I remember the first time I saw Medaglia d'Oro. It was in the paddock right before he won the San Felipe as a three year old. At the time I knew that Bobby Frankel had paid big money for a horse out at Oaklawn that had broken his maiden for fun, but the pedigree wasn't anything to write home about. This was right before El Prado took off here in the states. But when I saw that big dark bay colt dance by...you just knew he had the goods. He just had MORE than other horses. Can't believe that was almost twenty years ago haha.
My favorite sire of all time. Out of his progeny, Songbird was my favorite. I still don't believe that Beholder beat her. If you go back and watch the replay, Beholder never got past. They gave Beholder the race because it was her last career start.

Couldn't agree more! Did you mean Zenyatta is in foal to Medaglia D'Oro or Tapit, or did she have a Candy Ride filly this year? Was devastated when Zenyatta lost those 2 foals, just mourned for her losses.

I have one of his sons and he is fabulous - works now in dressage and looks just like his daddy but with 4 white socks.
