Let's say the eq. ax^2+bx+c=0 has a root '¥' This implies: a¥^2+b¥+c=0 ........(1) We have to increase the root by 'h' For that,we have to replace 'x' by 'x-h' Then the new equation which has root '¥+h' will be: a(x-h)^2+b(x-h)+c=0 .........(2) I think here is your question that: if we have to increase the root by 'h', then why we are replacing 'x' by 'x-h' Now the eq(2) has root '¥+h' You can observe it that '¥+h' satisfy the eq(2) , by putting x=¥+h
