A person travelled for 1 hour 24 mints. He covered half of the distance at 30kmph and remainig diastance at 75kmph. What is the total distance he travelled?
Avg speed = 2xy/(x + y)
=2×30×75/(30+75)
= 300/7 kmph
Time taken = 1 hour 24 min = 84 min
= 84/60 hrs = 7/5 hours
Avg speed = total distance/ Total time
300/7 = total distance/(7/5)
Total distance = (300/7)×(7/5)
= 60 km

Avg.speed = 2ab/(a + b) = 2×21×24/(21 + 24) = 2×21×24/45 = 112/5
d = s×t = (112/5) × 5 = 112 km

Sir this problem have a equal time(5hr=2.5+2.5) but distance is different therefore we have to use this formula a+b/2 .why could you take this formula 2ab/a+b .
