Excellent - this is just how the real trains really were. I rode the R27s/R30s when they were brand new. Back in '61I used to go to work with my father who was a conductor on the Sea Beach (N) and the West End (T) lines at the time. On some Saturdays I would spent all day making the two trips with him from Coney Island to 57th St (N) or Astoria (T). I have a number of MTH/Rail King subways , but I do not have these beauts. Enjoy.
Very nice set Corey! I didn't know that Lionel subway sets had operating doors, that's so cool! Hope you can get those two that are stuck fixed. - Ryan
I was talking to a guy at the METCA show about this Lionel set a couple years back. He mentioned that Lionel had issues with the opening doors and getting jammed. He said that the way Lionel designed them they would constantly come out of adjustment and the motor would try to open them too far or close too far while sometimes even breaking parts. He went on to say that Lionel didn't have a fix. So he found a fix on his own to keep the actuators in adjustment but it took a ton of work. So he ended up selling the set at the METCA show.
Yes Shawn I met him. I wanted to buy the set he had, but didn’t have the money at the time. He’s a nice guy and I have his contact info because he said he would help me when I bought a set.
I love this set. It caused me to box up my N scale layout and start building a series of subway modular layouts just for this set. IMO, this is the nicest subway set ever produced, and for me the MTH R-1 is the second nicest. The doors on the R-27 are actually well made, with metal screw drives. A couple of doors on mine have jammed, but I have been able to get them working again without too much trouble. There are some videos out there on how to repair them. Enjoy your R-27! 😁
Thanks I love the R1 set, it’s actually my favorite. Yes I’ll fix the doors soon. We had actually fixed them at my friend’s house, but I guess we have to do it again.
@@Coreyt1976 ooooo that just might have to happen! Morgan and i were talking about york in October and how you will more than likely bring a subway down!
That's a very nice set! I'm so glad you can find trains from your home city. I'm having a hard time finding CTA cars for my layout. Maybe someday... Thank you for the review!
Very nice, Corey! I'm glad to see that you found another neat subway set. Cool how the doors open and close and the destinations change with the direction the train is going. I saw that there were seats in the cars, will you put people in them? Awesome set! Bill B.
I see the tic tok train nerds are slowly switching to Lionel. The humanity!!!!😂 Just kidding! I have to say this is the best subway set I’ve seen so far. Love how the doors open and the lights are just cool. Thanks for sharing Corey. Love it. 🚂🚂🚂
Wow..mr mta and subway guy. Your unboxing videos are so different from most, so well done. Keep your videos coming. Gary
Thanks Gary, I appreciate that. I try not to make the same video as everyone else. I’m glad that it shows.

Always like watching Christmas when you unbox. So cool. Nice.
Thanks, I’m happy to hear that you enjoy.
Love the NYC subway stuff 🔥

Too cool. Makes me want to go watch the Warriors!
Warriors come out and plaaaaaaaay!
THAT IS SO COOL COREY. YOU NEED TO WORK FOR THE MTA AND DRIVE SUBWAY TRAINS. 🙂 CONGRATS ON THE PURCHASE.
Thanks James
Good video as always love the sound when the doors close so realistic
Thanks David, I love it also.
It looks like that R27 subway set found a good home! Congratulations Corey!
Thanks Wayne
Very nice set Corey! I didn't know that Lionel subway sets had operating doors, that's so cool! Hope you can get those two that are stuck fixed. - Ryan
Thanks Ryan, yes I think Lionel made 3 different subway sets that did that. I’ve already made plans to get the doors fixed.
Nice 👍 cool set that is very cool when doors open n close very detailed
Thanks, that’s my favorite part of this set.
Neat set Corey. I love the lighting.
Thanks Jeremy. I’m going to change it to LED and add people.

Very nice set. I've often thought about subway cars. Not easy to find in good condition at a decent price. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, you’re right about it being hard to find a set for a good price in good condition. It definitely takes patience.
Well done Corey!! I just place a bid on this set.
Thanks, I hope you get it.
Nice demonstration Corey! I' m not a subway modeller myself.
But...if Lionel offers a Pelham 123 set with Travolta dialogue from the movie, I'm in!😉
Thanks Rick. That sounds like a cool idea.

Thanks, I’ve seen a few CTA sets here and there. I’ll get some eventually.
Nice , i really like the color , the operating doors are great i remember seeing them for the first time .
Thanks, yes I love the color also. Seeing them at his house was my first time seeing them in person.
Congratulations 🍾 those are really cool I like the doors that open!
Thanks Chris, although the doors have issues sometimes, they definitely knocked it out the park with that feature.
Nice subway set. I like the opening doors and the sounds it has!
Thanks, me too.
Nice video, I've rode that train all the time when I lived in Brooklyn.
Thanks. Nice! I’m from Brooklyn also.
Awesome set! Makes me miss the set I had. Enjoy!
Thanks Matt. I didn’t realize you no longer had yours. I was just watching your video about putting in the LED’s. That will be a future project.
🔥….😍
Thanks

That's a nice set, but setting the big box on the table on both sides of you would help with the unboxing!
I agree! I definitely struggled with the box🤣🤣🤣🤣 it was the excitement of finally opening it!
The subway trains are so hard to find, I hope in the future they make R46 trains to collect.
Yes that would be great.
Any idea on how to find this train? I would like to put it in my Christmas village.
@@akieshajohnson2005 I see them come up on eBay and fb marketplace. I’ve seen them for sale at train shows too.
This video is awesome, thank you for sharing!
