I agree with Rocha on this. People just want to escape and have fun at the movies these days. Even Dune 2 was a fantasy that takes to another world. This just like the first one looks really dark and depressing
No I want more darker and more depressing then the first and to see joker snap I don’t want a musical about love shit that’s what made the first one so popular
I honestly agree with Rocha. The first Joker was emotionally exhausting for me. I felt like it wasn't focused on the story but rather Joaquin Phoneix's performence. It kinda felt Oscar bait-y. Politically charged and didn't need to see it a second time. The trailers for the sequel didn't hook me enough, so I told myself that I'll wait for the reviews. With the first reviews out, I'll probably wait till I can watch it home, or pass this movie all together.
No People aren't caring about it because the whole plot has been on reddit for weeks since it premiered at Venice Film Festival. The whole plot sounds like shit and fans have read it and hate the ending. The buzz around the film online is negative and Todd Phillips has no one to blame but himself with that ending he went for with the sequel. The other factor is that mainstream audiences don't care about Harley Quin like hardcore fans do. They liked her in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie because she had an entire group to play off of when WB tries to make her center stage like Joker 2 or Birds of Prey no one gives a shit. They mistake Twitter users opinions for that of the average film goer.
I think so. It has a few things working against it. The budget is too high. It is a musical. This isn't 2019 anymore. And some people are mad at Phoenix. At least domestically, I expect it to track behind Beetlejuice 2.
While I thought the first Joker movie was very good I have never rewatched it because of how bleak and depressing it was and therefore I don’t see myself watching the sequel and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot of others who feel the same way.
I'm kinda agree with Rocha on this one because not everyone is a fan of musicals, plus, you have some people who don't like the first movie because of the dark tone and subject matter as well. However, like what he said people come to the movies to escape reality and take break from the real world. Also, look, I'm like the first film (yes even though it is bleak but disturbing movie despise it's a film based one of Batman's most iconic villains as well). So I'ma still gonna check it out on opening weekend in October. However, I'm little curious how Wicked is gonna do in box office in November (which is a musical based off the broadway, by the way).
im pretty sure that the fanbase for the 1st one are not huge fans of musicals. or Lady Gaga. also, the trailer has not hook. it almost gives the whole movie. and last reason is that the first one was not that great.
Wait, that story saying it was getting praised for hiding it's musical elements. What are they talking about? Audiences don't love being tricked by trailers. Last time a movie hid that it was a musical it was 'Mean Girls' and that movie tanked hard. From what I've read though it seems like it's less of a musical than was first thought and Lady Gaga is far from the co-lead the trailers make her out to be. None of this is good for the movie since it seems like no matter what you're hoping to see it's unlikely you'll get it.
Saw the first on streaming and will watch the sequel on streaming too. The first was pretty heavy going, so not a film to take the kids too. Perhaps they strayed too far from the original formula, which is keeping people away. Will still be a big film I suspect, based on the success of the original.

The good thing is that foreign countries do have brains and good taste, we will make it successful, we don't laugh or say that Deadpool is the best movie of the year haha, rather the worst garbage made
If we learned anything from 2023 is that box office is unpredictable. I don't know how much money Joker 2 will make but it's not going to be as big like the first one.
The whope plot has been out for a bit on reddit from those that saw it. People have read the plot and said its crap including the ending. The ending Phillips chose sounds aweful so I expect a big opening quick fall. WB has also over estimated the popularity of Harley Quin. People liked Harley when she was with a team in the first Suicide Squad from 2016 they like her as a background side kick. Anytime When WB tried to put her front and center it flopped in Birds of Prey. WB mistakes online Twitter users opinions for that of the majority of average film goers they have for years now with DC films.
No one asked for this movie and it’s not the real joker this just movie about mental health with the jokers name thrown on it. I watched the first movie in theater and did not like it.
The fact that they keep hiding the musical element and Todd Phillips' comments keep sounding more and more pretentious is making me not want to watch it.
Total misreading of current culutre to think this film would have done a billion. I work in market research for film and television. There is very little general audience interest in musicals and DC properties.
I’ll watch it because I was fan of first one & interested to see Gaga. Not a fan of it being a musical at all especially when promos hide the fact that it is. But the idea that moviegoers don’t wanna see a downer is a bad reason lol it’s Oscar season emotional dramas should be expected!
I am just not interrested enough to pay theatre ticket prices to go watch it. Also I don't like Gaga's version of Harley from what I've seen. And the moment I heard it is a musical, I was definitely out. Musicals have never been my thing. Also I am getting tired of the Joker character, especially this version of the character.
I didn't like the first one. I don't think most people like this version of Joker. If they would have made this storyline without him being "Joker" and maybe just someone with mental health issues that thinks he's a clown, I would watch that.
Yeah, most didn't like it. Yet it made a billion and won 2 Oscars, and everyone dressed as the Joker for Halloween in 2019😂😂😂😂. When will Comic fans ever grow up?
I don't understand how people will shit on Jared lettos joker but praise this joker ☠️ this pathetic mentally ill guy isn't the joker. People can say what they want about Jared lettos joker but at least he actually acted like the joker 🤷
I’m not sure how a 70 to 90 million opening weekend is considered a flop. Even with a 200 million budget. Might be less than what the studio wants but not a flop.
Whether you liked the first or not I happened to really like it. It never needed a sequel especially with lady gaga like are you serious. If you thought it was going to be good shame on you
The trailer didn't make it look good.. and I've talked with a lot of people who think the same. It looks like it's taking everything that was good from the first one.. and doing the same exact things again but this time way over doing it (like trying too hard). And then add Lady Gaga.. who's just copying the same things Joker does.. so again it's just more of the same. Not to mention, I have no clue what takes place in that courtroom but it doesn't really matter.. no way would Joker do what he did and kill 6 people and be a completely free man just a couple years later.. that's also makes no sense.
That’s a good point about wanting a fun escape…with characters you can root for. That’s a big reason I never cared to see the first Joker. And won’t be seeing this one.
Hi Kristian. Congrats on changing the channel's name. It feals alot more colourful. This is just a thought about the clips you add so please, take it or leave it :) You shoudl have a clips channel or at least mention ''clip'' on your videos. Other than that, everything is perfect!!! I hope you get to watch Rebel Ridge. What a movie that could have been on the big screen. Anyways, TTFN!
Gaga has chops on the acting side - I say this as an actor myself. I was leery way back in the day hearing the pop singer was going to appear in shows I watched, but she's quite good. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does in this.
I refused to watch the first one, but the friends I had who did all said they felt depressed and mentally drained after watching it. Those same friends have no interest to put themselves through that again. I think this one is about to flop hard.
I think it will make a killing international. European critics seem to be liking it. It's a shame the American critics are hating on it. European audiences are more open-minded. Americans live more in a black and white spectrum. They don't like anything grey. I hope the marketing team target Social Media. That's the best way to get your film some publicity
I agree with Rocha on this. People just want to escape and have fun at the movies these days. Even Dune 2 was a fantasy that takes to another world. This just like the first one looks really dark and depressing

