you misunderstood the ending. Shane didn't lock his father up in the room. Shane took his mother and himself into the room, locked themselves in and wished for the house so that he can play pretend with the mom. He also didn't age himself twice, he simply wished to look like his dad (or for a human suit/ the illusion of his dad), since they are in the room and seem to be able to wish for anything there. The husband woke up in the real house and found himself locked outside the room and had to break into the room, and then he found the fake house with that fake husband. nice recap tho loved it ❤❤

With all due respect, I don’t think you got the ending.
So the son was interrupted before he sexually XXXXX the mother, when he heard her actual husband enter the dream house.
What the ending signifies, what with her reaction to the test, and the flickering of the light, is that she tested the world to make sure she wasn’t still in the room, it turns out she is, which calls into question if her husband even is really her husband, or if it’s once again her son. Her son understood the rules of the room way better than either of them, so he once again probably tricked her. it’s kinda like boomers having a kid who grew up with the internet.
