- Snowrun in Pacific Northwest, Oregon Cascades.
April 16th, yet snowpack is still over 6ft it most places at 4000ft elevation. We got lucky to get hit with 2-3 inches of fresh powder in the middle of the trip. Currently trail is broken up to the Elk Lake, near Breitenbush.
Stay safe in the tank traps, steer straight and dont break your bead!

Great video, dont get stuck out there! Sidenote: i dont put lights up top on a 4wd in Oregon.. they tend to get ripped off or broken by branches.

it would have to be a very tough branch to break that light bar off, and trail would need to be really tight, and off the traveled path of the most... :)

Mods as to any 4x4 for good snow performance as I would suggest:
Tires as large as you can put on your vehicle and still keep it drivable on the highway, whatever brand you go with, just make sure its a "soft" compound tire so it dont turn plastic/rigid in the cold, softer sidewall is best to get better floatation in the snow, you'll need to deflate your tires as much as possible. Good idea to have beadlocked type of rim/wheel as well.
Lift height will depend on type of 4x4 you use as well as the size of the tire you are installing.
Geared axles to the right ration (depending your tire size), locked axles are nice in certain cases.

budnixon awesome video! as we come into snow season here in maine I always get tuned into snow wheeling videos to get me exited for the up coming season! I was wondering, I have the same Cobra CB radio as you and am curious is to what your antenna set up is, I am not having very good luck with my steel antenna
its a firestick, and I had a local CB shop tune my stuff, I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to that stuff.

I see lots of snow wheeling videos - nobody uses tire chains? Would it ruin the fun having traction?
Chains are good but in more icy conditions, as well as they prevent tire from floating at low psi, by keeping tires tight. In our case, we prefer to go this route.

What's a good psi to air down to when driving through deep snow like that?
it all depends on how heavy your rig is as well as how stiff your sidewalls are... best to go down to whatever it is to get most floatation from your tires before loosing the bead...

it might, depending on how harsh it is done/used, but to me never caused any issues...

читал, не эксперт. эта информация в открытом доступе на разных ресурсах англоязычных русскоязычных и т.д.
И я вот тоже не эксперт :) но колёса на Бездоре приспускаю, реально помогает, есть там камера или нет не важно, площадь опоры всё равно увеличивается, а клиренс уменьшается. Это физика и геометрия.

Все правильно в обоих точках зрения, но нужно рассматривать сами условия эксплуатации... Дима все верно говорит, при увеличении площади опоры машина идет куда уверенее... Но при свежем пушке не особо глубоком, когда у шин еще хорошая сцепка с поверхностью земли, лучше высокая не широкая шина...
Тут как бы нужно по обстоятельствам... :)

Vids come out as we get out to the hills, not as often as I would like, but thats not my work - so it dont pay to be out there, but rather costs a pretty penny at times...
