Expeditions is not new to Nioh 2, it just has a new name and allows up to 3 players. "Yokai realm with a companion" via the Torii Gate in Nioh 1 is the same thing, but only allows 2 players. So there's no confusion, you do NOT have to have previously completed the mission to co-op via Expeditions.
I’m usually done with titles after 2 to 3 months, not the case with Nioh(1 and 2) as I’m still playing 10 months after release. Extremely underrated series
Nioh was already one of my favorite games of last year. When i saw the 1st teaser i screamed like a little girl. Nioh is the perfect mix of dark souls and ninja gaiden.
My GOTY of 2020. Hopefully when it gets released on PC next month it will get more love. The customization, combat system, and overall gameplay loop are amazing in my opinion.
ARPGS like Nioh honestly do so well because of the story and gameplay. Can’t wait to play this and look at reviewers and players compare this to Sekiro and any other Samurai-esque game.
first time I see someone calling Nioh a JRPG, when I think of that sub-genre I think of games like Persona, FF, Dragon Quest with the turn based combat, but theres also Tales Of and then you have Dark Souls or Dragon Dogma but I wouldnt call those two JRPGs.
Man its not a jrpg, its an action rpg. Technically it is an action rpg made in japan but people use the term jrpg to define games like persona, ni no kuni, lost odyssey, dragon quest, etc. Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, Nioh, Dragons Dogma, etc are not jrpgs even if they are action rpgs made in japan. Just use the term arpg for god's sake.
Sahil Bishnoi I changed my original comment so this whole fiasco could end. It’s really not that big of a deal, just an accident of not properly labeling the genre.
@@smart7927 Cool, the first thing i saw after the review was "JRPGS like Nioh" in capital letters, that just spreads a wrong message. Good on you to make that change. Thank You.
For all the people saying this is just a better version of Nioh what's the problem with that? Nioh is an amazing game and it's formula works, so why change the core game if it's already great? Great review Fextralife.
Things I wanted are basically, yokais that feel good to fight, they were usually just walls because they just received damage, and elixirs that fills up to the brim without farming
I noticed that too but it's really about preference after a certain point. If you see 3 different reviews on this game, you get 3 different opinions but they are giving the same scores (9 - 9.5). For example, I watched back to back reviews and the 1st one mentioned the character creation/silent protagonist approach to the story was a downgrade from the Nioh 1 story. The next video I saw said the exact same thing made it a better story than Nioh 1. Both reviews gave it a 9+ I think everyone can agree that the death music is great. Which is fortunate as I expect we'll get to hear it a lot...
The review seems to be a little too positive - to be taken fully seriously. Didn't stop to talk about negatives issues, returning flaws or other setbacks. Every game has some cons and flaws - and they should be criticized and discussed. He also didn't talk about the negatives in the summery, and left a few key details out, and wish he spent more time on some elements. Still good review, if a little biased. Game sounds solid overall.
true, but the flaws that i can only think of is that the level design and items drop rates. because both of them are different that the soulsborne series.
IDK. Difficulty vs from software games felt cheaper rather than ‘i screwed up and got greedy or didnt parry/dodge on time’ where the first one had a much cheaper enemy ai feeling. However the main thing I dont like is that every few levels i need to refarm and reforge the same sword at a slightly higher level and took Tons of hours just to get something decent. (Not what you Really wanted) and was very costly at high levels so you couldnt Really diversify builds very easy. Just my opinion though and what I wanted to hear about in this review. Though I still appreciate fextra’s hard work and everyone has favorite which I assume what happened on the review. (Guy loved the game, cant hate him for that)
From the demo, inventory is still a problem. They give you too much trash to filter through. World design still looks too basic and boring. The stances and menus and health and stamina gauges should have been updated. Enemies are copy paste from nioh 1. Still the love the demo and can’t to play it though.
@@AllFatherStan well as far as being cheap over dying from lack of skill, I would've Totally agreed with you.. if I'd seen this post 3 days ago. But I did recently watch this guy clearing levels and honestly shaming Every boss to virtual embarrassment all while wearing no armor and taking zero damage. This guy was GOAT and a clear indication that maybe we just need to step our game up because this guy was amazing just to watch. As far as the farming aspect, I don't particularly mind, due to the fact that kinda like grindy games. Pretty much why I even play Diablo. But I did recently learn something about the problem you're having, as I was having the same problem as well. Grinding for gear, only to have crap stats and burning money hoping for something better thru reforging. Look up tempering. Complete game changer. Cheers mate
I’m watching this review for the first time after playing hundreds of hours of Nioh 2. Definitely surprised at how much I loved this game as I never really liked the first one. Definitely my game of the year last year.
This got me wanting to go back to Nioh 2 again. I love that game, kusarigama, dual swords and ninjutsu was so fun and the yokai abilities were awesome to experiment with. I particularly liked the lightning aoe from the boss soul core, and the core that makes spike pillars erupt in a line. copy abilities from the mimic chest mushroom man was dope too
sucks you didn't talk about one of the worst things that ruined the original Nioh for a lot of people. are there any reused assets (levels/locations) in Nioh 2??
One of my biggest questions was "are the bosses hit boxes just as busted nonsense as they were in the first game" ACG commented on it saying that they definitely weren't fantastic in this one, and I'm surprised it wasn't even mentioned at all in this video.
@mic eatah it didn't. It fell short in so many ways. There were good elements, but it wasn't even close to on the same level. I mean you have your opinion, but the entire game was forgettable in comparison to what from soft has done.
I've only had one mission that felt actually unfair and that I felt I needed to cheese it. It's a mission that takes place in the second act after beating the main mission in the castle. The final boss of that mission is a revenant that uses a switchglaive, and I was 6 levels above the mission level, and it still killed me in 2 hits.
@@KenshinX1lee it's insane. He has a 3 hit combo that he uses really often, and if you try to block it, the second attack completely drains your stamina, meaning the third attack one shots you. So you HAVE to try and dodge it, but you're in a tiny room with almost no space to move around. Plus, the enemy attacks in this game have this insane tracking. They way I I had to do it was to summon a phantom to distract it for a little bit while I just threw every projectile I had, then when the phantom was killed in 3 hits, bait out an attack string that ends with him jumping in the air and slamming down. It leaves him wide open and uses most of his stamina so you can drain it with a few attacks then do a triangle attack when his stamina is out.
