I used it once with a fire hose attached and spray head closed which created the back pressure and broke the seal. The key is to keep the hose spray head open when the engine is running. There are companies out there selling these as fire fighting equipment without realizing they will fail.
Why didn't you just remove the 4 housing bolts and knock the seal out from the back? Seems like an easy way to damage the seal raceways

I have a new one and it not pumping water but the engine runs good, need advise on how to fix it, champion brand new
You have to prime the chamber by filling it with water from the top . This creates a vacuum allowing the water to be drawn into the inlet hose.
