I used to be a well being ambassador at my high school and I worked with many autistic non-verbal autistic special and additional needs children and it broke my heart cuz one of them had Down syndrome and autism and as we were walking passed a boy with his three friends (his gang apparently) come up and called her ugly and slap her I did scold them
I don't normally do this but I let the kids I was taking care of in a sensory room with some sensory toys and patterns on the wall the feel and touch. Honestly I was dang furious that day after that day the Down syndrome girl never wanted to do anything she wanted to hide and go in the sensory room all by herself