Yeah I got through the first game but I told myself I wouldn’t play the second one if it was not significantly different. So I’m not sure I’ll be getting this one. That sounds annoying just from what you described.
@@KenshinX1lee yeah, I'm getting through the game, there hasn't been another boss like that since that mission, they've all been fair enough. I just dont understand what they were thinking with that boss in particular.
Awesome review ladies and gentlemen who work at fextra. In summary, if you never get used to dying in nioh 2, you never really enjoy the game. It's that constant struggle of getting your ass kicked and coming back smarter then before is what makes this game shine. Steep learning curve but damn good rewards.
Nioh 2 is already my favorite game of this year. It's more than just a "lame dark souls clone" it's more than just "Nioh 1 with updated graphics" it's something more! Nioh 2 sums this phrase perfectly, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". What's cool about that is they took what wasnt broken and enhanced it 10 fold. Character designs, gameplay (which was already godlike), even the story surprised me with how invested I was and how it interconnects with Nioh 1! Even talking about the game has me cheesing! 😁😁😁
Nioh 2 actually just looks like a big ass DLC, nothing is different with the exceptions of being able to use a Yokai's attack animation, become the 3 different yokai, the 3 new weapon (or is it 2? They all feel so similar), and a new storyline that probably wont even catch my attention.
@@atomic747 you mean being similar to Demon Souls, I havent played it but for what i ve seen it looked different enough from Demon's , a lot of mechanics were changed. For what i can see nioh 2 looks exactly the same, this burst counter seems like the only new thing, thou it sounds a lot like the living weapon, the rest looks all reused
Op as it was in Nioh, I despised magic and ninja based overpowered builds which took all the skill out of the game, I found melee-focused, stance switching, skill-based builds much more enjoyable. Its no fun throwing a few magic-infused kunai to kill every boss in a few seconds.
Well, in terms of pure damage it's not that great but utility wise it's great. And the big thing this time is that you actually have a weapon that properly scales with magic as a main stat, the cool as fuck transforming scythe.
@@bread3148 Nah the first Nioh had nothing else going on but the combat system. Everything else was more or less lackluster: lack of enemy variety, incredibly boring levels, unnecessary serious tone, nonexistent atmosphere and terrible protagonist. Based on the open betas Team Ninja has made significant improvements on all of those areas. I didn't like the original game but I had a blast with the demos.
@@tiihtu2507 I like the first one well enough, but the from playing all missions in both demos Nioh 2 is on another level for me on how much I enjoyed it.
My favorite thing about Nioh 1 was grinding for better gear, and eventually getting that perfect roll on a weapon. Trying to make our character as OP as possible was very fun and I hope that I get that same feeling with the Nioh 2
From the beta, demo and now from some of the reviews, it looks like that aspect will be at least a little better and probably a lot better. I loved that aspect of the original too. This one has the additional difficulty which, presumably, will have the same divine type of gear to grind for. I noticed in demo that you can now reforge specific specs on gear instead of an entire re-roll AND you can now reforge charms.
also I don't know how we got so lucky to get games like Nioh, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh 2 all within the span of 3 years, but I'm so thankful for it
The ridiculous amount of useless stuff that you get in Nioh 1 was so frustrating to me, and I was never award for exploring. I really really tried to like the game, I didn't like that you almost didn't feel when you level up the character, the gameplay was very strange and unbalanced to me.
It was totally!!!! N this version makes no exception.. only 2 major changes the same enemy few new the area make r little and make u sofucate n the game is short ...is this dude working for team ninja ??... u can like a game but be objective thk god there s other people telling the truth for 9 ds ok but not 70 ds they r crazy ... check on shirrako gameplay
I bought every dark souls game and never finished it. Got stuck, felt enraged, then gave up. Honestly, the gameplay never made me stay, even though I applauded the concept. I bought Nioh 2 because (mostly) I wanted to create my own char, but I knew it was going to be a challenging game. Boy, what a delight. This game gave me what dark souls never did: An absolutely terrifyingly beautiful challenge. Never have I felt robbed by the gameplay. It rewards you for your attention to details. It rewards you for your patience. It doesn't rob you from the experience of finally beating the fucking boss with everything at your disposal, just to be crushed by a regular enemy after leaving the room. Horribly difficult challenge doesn't need to be horribly unfair, because it is not fun. This is probably the best game I've played in this gen. It is EVERYTHING a samurai/ninja fan/enthusiast looks for... and IT IS BEAUTIFUL. And I must say, Fextralife is my beacon of hope. Everytime a boss crushes me for the 10th, I come here for guidance.... SO I COME HERE A LOT haahahah!
Yeah nioh gives you a super deep combat system to master and thats where the joy comes from. Dark souls is maybe best approaches as more of a survival horror game
Yeah. There's 3 options now. Action, Movie and I think another. Action is 60fps. Movie is max res but 30fps and the other one is a mod range variable frame rate thing I think. I messed around with them during beta and demo. Action is the only real option in my opinion. The drop from 60fps is VERY noticeable.
Correction this game DOES NOT run at 4k 60. It either runs at 60 FPS OR 4k (ish). Digitial foundry has a whole video on this. The 60 FPS mode pulls the rendering down to a lower 1080p in order to maintain this.
Really enjoying it on the PC so far, a proper technical action game with textbook level RPG elements. Nearing the end. Only gripe is the story makes no sense! It assumes everyone knows Sengoku history like the back of our hands. Even a weeb like me had no clue what's going on!
Nioh 2 , is basically World of Warcraft : Burning Crusade ( The best expansion ever to arrive Blizzards WoW )... think of it like that. While Nioh was good , Nioh 2 is the larger better Package of the Game itself 🔥😅... Last time i booted my PS4 was on Sekiro's last year release... So you could guess what i'm about to do 👍🏼
Now all you guys need to do is have a COMPLETE wiki guide for this game! (You know, since the first games wikiguide was pretty lack luster in comparison to the SoulsBorne games). Thanks for the review though!

