      If you don’t have warranty no manufacture is legally obliged to repair or replace FOC. why should Porsche be any different. Regarding parts on back order try Mercedes or BMW or others they’re all the same struggling to source spares and even parts for new cars.

      @@askiff1415 becaise the parts aren't fit for purpose, same issue with the 981 and 911 models. The part short circuits, about a £1k fix per side, when 1 goes l, the other follows.
      It's part of the sport chrono 'upgrade'. Porsche exhausts also seize up, PDKs aren't fixed, they want a £15-20k for a new trans.

    Pretty common and expensive issue, I've had two go in 718 GTS. One at c 5,000 miles and another at c 12,000 miles; both covered under warranty. Risk of these going again alone makes extended warranty seem like a wise choice.

    Had a PADM fault on my gt3 at Millbrook, luckily covered under warranty. They did ask whether I’d done a track day though, which I thought was strange given the nature of the gt cars, but said no just in case and was covered

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's very naughty of Porsche to try and pin it on track use, especially on a GT3. There's a recall on 718 GT4 to supply a supplement on owner's manual that tells you what to do if driving on track, so it'd be a very short discussion. To be fair to Porsche Solihull, they have said track use is irrelavent, it's just a bad component.

    Good move in getting that extended warranty. What a lot of people who are thinking of buying a Porsche don’t necessarily factor in is just how much it costs to service these cars, especially when something goes wrong (and it most probably will). You need to budget for it.
    Also, f companies like Porsche still blaming covid for extended wait times for parts if indeed that is what they tried to pull with you. I know for a fact that’s a blatant lie and nothing short of gaslighting at this point. We pay through the nose for this hobby and we shouldn’t have to put up with this shite

      COVID was just my guess at the reason for delay, ongoing Ukraine war would have been a better guess but still a guess. £690 for extended warranty is a no brainer although there would have been a time when you'd have expected a nearly new VW Group car to not go wrong at all for many years.

And you don’t have any indication of a timescale.
