Black shell should be good
Defense types need a stat check to keep up with the rest! They are all extremely burstable and their weakspot on the Ratchet is extremely easy to hit because they lean to a fault with the slightest touch. Knight Shield can check all the boxes for now, but I hope we see more innovation! Many of the current ones play the same.
can you do attack types please and can you do a rematch between team persona Vs team dreams because in the preview of Beyblade x episode 37 i saw rex vs multi not kamen x vs rex and this time multi uses knight shield.so please do a rematch 😊

Defense types in metal/burst: I am the best at counter attacks and pretty decent in stamina
Defense types in X: the only place I can go is the main attacking point
defense types need to be generally heavier with tighter burst resistance
I think they should offer bits with higher burst resistance. I think it should be attack having the best burst resistance defence being the second and stamina being the last. Balance can go all over the place

As much as I love them, Defense types for stock combos are such a struggle, unless you're Knight Shield. I love that you mentioned Rhino Horn makes a great attacker! Knight Lance has a place in my heart because it's the same playstyle as attack mode Gravity Perseus from Metal Fight.
Right now I feel like counterattackers make the majority of Defense types, which I feel is untrue to the playstyle of withstanding attacks. These Defense bits in X are too sharp to counter anything; they lack the friction and the stability of wider tips from the past eras. Without the weight that these attackers throw around with ease, they have yet to have any footing-- unless you do customs! The Hexa Bit was a godsend for the wall playstyle.
Out of all defense types released in Beyblade X, Knight Shield is the best one, but I hope that Black Shell is good.

@@Floppapower3000 Knight Lance is mainly for attack due to its shape, and its stock combo bursts easily due to the tall height, especially the fact it has 4-80.

it looks pretty good, might switch out 4-60 for a 5-60, then either switch dot for an extremely worn out high needle, a ball, or wear dot out itself

With the burst resistance, I noticed over the years of collecting burst beys, it was always defense and stamina types had weaker burst resistance.
They lack burst resistence and weight, their defense is sooo bad that it makes guardian kerbeus look top tier for defense 💀
did they seriously make defense suck this much to make the dash gimmick look cool, i've heard people saying attack type beys are op like dransword or phoenix wing, stamina types got some op releases like wizard rod, but ive heard nobody talk about an extremely good defense type yet
That's because TT changed what defense means. Making it less about withstanding hits and more about counter attacking. That's why most of these layers do way better on attack or balance setups
The fact that "defense" bits have ZERO burst resistance infuriates me, it makes zero sense.
I know stamina is supposed to be strong against them, but defense types not only cant spin as long but also dont move at all and therefore can barely attack. They get absolutely bodied by stamina or a good balance. Hell, they even still get bodied by the attackers, who theyre supposed to have an advantage against. It can occasionally absorb some impressive attacks and knock attackers flying backward (although this is a double edged sword depending on where you are in the arena as it can just as easily recoil KO you instead) but what do attackers specialize in? Burst hunting. The thing defense is completely powerless against

Well when your defence types are lighter than your stamina types, there's an issue
They just havent released a power creep defense type yet.
Phoneix Wing is afcourse gonna be good when they give it that weight.
The only newer defense release was Shinobi which I dont know how it made it out of testing with 28 grams of weight.
Anyways Black Shell is coming in a month and it looks good so hopefully it ends up living up to the hype.

i think the main problem with defense types in X as of now, with a few exceptions, is that TT is trying to make the beys to where they work when they spin at an angle, but most of the time the beys don't do that, so they don't work as intended. Looking at LeonCrest's design, it seems that they are finally fixing that design flaw and working more towards upright defense types
Knightshield is the only good defense type that can take the hardest hitting attack types and defeat some stamina types. Glad I took it instead of some other bey because defense types are my favourite. But boy was it down dirty by first fighting against Pheonix then suddenly going up against Wizardrod, the two most powerful X beys. Shied did good in stamina against Rod tho. 😅