emotionally exhausting? lol.... cmon.. it really wasnt that deep.

The director saying that this isn't the real Joker and Harley killed any excitement I had. Why should I care now? I'll wait till it's on Streaming.
Nothing about the trailer looked interesting, I believe the tracking
Yeah, let’s make it a musical. Great idea!
I think so. It has a few things working against it. The budget is too high. It is a musical. This isn't 2019 anymore. And some people are mad at Phoenix. At least domestically, I expect it to track behind Beetlejuice 2.

Sign me up ! Got my IMAX tickets ready

First movie was OK but will watch this on streaming services later.
I forgot this movie was coming out till last week when i saw the newest trailer
🤷🏻I don’t know anyone that’s excited to see this movie.I myself am not a fan of these Joker films.

Dune 2 is inspirational as a film by itself and if you don’t know what happens later on lol and if you’re into Florence Pugh
The first one was a unique experience, but not something I’d watch more than once. Not excited for the sequel, when watch when it comes to streaming
No one asked for this movie and it’s not the real joker this just movie about mental health with the jokers name thrown on it. I watched the first movie in theater and did not like it.

I still think this will make alot of money internationallly. Its not a certain flop yet
I liked the first one... but I cant bring myself to watch a musical. I HATE musicals. They're torture to sit through
Only good ones I’ve ever seen are Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Repo! A Genetic Opera.
We’re not exhausted… people for the most part don’t like or care for musicals, it’s not rocket science.
Total misreading of current culutre to think this film would have done a billion. I work in market research for film and television. There is very little general audience interest in musicals and DC properties.
I’m just not interested in this one. The first was fine, but it’s a boring version of Joker IMO. Now The Penguin, that I’m excited about
Belived me the hyped is dead for the Joker. It’s feels like around Joker as character doesn’t even exist
Everything I hear about this movie sounds extremely pretentious and too heady.
Na I wanted toxic joker going off instead they present a love story musical I want to see joker killing everyone! Going nuts not singing and in love
I’ll watch it because I was fan of first one & interested to see Gaga. Not a fan of it being a musical at all especially when promos hide the fact that it is. But the idea that moviegoers don’t wanna see a downer is a bad reason lol it’s Oscar season emotional dramas should be expected!
Not interested in musical or lady Gaga.

Agreed. I never understood the hype for Joker. It wasnt even a Joker movie.
I didn't like it either
Yeah, most didn't like it. Yet it made a billion and won 2 Oscars, and everyone dressed as the Joker for Halloween in 2019😂😂😂😂. When will Comic fans ever grow up?

@@mightguy3118Jared Letto has a shit version of Joker on top of that has a shit movie overall plus his Joker barely in the movie anyway
I’m not sure how a 70 to 90 million opening weekend is considered a flop. Even with a 200 million budget. Might be less than what the studio wants but not a flop.

Yeah, I'm in the minority of not being a fan of the first one. And this one being some weird hybrid musical, I'm definitely out.
The trailer didn't make it look good.. and I've talked with a lot of people who think the same. I'm laughing remembering the people saying this was gonna make more money than Deadpool and wolverine ☠️
That’s a good point about wanting a fun escape…with characters you can root for. That’s a big reason I never cared to see the first Joker. And won’t be seeing this one.
I never liked the first movie
why not
Some feedback: I keep mixing up your thumbnails with John Campeas because of the similar layout and text colors. Thus missing your videos! :(

I just wanted to say Joaquin Phoenix is going to kill the role. Unfortunately i have zero faith in Lady gaga. I hope she proves me wrong.

“Exhausted” is an excuse used by halfwits to defend trash movies.
The moment they made it a musical instead of bringing in Batman it was going be a FLOP!!!
The first one sucked. Sorry it did. Depressing mess
I'm hyped for Joker 2!!!.....Fuck the critics and the haters 😂
