Probably one of the most misunderstood bands of all time. All they were doing was having more fun than all the critics that tried to tear them down. Really talented rhythm section with a guitar that leads in often perfectly. With a front man that gives the impression he’s on all the drugs you want to be on. Love me some Spin Doctors
I was always mad only 2 songs got any real air time... the rest of it... where's the rest of it... any of it... pick one lol The whole thing simply rocked.
People are idiots, they jump on hate wagons and most have never even heard the band. People bag on Cold Play and while not my favourite band the fact of the matter is they fill stadiums around the world...AND.... their first two albums were actually great albums. Foo Fight are put on an alter and Nickelback are a punchline. Other than the fact Dave is likeable as far as music goes, they're not that far apart.
My daughter (5) and I listen to this all the time. We literally have a a call and response in our regular day to day. One of us will yell "What time is it?" and the other will yell "4:30!" and then we dance.
anytime my wife or kids ask me what time is it. ..I say 4:30.... no matter what time it really is... I've been doing this for 25 years... they still look at me strange.. everytime. it's wonderful!
Hey all who’m have replied and liked. Just wanted to say, 3 years after this post, the call and response still going strong!! Glad y’all enjoy it as much as we do.
I love the way the snare is cranked up and is high pitch compared to a lot of rock. I crank my snare up a little extra for this funky rock sound. Gives the snare a nice pop!🤘
Absolute top. Born in 1960 I loved the bands from that time, mainly the new metal bands like DP, LZ The Who, BSlacvk Sabbath ect.. In the 90s I found new love in this band and Grunge. A New Era of top.
I wore this album/cassette out when I was 8 or 9, not having a clue what any of the songs implied or meant. I still love it to this day especially this song & album. Anytime I here a Spin Doctors song (on satellite radio) I have a genuine 5 minutes of happiness.
I hadn’t listened to this album I’m SOOOO long... I forgot how great it is. This song, Refrigerator Car, Shinbone Alley/Hard to Exist, and my favorite: Forty or Fifty. Just sooo good!!!
My first time to see the ocean was in Daytona Fla. in '93. If you were in a club down there and any of their songs came on, you would hear a cheer from the crowd and you would instantly see everybody groovin' to it. A wonderful sight indeed! I saw them here in KC, in early mid 2000's, and they did not disappoint in the slightest! This is as organic as good time rock and roll band can be.
1 Album Wonders. I say that because nothing beyond pocket full of kryptonite got any attention at all... and that album... in its entirety... absolutely rocked. Sad things didn't work out but at least we have what we have.
Such a clean sound What a tight band Totally filling the air with only 3 instruments and 1 singer The original formula for rock & roll Not relying on production values Studio & 'live' exactly the same Like their songs or not Recognize the purity Honest music No tricks
Saw them with Soul Asylum and Screaming Trees in '93 at the UC Berkeley Greek Theater. One of the best shows I've ever seen and I've seen a LOT of Bands live. Paid $20 for my ticket...
So my nephew just asked "What time is it?"and you know what my immediate response was. Then I looked at my clock and it was, indeed, 4:30! Great timing!
My friend started to sing this in art class and we were drawing buildings so I made a building that said click at the top with a circle next to it that had 4:30 inside of it and then that building had a giant sign that just said "It's not late, it's earlay it's not late, nah, it's just earlay what time is it? four thirtay" and those buildings are amazing
The members of The Spin Doctors look like they are reenacting the hippie generation except with an alternative pop sound to go with their free spirited outfits and hair! ~Dutch
Yesterday I asked my wife what time it was, and she said 4:30. I finished the lyric, and she had no idea what I was talking about. We've been married 8 years
I've Somehow Never Heard This Son Before, Despite The Fact That Almost Every Time I'm Asked What Time It Is, I Say "4:30! It's Not Late, Nah, It's Early!". Also The Other Day I Asked What Time It Was, And Before Anybody Could Answer, I Saw The Clock And It Said 4:30 (I Think It Was Actually 4:34), And It Was Earlier Than I Expected.
I saw them in S.F. at the record store at Powell/Mission back in 1999 or so; signing stuff, giving away little green frisbees - still sitting in my living room.

