- As you study civil engineering, it’s worth thinking about the career you want to end up in so that you can focus your learning and training as specifically as possible. Your understanding of your chosen area of specialization will have to be as in-depth as you can make it, so you need to narrow your focus as you progress through education to the real world of industry.

Currently 2nd year CE student po. Way back nung 1st year po kami, orientation palang po ng mga specializations ang sinabi sa amin that time. With regards po sa pagtake ng specialization course na napili po namin, it depends na po siguro sa university yun pero sa 4th year pa po yung samin. 😊

What actually is the difference between these majors and to be more specific *water supply and sanitation engineering*,in which major does it actually fall in?

Geotech Engineer ang gumagawa ng study para sa soil test, lab test at sila din ang gumagawa ng report kung anong KPA ng lupa mo o soil saturation. Kung malambot ang lupa, sila din nag rerecommend kung anong klase ng pile footing ang gagamitin mo, kung micro pile lang ba yan, driven piles etc...... sa Structural Design naman, ang gumagawa at may kakayahan na gumawa nyan ay mga Structural Engrs., sila naman ang gumagawa ng Structural Anaylsis at Design Calculations. Specialization din kasi yan at hindi kumo Civil Engr. Eh marunong din sa calculation. Marami hindi marunong sa Design calculation at analysis kasi karamihan ng civil sa site o construction ang exposure...

I'm an incoming 4th year-CE Student, and galibog pajud ko unsa akoa specialization. Huhu
I don't agree na ang specialization sa college na nagsisismula, dapat after college and experience. we don't know the trend and fate awaits us. Papahirapan lang nila ang mga bagong Engr. sa paghanap ng trabaho. In my experience, passion ko ang structural pero napunta ako sa Construction Management, I love them both but for me know mas maraming JOB oppotunity ang Construction Management than any other specialized field, kasi lahat yan mag a-undergoes ng Construction phase. My 2 cents, by the way stay and keep pretty.

I think, yan ata yung kapag nagstop ka na old curriculum pa kayo that time then nagpatuloy ka ulit tapos new curriculum na naabutan niyo pagbalik kailangan niyo ata magbridging? Kasi may adjustments na kasi na nangyare sa mga subjects na itatake niyo. Diko sure pero try to ask nalang mismo dun sa university na pinapasukan niyo kung ano yang bridging 😊

Hi! Yang lima lang po kasi ang inoofer na specializations sa mga universities dito sa philippines kapag kumuha ka ng BS Civil Engg. 😊 I believe ang Environmental Engineering ay isang bachelors degree narin. May inoofer na sa mga universities na BS Environmental Engineering 😁
