Thank you, Sarah. As useful as the tips are by themselves, it's really your trademark enthusiasm that makes them not merely useful but actually motivational. Like, from now on, whenever I'm nervous before a performance, I just might utter to myself "go out and brong it". That's an awesome word for just the kind of situation.
Excellent advice! I remember some of the same lessons I learned when I played piano, and auditioned. Not always successfully, but I never gave up. And I met some very wonderful people along the way. Music is life, so you're learning all the time. Never stop. Thanks for the pep-talk!
This could not have come at a better time. I have an audition to get into college next week and im playing the alto recorder, fingers crossed! Thanks Sarah
Great advice, but I would change one critical thing. It's okay to answer potential questions in your head at first, but I'm always amazed at how much slack I cut myself when I do this. Speaking all my potential answers out loud in my car or bedroom forces me to confront my weaknesses and work through them. It's like the difference of hearing a piece in your head versus actually playing it.
Alice, age 9.5, is auditioning for NYTRO next week. She has been practicing using the tips you gave in your previous video. She is very nervous and excited at the same time. The video is so helpful. She WILL EAT!!
Hehe, I am auditioning in three weeks ... with christmas carols I want to be in the next towns small ensamble,,, they get paid a small sum to play in church.. "to keep creative spirit from crashing" 😉 After all we have to practice, then drive, and sometimes buy new stuff for our instruments
Thanks for the tips! I am auditioning with my second instrument (bassoon) for a festival symphony orchestra, (playing Saint Sans Organ Symphony) and cannot decide whether auditioning for first or second bassoon will be best? Do you want to make an impression, or show that you know your music?
That is a really good question! Is the repertoire very different for the two auditions? I’d go with the one you know best and feel you can really shine on.
@@Team_Recorder Yes, the one has solos, and the other is easier and more supportive. Yes I think its best to go with the one I feel most comfortable with.
Thank You Sarah. If I may request.....one of the most UNDERrated classical pieces of all time is: Bach's Little Fugue in G minor BVW 578. It would be just super if you can your fellow recorder players could play it for us in youtube land. Best regards...
Not doing an audition but a masterclass on Saturday with a "name". Your video has come at a really good time. I am holding on to the "being human" bit. Thank you. Do we ever know any piece to our own satisfaction?
Hey Sarah - 0:20 For those of us who aren't on your Instagram, can you be so kind as to announce the lucky winner to all of us hapless losers on your Team Recorder channel? 😢
Hi Christopher, that was indeed the plan! But I made 3 videos in advance as I’m going to be travelling, so can’t announce it in a video unless I master the art of time travel 😎 But I will put it on youtube in a pinned comment on thr Erik improv video! How about that for an idea! And all winners will be sent a DM anyways.

Wishing I'd watched this before my audition and interview for the chapel choir at royal Holloway... having flashbacks now lol
I bet you were amazing!!!

Guessing you'll be at the SRP Festival. People I know who have taken part in previous years have enjoyed the experience - you will too, I'm sure 🎶
You guessed correctly - Piers Adams. Third master class this year so far!
Hope it goes well Louise!
@@janemallinson7553 - thanks, Jane.

Video is not available
But sarah what if ling ling enters the same audition

@@Team_Recorder :) :) :) :) :)
Well if there's no one else to win...
I will Guess Eric is 4.2 recorders high... remove the decimal for the real answer.
You are so beautiful😍
Your timing is off. This video went life when i was driving back home with my daughter after the audition she did today. ;)