Exactly. They're like Dave Matthews.
Don't try to make sense of it. Just bob your head and jam to that shit 🤷♂️
Some really great blues sounds on this album too. Love the song Shinbone Alley
Fun little Dance Break!🎉💃
I was always mad only 2 songs got any real air time... the rest of it... where's the rest of it... any of it... pick one lol

2024 needs bands like this to save the world musically speaking, I miss those amazing 90s
True that!
My daughter (5) and I listen to this all the time. We literally have a a call and response in our regular day to day. One of us will yell "What time is it?" and the other will yell "4:30!" and then we dance.
Me and my dad do this 😂
How sweet !!! 😊
So funny, my dad, my daughter and I did this as well back when this song came out!!
anytime my wife or kids ask me what time is it. ..I say 4:30.... no matter what time it really is... I've been doing this for 25 years... they still look at me strange.. everytime. it's wonderful!

One of my all time favorite snare drums. Comess is such a clean drummer. These guys ARE great.
Same
The drum fills on this tune are sick 😷
I love the way the snare is cranked up and is high pitch compared to a lot of rock. I crank my snare up a little extra for this funky rock sound. Gives the snare a nice pop!🤘

First time hearing the Spin Doctors. I was an instant fan. It was over 30 years ago! 😎👍
Absolute top. Born in 1960 I loved the bands from that time, mainly the new metal bands like DP, LZ The Who, BSlacvk Sabbath ect.. In the 90s I found new love in this band and Grunge. A New Era of top.
Love these guys. Just groovin' and having fun!
That drummer works that hi-hat so nice. He grooves the song so well.
Nowadays, whenever somebody asks me for the time and I reply "430, it's not late, it's early, early" they have no idea what I'm talking about.
My kids totally would. They would sing along... I try to rain them in the classics. ;)
They failed the age test lol
Cause you forgot the “naw, naw,” before the it’s justa early early ...
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!
Can totally relate to this 😂
The B-side of the “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” single. Loved it from the first play.
Spin Doctors fan since the 90s. This band is just fun!
I wore this album/cassette out when I was 8 or 9, not having a clue what any of the songs implied or meant. I still love it to this day especially this song & album. Anytime I here a Spin Doctors song (on satellite radio) I have a genuine 5 minutes of happiness.
Same just I was 6 or 7. I still have my pocketful of kryptinite cassette.
So what does this song "imply"? Pray tell....
I hadn’t listened to this album I’m SOOOO long... I forgot how great it is. This song, Refrigerator Car, Shinbone Alley/Hard to Exist, and my favorite: Forty or Fifty. Just sooo good!!!
... and Jimmy Olsen's Blues! 8-D
Such a random song. Love it.
These guys should have done the theme tune to a James Bond movie.

This is as organic as good time rock and roll band can be.
Mark White is one kickass bassist.
Indeed he was his playing here is in a league with Les Claypool!
Mark White is black. lol
Impossible to be sad while listening to the docs.
40 or 50 horses?

1 Album Wonders.
I say that because nothing beyond pocket full of kryptonite got any attention at all... and that album... in its entirety... absolutely rocked.
Sad things didn't work out but at least we have what we have.
One of my favorite guitar solos.
this is the grungiest Spin Doctor's song!
Comess' drumming on this track is absolute Beast Mode!
on every track.
Such a clean sound
What a tight band

