With such mixed culture family, I am always curious how the sensitivities are managed and what is the dominant voice etc etc. This is more so with traditional families be it Chinese or American or Muslim or any other culture, especially when they are steep in observing the tradition. Couple with a change in environment, coming to Singapore, would be something that i believe viewers would be interested.
The dynamics are likely differ from family to family In Singapore, we are historically a society that is made up of immigrants. Each ethnic community has a large degree of freedom to cultivate or preserve their cultural traditions. The Nyonyas Babas is one example of a mixed culture community in Singapore Although ethnic Chinese comprises majority of Singapore's population (74%), the government's policy for the medium of instruction in schools is English, while allowing our ethnic languages to be taught as "mother tongue" As English is a neutral language in Singapore's context, it is therefore easily accepted as a common language among ethnic Chinese, Eurasians, Indians, Malays and other ethnic minorities This stands in stark contrast to some of the neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia where the minorities are expected to learn the majority's language
@@drjennyliYou may be glad to know that in SG, a child's zip code and ethnicity do NOT determine his/her access to opportunities in life for advancement. Myself came from a poor family in the 70s and 80s. But I had the opportunity to attend the most prestigious secondary school in Singapore from 85 to 89.
Refering to Singapore as largely Chinese culture, as a Singaporean Chinese, I really hated that statement. I embraced our Malays and Indians as part of our unified Singaporean identity. We forge ahead as 1 and not as a majority race/culture. If you want that, go to our northern neighbor😂
Many tourists from 墙国don’t understand we are ethic Chinese. We no longer have any kinship relationship or whatsoever with China. All of us are Singaporean.

在新加坡必須要學習講 [新語]... 但是跟老一輩的華人交通都可以用福建話,潮州話,海南話,客家話等等... 跟少年人交通最好是用 [新語] (Singlish)... 新加坡的印度人跟馬來人都懂得用 [新語]... [新語]實在是好用呀 !!! ... 😊

如果説到尊重文化，我認爲中國人是最不尊重別人文化的，而且入鄉不隨俗，他們去到任何國家都是建立自己的中國城，唐人街，甚至輸出孔子學院，搞共產黨支部，搞統戰學生會。
而在中国他們就抵制圣诞节，抵制日本文化街，抵制韓國文化，强拆清真寺，把新疆的維吾爾人送人集中營再教育强制同化。
文革時期他們把大量的基督教，天主教，清真寺都砸了。而他們卻虛構中華民族到外國搞統戰，搞中華民族偉大復興。
馬來西亞有690萬中國人移民，印尼有1000多萬中國人移民，你有看過馬來人印尼人大量偷渡移民中國嗎？然後在中國建立馬來城印尼城嗎？你這麽多人來到當地搞國中囯，搞虛構的中華民族偉大復興，然後說被排華，這不是很正常嗎？
聼我的勸告，不要讓孩子把太多精力放在中文，懂語言交流就可以了，中文有一種醬缸侵泡抱團取暖大一統的危險。他們會有虛構華人，中華民族偉大復興統戰執著。
那些瞭解中囯文化太深入的人都是寫出了什麽書？看内容就不言而喻。
