    Loving all of your bento videos! I would like to know about prepping -- I don't have time every night to make up a box for the next day -- what about a video where you make five boxes that will keep in the fridge/freezer for the week? or at least where I could make all the components ahead and throw the box together the night before -- in other words, bento theme: make-ahead :)

    Also, one of my biggest problems is running low on "spoons" (personal energy to do things) in a way that clashes with the need to prep food. For example, I would like to make personal cup-noodles at home, instead of buying the less healthy ones, but the prepare-ahead-of-time guides talk about stuff you store in the fridge for like a week maybe, not stuff you make months in advance that's shelf-stable or (less preferable) freezable. Could you showcase how to make shelf-stable (or freezable) cup-noodle packs?
    I have rice vermicelli that I'll just toss into curries and cooks up super fast, and sops up liquid like crazy, so I could easily cook some mixture in a saucepan for a few minutes and toss in some rice vermicelli once it's boiling. That sort of thing would be great, if the materials were fast and easy to cook, as in toss them into a pan with some water and maybe *one* fridge item and let it simmer for five or ten minutes. (I can also easily cook seashells, so I can do either wheat noodles or rice noodles easily enough.)
    Similarly, if I could pull out a pack from the freezer and heat it in the microwave and then pour it over some vermicelli that I boiled with maybe a little flavor, that could work too. But I can't seem to find useful recipes that are (a) *fast and easy* but also (b) not *fridge* items.
    Because sometimes, preparing food *during* a week saps all my excess energy *for* the week. So having food prepared weeks or months in advance is key, and there's a reason I default to canned soup and cup noodles when I'm low on energy 😖

    "I try to get a nice balance of color and texture"
    A year or two ago I was researching the Ayurvedic theory of dietary balance -- that whole "these six flavors will collectively fill you up better" thing -- and now I'm wondering if you could make a video about some bento boxes specifically designed to work with that style?
    It's "Sweet", Salty, Sour, Bitter, Pungent, and Astringent. (The Joyful Belly site has more info on the specifics.)
    (I honestly think "Sweet" might be a mistranslation, since it covers meat (beef, pork, salmon) and various carbs and dairy not typically understood to be sweet-sweet. Or maybe their concept of sweetness simply doesn't fully overlap with ours.)
    I internalized the set as "the main filling part" (the quote-unquote "sweet" part), salty, sour, spicy (that's the pungent), pickled (that's the astringent, though other things count), and some sort of bitter herb for full balance (I don't like bitter; I assume people who enjoy coffee could just use that). But I'm also trying to figure out how to balance it with a low-salt diet.
    There are various types of food or even condiments that cover several categories, like Ketchup (salty, sour, sweet, *and* pungent).
    One further layer of the theory, a layer I haven't yet worked with (only so much time to learn things!), is that certain body types have an affinity for certain flavor types, and should restrict other flavor types. E.g. a plump body should go easy on the sweets/carbs (that's the extent to which I delved into that topic, but it meshes with other diet advice for losing weight).
    Anyway, if you put together some bento boxes using this technique, and specifically pointing out which portions work with which flavors, I'd love to see that video!

    It’s such a bummer some days, because I like packing my husband food for school but he can’t have dairy or pork and sometimes it feels like every snack item in the grocery store has dairy or pork in it lol. Oh also he can eat tree nuts 😭

    Do you even need the spray/butter on the quesadilla? I used to roll up tortillas with beans and throw them in the air fryer for my son who loved taquitos

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Ashley! You probably don't need the spray or butter, but your quesadillas may not turn out as crispy or as browned after cooking. If you already know that you like to make your taquitos without any oil or spray, go ahead and try it with an air fryer quesadilla 😊
