Vista is sister ship to the Horizon and Panorama, but layout is still overall very much akin to the Dream class ships like the Magic and Breeze. Major differences are the theater layout (not as good as Magic), Havana cabins and pool area, and more berths on the Vista.
We are sailing at the end of January - I was hoping they cut the smoking in the gambling area. I am on O2 and it messes my concentrator up, and makes me ill.
If I don't mention it as otherwise, its included in your cruise fare. So yes the gym (and sauna) and Serenity Fresh Creations are all included. Specialty restaurants (Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi, Cucina del Capitano [evenings], Ji Ji Asian Kitchen [evenings], Seafood Shack), IMAX movies, spa treatments and of course alcohol are additional costs. Visit the Carnival.com website and look up the Vista and at the bottom of the page each venue will be listed as included or additional cost.
Limelight Lounge turns into nightclub every evening. Adult comedy shows are great too. Finally, the casino is great way to keep the fun going late night/early morning if you don't mind smelling like an ash try after.
Via the HUB app once you are onboard, just scroll and find them in the planner. There is usually at least a two tours across a 7 day sailing, but not sure which days they try to make them fall on. If they are sold out keep checking in case someone cancels.
14:13 we do a quick peek inside Camp Ocean, which is the kids area for ages 0 to 11. They divide the kids into ages 0-2 (Turtles) 3-5 (Penguins), 6-8 (Stingrays) and 9-11 (Sharks).
Thank you for the thorough tour! We are set to sail 17 Dec, and Ill probably go through the video several times before we go. So its been several years since we have done a Carnival Cruise. I selected the Anytime dining over the set time dining. I didn't see any advantage to choosing set time. Can you explain any pros and cons that would lead one (as you indicated you did) to choose the set time dining? Does this mean I will not have any access to the Reflections restaurant because I selected the Anytime dining?
Set time is good for when having same staff each night is helpful, such as with younger kids they learn fast on their likes and dislikes or even for grown up habits as well. You can request same staff for anytime but it may mean waiting longer when you come to your checkin ready notification. 6pm set time was our go to for awhile but we found it really limits your afternoon planning knowing you have to shower and get ready in the 5pm hour, so we’ve switched to anytime from here on out. One last thing to consider if your flying is any time zone changes that your stomach might not appreciate 🤣
We try to shoot particular areas at different times with less traffic. This sailing was first of after school let out for summer so it was definitely packed otherwise!
I have never found a need for a fan. But everyone is different. If you have an interior room you should be fine without. Balconies or even oceanview rooms that let light in can get pretty warm if you don't keep the shades closed when not in the room, so keep that in mind.
It’s a great ship, beautiful, and a lot to do for those long sea days, however, he’s right. It seriously needs to go through dry dock. I just got off a seven day cruise on the Vista and we lost an engine (heard it through rumor mill through crew) we were almost two hours late getting into port and had to cut our last in port day two hours short. They never announced the reason, I am guessing they didn’t want to spread panic, and we could tell we had slowed down a great deal heading back to Galveston like we were trying to “conserve strength” or something.
I just booked the Vista for Feb of 2024 on a 3 day Bahamas Cruise. Can you tell me what might be limited on such a short cruise and will there be a formal night? My last cruise was on the Splendor to the Mexican Riviera in 2012 so that says how long it has been since I have been on a cruise lol and what I may not understand about today's differences in cruising.
Formal night will be the evening of the first full night (day two). Otherwise it will be much like any other sailing just less total activities since you have less total days. You will still have the casino when at sea, shows and comics and other live entertainment each evening and trivia and games during the day.
Just not in the casino when open (they may ask you to not film when closed as well), not during comedy shows, and not when going through security. Otherwise you're pretty much free to film wherever. We try to not film the kids areas unless they are closed as well.

I agree with you about the pianist on the Vista this summer. My SIL and I both mentioned it in our survey.
I am pretty harsh on all the piano bars, but yes that guy was our least favorite to experience.

Correct, you likely won’t have any function in Reflections unless it ends up being your muster station

Curious how none of the deck chairs were full when sailing? I didn't think that was possible
IIRC, filmed the tour mid-morning on last sea day. Maybe by then folks were less greedy to get out and get a spot there on the lido deck...

I have never found a need for a fan. But everyone is different. If you have an interior room you should be fine without. Balconies or even oceanview rooms that let light in can get pretty warm if you don't keep the shades closed when not in the room, so keep that in mind.

We wouldn’t recommend this ship until it goes through a dry dock to fix some propulsion issues