@John Baker...You're absolutely right!
Bang on kidda
john baker Sometimes the best sounds aren’t “clean”. Look at Nirvana.
That's it. I'm watching one Spin Doctors video a day to maintain my positivity.
Saw them with Soul Asylum and Screaming Trees in '93 at the UC Berkeley Greek Theater.
One of the best shows I've ever seen and I've seen a LOT of Bands live.
Paid $20 for my ticket...
I wuz there with you, dude! I mean... you know, also.
Wait, wait wait... No, I was at the the REAL Greek Theatre... in LA. Nevermind.
This band was so tight, the bass lines, the guitar riffs and drumming!
So my nephew just asked "What time is it?"and you know what my immediate response was. Then I looked at my clock and it was, indeed, 4:30! Great timing!
jamin to this beat at 🕟 4:30 🎶
here in California 2020.
❤ love that bass.
One of the best songs of this band. Great!
Never forget how important American positivity is. From north east England.
Chris Barron had some Sick Spin moves!!!!🕺
Played every day at 4:30 when I get off for work
Ahah cher drôle
The whole album is pretty good to get moving
Do you still?
Ha ha me too!
Super energetic and UP! for a change. Spin Doctors are refreshingly different.
This song will always represent my south Florida childhood. I loved it as a kid.
Good memories from the 90's eh??
Sick Solo @ 2:30 Rock on 🤘
every time i hav been askt i allways think 4 30 and hear this bass line in my head !! luv it ! arrrrrrrrr
That guitar riff is so fuckin' cool!
It's currently 4:30 PM where I'm at.... Perfect timing
It just started with two princes, now i loved their songs.
This is definitely one of my guilty pleasure songs. :)
if you are listening to this song...besides possibly being 4:30...its time to SPIN.... get with the program....and hang on.... 🤩
A cracking choone from an extremely under rated band 😎😎👍
Man, that guitar lick compliments my Cafe Bustello this morning, and It's not late....
I love this track. It's so silly but so fun
THIS WAS THE SONG. Every friend to this day that asks for the time. I respond
4:30!
🤣
yep, like many other people whenever I hear "what time is it" all I can think is "4:30... it's not late... nah, nah, it's early... early"
2:27 begins one of the most epic guitar solos in popular music history!!
that funky bass is a great accompanyment, all that is needed, with drumming!
I don't think I ever properly appreciated that solo, til today.
Aww man. Yeah, great memories.
And yes, it is always ADVENTURE TIME. (Love that show)
That is a perfect guitar solo if I've ever heard one
Sweet drum beat, gets me going.
What Time is it Super geil Immer wieder gern .
Whoa blast from the past. Me and my bro always saying '430' when someone asked what time it was 😂
....time to listen to some good music
Funky Groovy kickin it in the high side of some rhythm and blues rockin tunage!!
If it's 4:30 at the start of the song, there is absolutely NO WAY the time is still 4:30 four minutes later.
Confuzledish but 4:30 is after 4:20 - which means it could be considered a bit late ;)
Thanks Arin
+Confuzledish depends on if it was really 4:20!!! hahahaha
Wow, this explains so much about last night's concert.
WHAT A FREAKIN' GREAT GROOVE... (...and lyrics)
President... he sweat through his talcum...
Newspaper man, he watch like a falcon!!
The members of The Spin Doctors look like they are reenacting the hippie generation except with an alternative pop sound to go with their free spirited outfits and hair!

Thanks, Captain Obvious.
Guitar Player My pleasure, Colonel Guitar Player!

YouCantHoldOnTooLong :)
2023 appreciating this classic, and this band.
I NEVER EVER WORE A WATCH IN THE 90S AND I NEVER WANTED TO.... THANK GOD FOR CELL PHONES!!!!!
The only acceptable answer in this family when asked , 'what time is it?', is 4:30, otherwise you get short shrift! ;o)
Pardon 20 yr=d mean.
A-4;/
I was listening to this song when I was 17
Yesterday I asked my wife what time it was, and she said 4:30. I finished the lyric, and she had no idea what I was talking about. We've been married 8 years
Played that song for my partner at 2:30am. she nearly clocked me with my own phone. she didn't know the song either. lol
Love this song
I answer every inquiry about the time with a "4:30!" and a little head dance.
Yep, I'm a nerd.
Same!
UNDERRATED BAND
Sep. 2022 and it’s still a BOP 🤘
I didn’t know what time it was,
When I met you,
Oh what a lovely time it was,
So sublime it was, too
god this song rules
Booger Booger!
There best song

I promise you this, my friends: if I find this record I will buy it again.
At some point I realized that 4:30 is probably just about 10 min or so... after 4:20.
Right, and why we're praising 4:30, not 4:20.
I am a fan!
Hanson sings this like rock stars.
They were 10 minutes late for the greatest stoner anthem of all time.
They puffed for ten minutes and already lost track of time. That's a stoner classic! Come on, look at the guy. He's wasted AF : )
It's not late... nah... NAH!
still kinda works...you smoke at 4:20 but the idea is to be RIPPED by 4:30
are you sure? real stoners are never on time for anything. 4.30 sounds about right...
Brilliant@Guess Whocifer
IT'S HAPPY HOUR!!! TIME TO HAVE A DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds really good 👌🏾😊👄
Saw these guys live
Same. In Germany Cologne. Around 1998 or something like that. It was a blast!

This video should have been 3 seconds shorter...
So it's four thirty for 7 more seconds, it's not late, it early, ain't you learnt nothin?
It's hammer time!
I saw them in S.F. at the record store at Powell/Mission back in 1999 or so; signing stuff, giving away little green frisbees - still sitting in my living room.