Nioh is largely underrated I find the games bosses challenging and its gameplay is boat load of fun

Nioh was so good that I wouldn't be mad if it was Nioh 1.5.
(lol maybe they could've spent more time on balancing, magic plus ninjitsu is op as hell)
tl;dr Nioh 2 looks great for a game running at 60 fps on a ps4 (a 7-year-old machine) developed by team ninja who didn't spend 4-5 years in development using tricks and techniques to make their game prettier.

That is probably my favourite feature. Hated in the first game going through a level and being bogged down with useless crap. Thanks for the tip!
Before WoTS I'd pick up everything, browse and select light/medium equipment and strongest weapons, then sell the rest for amrita.
But you can sell what you don't need for elixers and items. Seems counter productive.
I don’t get not wanting every item possible to offer up to the shrine for elixirs and items
@@username18990 Eventually you will have PLENTY of elixirs and lower grade materials, and the lower tear stuff you get from breaking down becomes absolutely negligible and (in my opinion) a huge waste of time...but to each is to own. I like the gameplay in this better than the first one especially cuz of the burst counter. Can't wait until Friday
A guide would be best to watch but you can think of them like this:
High stance - imo, the high stance is for doing more burst damage but it eats up more ki (the green bar).
Good luck.

For new players i reccomend using the peacock guardian you get from Nobunaga for the entirity of your first playthrough as it shows you where all the Kodama, enemies and treasure chest are. Its mostly for finding all Kodamas. Then in new game plus its good to change it depending on your build.