Hey BBG! I have a question, should I continue buying takara tomy x beys and pay a bit more, or start buying hasbro beys? Are they cross compatible? Im thinking since I already have some TT I should focus random booster prizes like keelshark/sharkedge and phoenixwing, pls respond!
You should probably pick up Hasbro unless you want the newest X beyblades. Parts are cross compatible and honestly it’s better to get Keelshark from Hasbro (unless you want the other random booster beyblades) and Soar Phoenix from Hasbro too (It’s the same but paying extra for the same beyblade isn’t worth)
At the moment, i think it’s better to start buying hasbro x beys since they’re identical to TT and mostly cheaper. They are cross compatible.
I know that question isn’t for me, but imo, the main releases you should get them from hasbro and maybe if you want buy the random boosters from TT. And they are cross compatible.
hasbro x beys are apparently 1:1 copies. Exact same weight and parts with compatibility between the two brands. Hasbro is also way cheaper because it’s from the domestic market

It's so sad because high-recoil defense types are my favorite. And it's weird that they have three generations of beys to pull data from on what makes a good defense type, yet keep striking out on the designs.

give the defence beys a heavier blade, stronger burst resistance and THE BALL TIPS BACK. in the past generations the stamina types have always had the sharp tip or a variation of it and if a defence type did have one it normally had a gimmick with it like a wider base, so im not sure why they’ve changed that.

Honestly I think part of the problem is the stupid decision to make the sharp tips for defense types and the ball tips for stamina types when it has been the opposite for the entire history of the game

In the previous generation sharp tip makes less contact to the stadium for better stamina and easy to be knockout,ball tip with higher defend to knockout but easier to loss stamina
However in x Gen ball bit make bey to move around in center to dodge contact to go for stamina win and the slope of stadium make stamina bey to keep balance defense bit with coned shape to make sure staying in the middle for counter attack ,but if the defense bey with high ratchet stroke by a bey with low attitude burst .
And which ever a bey attacked by X dash with enough power and a suitable angle will be knocked out right away.

@@Beyond_Beyblade well that worked on the logic that the wide edge would catch on the stadium when it was hit hard kind of like how sharp flat and other balance type tips work.

@@Beyond_Beyblade here I did a bunch of tests with the needle and ball tip with knight shield. I used the Hasbro stadium since I don’t have the wider Takara Tomy one but since ring outs are more common due to the confined space I made them worth 1 point instead of 2 and it was first to 10 points.

This really shows us how the Stamina and Defense typings got kind of swapped if you compare them back to the previous generations.
Notice how the defense types back then had tips like Ball, Wide Ball,
Defense, etc but now these shapes are now being used for Stamina types in X, with bits like Ball and Disc Ball on Wizard, and Gear Ball on Wyvern.
Stamina types back in MFB had tips like Sharp/Spike, Metal Sharp, Eternal Sharp, but now we see bits like Spike on Rhino, Metal Needle on Shinobi, and Needle on Knight.
Besides bit behaviour, I also think that defense types shouldn’t be so easy to burst since their point is to take hard hits.
Other than the bits, the blades themselves even get the same treatment. Defense types back then were known to he heavy and hard to knock out the stadium, and stamina types were known as outspinning the opponent. This meant that an ideal defense type had to be heavy, and an ideal stamina type had to be lighter to spin longer. Now in X, we see that a defense type like Shinobi Shadow is not only a light layer, but also given a metal bit which enables it to have less friction and give it more STAMINA (like Burn Phoenix), and Wizard Rod, a stamina type, on the other hand being just slightly lighter than Phoenix Wing, being the 2nd heaviest yet having great DEFENSE.
Feedback for TT: Using the type advantage triangle, maybe at least give defense bits the thickest, attack bits the medium, and stamina and balance bits can stay the same.

I think there's a misconception that defense type are good against dash hence the demand for heavier defense blades. Defense type are good against attacks and win by spin finish. But they are not good against dash and is the reason why they are purposely designed to be lighter; to be at a disadvantage against dash but good against more normal attacks. Just like how attack types are purposefully given extremely weak endurance. There needs to be a balance.
In general the way to win against attack type using defense type is to dodge the dashes in the 1st stage of the battle and then getting into constant contact with the opponent at the next stage to "defend" and end the spin of the opponent. And to win against stamina type is to take the opponent on early like an attack type as defense type will not be able to outlast stamina. Just like how attack type can't outlast defense.
Besides some fluke everything went according to that in the video. But I do feel burst resistance should be given to defense instead of balance type to even all 4 types, but not the weight or endurance.

Defence types really need more burst resistance. Not high burst resistance, but something between attack/balance and stamina bits. No wonder why every defence combo is using hexa.
