Assuming you played Mona ',s character quest, 20K mora is only good to pay a full meal for 2 to 6 people.(traveler and Paimon can eat for 2 or 3 people each 😅) Genshin also has no sub currency (like cents to dollars) so $1 is equivalent to 100 mora(which means that 20K mora is only $200)
A bit of an explanation about the “friends” comment: it’s in Alhaitham’s Character Story 4. Although they don’t go into much detail, apparently they were friends until they had a falling out over a joint research project that was extremely successful, but created a rift between the two that they still struggle to overcome today. Mainly due to differences in outlook. The house that Alhaitham and Kaveh are living in now was actually compensation for said research project, but Kaveh turned it down at the time of offering. Kind of messed up that Alhaitham still makes him pay rent, despite the fact that it should have rightfully been both of theirs. But the fact that Kaveh can pay at all, kind of suggests that he’s choosing to live there anyways. They really do care for each other, as shown through Kaveh’s concern in this quest and Alhaitham admits to viewing Kaveh as his equal and his mirror, which I think says a lot about how he views the architect.
Alhaitham makes him pay rent because Kaveh forfeited his rights to the house long before he went broke and they parted ways. By the time they met next, Kaveh had already gone bankrupt and was in need of a place to stay. According to Alhaitham's character stories, and I quote, "Allowing Kaveh to stay in this house provides Alhaitham with an interesting research topic: Legally and socially speaking, since Kaveh has previously forfeited the right to his half of this house, he should pay the landlord during his stay. However, paying rent would, to some extent, deny his contribution to the research, which contradicts the academic spirit. An intriguing matter to consider, but Alhaitham has no interest in the answer. Thus, he has taken his broke former colleague in, collects rent as the rightful landlord, and gives his colleague some household chores. He is well aware of the dissatisfaction Kaveh might have, but it matters not to him." As they are two people who don't see eye to eye on anything, Alhaitham considers these differences as a way to further his own wisdom.

There r Indian movie easter eggs that I just realised. Some of the npc names r from this movie called 3 IDIOTS. In the movie a character named RAJU tries to commit suicide by jumping off from the college building coz of academic pressures. The 2 very first npcs talking to each other named PIAH and RANCHO r some of the main lead characters of the movie. RAJKUMAR is the name of the director of the film. The film was well recieved in India, China and South Korea coz all these countries have immense academic pressure.

About your question on why no one asked about Paimon and what she is, someone already did: Albedo and Rosaria during the Dragonspine event. They're the only two on the top of my head right now that I remember questioning Paimon's identity.

This was one of the best character story Quests in genshin impact. The Dialogue was so interesting and not even one dialogue was unnecessary. I loved the fighting between Kaveh and Alhaitham, Kaveh is really like a Mother by telling Alhaitham to clean up and decorate his House better lmao. loved your reaction and playthrough to this quest! I am always excited what comes next! :D

Alhaitham's Story Quest is all about how people Misunderstand one's personality and deemed their shallow believes as the truth, while they actually don't know anything about the truth. Just much like how fans mischaracterized Alhaitham in the beginning, deeming him as a cold and aloof person while he's actually more complicated than that (and other characters too).
I'm not sure if you already did the golden slumber or dirge of bilqis quest (basically the quests involving jeht) but i am really hoping to see ur reactions to it! TT
It's so interesting listening to this and comparing the tone to the cn voices (I play in cn). During the dialogue at 55:25, in en, Ilyas sounded more... not smug, more like cold? While in cn, he sounded more defeated or resigned.
