- Yo! A family friendly fossil hunting trip to Seatown Dorset UK. No hammers, just having a wander and seeing what you can just pick up. Ideal for families with kids just please please please check the tides and stay well away from the cliffs. This location is best collected on a big spring tide (roughly every two weeks) and its good safe practice to collect a few hours after high water on the falling tide. Be safe.

Great video mate, must admit i absolutely loved Seatown when i was visited, such a beautiful place to collect and your rights its just great been out ! don't forget about the Holderness mate when you come up north its producing some quality finds this year.
Yeah trying to plan a late august early September visit at the mo will only be a weekend, can’t wait though
We had an impromptu visit to Charmouth last week whilst on holiday, our very first fossil hunt, found a few small pieces in the brown deposits down by the sea but no joy cracking rocks open, tbh didn’t know what we were doing, then later that evening stumbled across your channel and now hooked and subscribed. But like you said in this video it’s just about being out there.
Getting to know which rocks are the right ones comes with time and experience, if in doubt, give it a clout! Just getting out there and giving it a go is a tonic for the soul, always nice to get something though, for me it’s a bit like having a lottery scratch card addiction and the rocks are the scratch cards, you never know if the next one will be a big winner :)

It’s an awesome place to live, Charmouth and Lyme are a tad busier!

Loved Seatown, found a good few fossils by Golden Cap.
It’s really good collecting for small stuff, had a beautiful nautilus in a nodule from the green ammonite beds a few years ago, mate found what we thought was a decent ichthyosaur in front of the cap a few months ago, was just a scattering of verts after we got permission to get it out. Good fun though.
Walked Seatown beach many times always came away with some nice finds,it was great when our boys were young they love the adventure.Thx for the video 👍👌
I came here after your email today where you let me know about your channel (I was trying to book a fossil walk but you're booked up- and I understand why!!). I adore this sort of vid and will now binge on the others. I got into mudlarking and foraging through people making videos in this same candid manner and I'm pretty good at both now (if I do say so myself), it's such an effective way to learn. Thanks for the content, I hope you make lots more 8-)
If you like mud larking, I'd recommend church cliffs at Lyme for your visit (park in Charmouth Road Carpark) then down the steps to the sea wall, take a left back towards Charmouth just across the beach there is an old rubbish dump that gets washed into the sea, really old bottles, cutlery, old ceramic and fossils! win win! There was even a few guys the other week carrying an old Belfast sink off!