The games soundtrack is insane man, I hope they make a third installment of the series
Shoutout to the devs for somehow finding a way to not make the combat stale and repetitive, even after 200+ hours spreat over both Nioh 1 and Nioh 2
In Nioh, finishing NG only means beating the tutorial, the game really shines on the higher difficulties, which are also the most fun to play in both games
All in all, I pray that we someday get to see a Nioh 3
does anyone else think the artistic direction for this game is just overwhelmingly "busy"?
Yes
Yes definitely, one of the things I slightly dislike about it lol. But it's is a fantastic game nonetheless and you get used to that aspect
As a soulsborne veteran, I love this over the souls titles. It’s faster, hits harder, and is far more complex when it comes to build crafting.

Great review. Can't wait for my special edition on Friday!!!
This is about to come out on steam so figured I'd watch this before I buy
I’m usually done with titles after 2 to 3 months, not the case with Nioh(1 and 2) as I’m still playing 10 months after release. Extremely underrated series

You could say onimusha too
My GOTY of 2020.
Is Sekiro also a JRPG for you?
Sahil Bishnoi I changed my original comment so this whole fiasco could end. It’s really not that big of a deal, just an accident of not properly labeling the genre.

That death music!!! The dynamic Nioh theme has been my PS4 background since it came out; can listen to that music forever.
Both reviews gave it a 9+

(Guy loved the game, cant hate him for that)
@@thelibrarian7193 the loot system is more related to Diablo than DS.

sucks you didn't talk about one of the worst things that ruined the original Nioh for a lot of people. are there any reused assets (levels/locations) in Nioh 2??
One of my biggest questions was "are the bosses hit boxes just as busted nonsense as they were in the first game" ACG commented on it saying that they definitely weren't fantastic in this one, and I'm surprised it wasn't even mentioned at all in this video.
mic eatah lmfao, ok. dream on buddy.
@mic eatah it didn't. It fell short in so many ways. There were good elements, but it wasn't even close to on the same level. I mean you have your opinion, but the entire game was forgettable in comparison to what from soft has done.
@mic eatah nice try.
@mic eatah Really? I found it quite boring and not really close to what Dark Souls 1 and 3 achieved
Althecor That stuff gets old.

They balance the magic, all debuf are not as long and as effective as before and they also add switchglaive that scales with magic
Magic is not as OP as seen from the demos , very balanced....Ninja builds however are still pretty op
th-cam.com/video/-kaCPacofok/w-d-xo.html , there you go magic and ninjitsu disgustingly cheesy and op as expected
Such a helpful review deserves a sub 👌 first time visiting your channel and really enjoyed this review
Really couldn’t get into the first one no matter how much I tried, hoping this one is different for me
probably not. if you didint like the first one, u most likely wont like this one.
@@bread3148 funny, I couldn't get into the first one, but I liked the Last Chance trial for Nioh 2
It's the same shit.
Nioh 2 is truly one of the videogames of all times
barely any video
mostly just game
absolutely stellar
I’m playing n2-remastered
It’s fkn good
Nice review Cas, very clear and explains well what makes the sequel different from the original. Can't wait until Friday!
How is the level design, is it still different missions in similar dungeons
Please someone answer this, this is why I disliked the first game
@@carolynpaige9741 I adored Dark souls 1 /bloodborne level design... The way you are playing in one giant map that is beautifully connected.

also I don't know how we got so lucky to get games like Nioh, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh 2 all within the span of 3 years, but I'm so thankful for it
I need this game for PC !
I was sold after the closed beta but it's good to hear the full version is reviewing well. Can't wait for Friday
I'm so hyped omg
Great review! 2 days left for me. Is there still cinema and action mode? Which one for ps4 (not pro)? Thanks.
@@anubrakahn2970 thanks
Nioh is the best thing the genre has to offer
Correction this game DOES NOT run at 4k 60. It either runs at 60 FPS OR 4k (ish). Digitial foundry has a whole video on this. The 60 FPS mode pulls the rendering down to a lower 1080p in order to maintain this.
Come on Team Ninja! You have the talents to make a good action game so please give us a good ninja gaiden sequel!
These reviews are so thorough.
PC version when? I loved Nioh on pc.
we don't even know it coming to pc or not, also hope they optimize it before release though
Most likely once all the DLC is out they'll put a complete edition on PC.
I haven't played yet, been waiting for the ps5 remastered version which comes next month. Can't wait!
same!
i loved nioh 1, my favorite souls like game even more then dark souls games. i really cant wait
Nobody:
Fextralife: ETHE REAL
lol!
I love this game, at the beginning it may feel overwhelming, but give it a chance! 175 hours in, just unlocked Dream of the Nioh Underworld!
So Fantasy Japan Dragons Dogma Hunter with Coop, definitely gotta pick up
Really enjoying it on the PC so far, a proper technical action game with textbook level RPG elements.
