I've run repacks before but at significantly lower price points. I pretty much always take a tiny loss when it comes to value vs. Buy-in because my goal isn't to make money, but to move product. Not exactly a recommended business model for those doing it for a living, but it serves my purpose as a collector. Always have a product list. I find having a full list of cards in the repacks keeps things transparent and it lets those wanting to get into it, know what they can get from them. Every repacker approaches it different, but for me, that's what I think is most fair for everyone. A lot of good insights and comparisons in this podcast, enjoyed it.

Thanks for weighing in and sharing your experiences as someone who has constructed repacks. The transparency with a checklist is something I see becoming the rule in most places at some point in the future. If people want to be "surprised" they can always blindly buy-in without looking over said checklist.

Blessup TC. As a youngin I was collecting in the 90's, then stopped in the 2000's, but after retrieving two binders of all of my rookies and inserts, i began to see what ive missed
and it was a shocker to see 6pk blasters for the same price I was buying 36pk boxes for $39, but I still bought 2016-17 mega boxes and blasters. now im at the point of grading my kobe rookies and MJ cards and other cards I got from revisiting the hobby. Now just last week I was watching breaks "LIVE" on YT, and I though let me see and got 2 spots 1-basketball- and 1- Baseball. both random teams, basketball I got nothing back, but the baseball I hit 2 gold numbered prizm cards one was somebody I didnt know but one was a gold # chipper jones. it was many things i wasnt aware of like "ALL CARDS SHIP"....but that was my last cause I rather pay the money in breaks on boxes I can rip myself, but the high hobby boxes breaks hits are sick, but thanks for the vid ive been wondering about these points.

Thanks for listening and providing your thoughts! There is a disconnect between opening packs yourself and watching someone open them for you. That was one of the biggest knocks on breaking over a decade ago, many thought it was illogical, but now it's almost seen as a norm.

When I was 9 years old, I was addicted to buying "grab bags" (that's what they were originally called) of 1960's cards. 25 different cards for $5. When I owned a store, I did the brown bag grab bags which were popular. As a pure collector, I hate it. I watch A LOT of repack shows on WhatNot and there is so much dishonesty in the way of comps. You buy a repack for $150 and ceiling is $750 and floor is $85, you get a card that is "floor", but last sold for $30. Guy gambled, lost $120 in ten seconds. He then chases and buys another. It's gambling with so many repackers don't even tell you what's in the repacks. But repacking companies buy and pay good and help define the value and are needed.

The dishonesty with comps would be my biggest concern buying into a repack for the first time. I suspect some repackers do not check the sales on every card they put into their repacks based on experience. Multiple times I've had guys come up, look up a couple of cards, see that they are pretty accurately priced, and then assume everything else is good to go. Thanks for tuning in!

@@TripleCrown24 Adding to what I said, many of these repackers aren't good at speculating with the assumption that "hot names" will remain hot when they issue the repacks weeks later. So many players almost lost value when it was recognized that circumstances or ability didn't match their prices causing a ripple of selling. You paid $100 for that Garrett Wilson (or Desmond Ridder or Sam Howell or Kenny Pickett or Christian Watson or Bryce Young or whomever, and this can be applied to multiple sports not just football) and now it's a $35 card when you assumed this card would be worth far more than the $120 comps it was selling for when you bought it.

Because of the garbage that Panini keeps making that no one wants

Unfortunately a byproduct of exclusive licensing, Panini has to put out x number of products each year even if some are viewed as low effort. Thanks for watching!

Anyone that buys these is nothing more than a gambling addict. I have no sympathy for them.

There are certainly some addicts out there. When I was watching and even joined a repack as part of the "research" for this episode, I saw multiple guys who I'd guess were regulars based on the way the chat interacted with them buying several packs. Would not shock me if their bill for the evening exceeded a grand. It's not my business to know what their personal finances look like, but they must have things pretty good to be doing that kind of spending on a semi-regular basis. At least I hope so because the alternative is not good. Thanks for listening!
