I am free to play, I had 2 keys this week - I didn't have Thena, and I really wanted her, Malekith would have been a bonus as well. I spun both keys, I got the Tokens, and then Valentina. As Cozy said, I closed the game and went to play something else........so aggravating.....
The spotlight caches system is just a whole lot of feelsbad moments. I mean sometimes you'll hit your card on first key but damn between the dupes and lousy 1k tokens, and trash accompanying the new card, it's an awful system, regardless of whether it used to be worse.
It is so funny to me that Alex calls Luke Cage "Nick Cage" because of the story behind the two. Nicolas Cage isn't his real name; it's Nicolas Coppola. He chose his acting name to be "Nicolas Cage" because he was a fan of Luke Cage from the comics. So Alex calling him "Nick Cage" is just so wild 😂
I never hear about the Spider-ham and shadow king combo. Calling it a combo is a bit off since it’s not in sequence but if they play the pig shadow king will take its power to 0. One of my favorite gotcha plays.
In regards to the spotlight weeks, as an f2p player, December sucks because of the spotlight cards. Not enough tokens to make up and I might have to skip the entire month for the future.
I've skipped a lot of cards some months, especially when I was a newer Player. It's kind of annoying when you don't get to try out the new flavor of the week, but ultimately you are making a wise decision from a collection stand point. It's good to set yourself up for the future so you can always get the cards you miss while drawing for something really good the week it gets released. Even now, I'm almost collection complete and I still skip stuff like I have with malekith.
Luna Snow, Banner and Peni are all very obviously mid cards. Rocket and Groot is a very powerful card, but also fully replaceable. That said, Doom 2099 will likely be one of the most broken cards ever released if he happens to release as leaked. So I think you can skip December pretty confidently as long as you don’t skip Doom.
Man, being a returning player has been a blessing and a curse. On one hand, I don't have many of the good cards that's been released, but on the other hand, I don't have to worry about not getting cards in spotlights
Hoogland made some good points addressing this content creator gap that is furthering bit by bit. Especially as the game hopes to draw in new players all the time, their source of gameplay and info, at least from the upper echelon of YT Snap creators, won't be as relevant as often. While I think content could be made to balance both parties, I feel it falls more on SD & Snap to address the bridge, than it does creators like you. That said, I appreciate you both and the support/content you guys deliver. Im a higher CL and look forward to the new videos & discussions!
My son got me into Snap at launch. He's fallen off, and every time he's tried to come back, he's rolled keys and gotten duplicates. They are going to have a hard time growing the base if they don't do something about card acquisition.
Mailbag: Spotlight Caches should be customizable! Every week you'd get a spotlight with the new card of the week and other 3 cards that you choose to go in that spotlight as well. That would support the new and returning Marvel Snap players to acquire the cards they miss to complete at least one or two meta decks! Example: a new player wants to play Destroy, so next week their spotlight would be Fenris Wolf and they choose Knull, X-23 and Death (yes, one spot could be a series 3 cards) to go in the spotlight. If they have 4 keys, it's a whole deck guaranteed!
Whole hearted agree on the spotlight duplicate protection. But as far as the comment made about them owning more cards doesn't pertain to the issue they were addressing. The cards in the spotlight caches may not be owned by newer players have yet, but that doesn't change the fact that the cards in the spotlight caches suck.
Mailbag: Thanks for the feedback on Malekith CozySnap now I can save my keys for the next couple of weeks, so now I ask fellas, between Fenris and Gorr, which is the must have and which is the pass?
Imo Fenris is going to give you the most value, he is a 2 cost that you can save his effect on turn 6 and he'll always give you the strongest card regardless of what you destroyed. This makes the likes of Shang Chi and Killmonger even more dangerous. Even if your opponent plays around him you can play the likes of Moon Knight, Silver Samurai and Black Bolt to force them to discard which also works for him. Lastly, other than protecting their cards from being destroyed, your opponent can't really counter Fenris's effect unless they use Red Guardian or Lady Deathsrike to prevent him from doing so. Gorr will probably be good because he also gets buffed by your opponent's on reveal as well but I think the value Fenris is going to have will be too good to ignore, especially now during the Surtur meta.
@@shai310 the opposite side of Fenris is there's no surprise. Your opponent knows exactly what you're getting and where. You are not going to steal cubes with the wolf at all.
Going to the past, in the old spotlights, you were "luckily awarded" with a random variant of a card you already own instead of the 1000 tokens that you receive now. I remember a Cozy's video where he obtained an Angela variant if I'm not wrong. His face in that moment was unforgettable (but not as unforgettable as the moment when Alex watched his son's maths in the car, for sure) 😅
If they made it so you wouldn't get duplicates on spotlights or you could use 2 keys to guarantee the new weekly card. That would make the game so much more fun and fair.
IMO for every card in the spotlights, you should get both tokens and a variant of any duplicate you draw. The special variant on its own is just not worth that much from a CL perspective.
How does one ask a question for the Snap Chat? I want you guys to discuss the "Collector's Vault" which seems to appear randomly for a few days. I think this is poorly implemented so far. The first set of 6 I can't remember, but I got 2 of the same card and none of cards I play a lot. This time, I got a Deadpool card (already have 2 variants), Apocalyspse (Have a variant I like), 2 Squirrel Girls (neither look as cool as the variant I have) and Namor and Black Widow who I use so rarely I wouldn't buy variants for. Who are these vault's targeting? I have 13K gold, but it took about 10 seconds to look these over and go "nope."

I spent the 4 keys on Malekith because at the end of the day, it is a draw 1 card. I am currently messing around with a deck that involves mostly ongoing and the other draw cards (Crystal, Jubilee). I'm getting all 12 cards down on the board semi-consistently. Just a matter of needing a bit more power currently but I'm winning more than losing.
MAIL BAG: I just got back into SNAP.I started back during Phoenix force season I used to watch every week But fell off with the game and video a while back during the pixie season. catching on the podcast and videos of you both has been a blast being able to see all the changes and new cards, Just wanted to say thank you guys for all the great content. I will say, as far as my theory on shadow king rarely being popular, it’s because he affects your side of the board. Whenever I make a deck, I’m always tempted to add shadow king, but then I look at my deck and he’d be hurting me as much as my opponent. At least that’s most of the decks I end up playing, like phoenix force and Ajax. Because shadow king is so effective against so many decks, all of those decks can’t run him or he ends up extremely awkward
Hopping on the spotlight key complain train. I’m a collection level of 5000, and I’m missing most series 4/5 cards, and have rolled duplicates 5 times using keys. So frustrating and disappointing
Hey, mostly collection complete player here, I ended up rolling this week so I could get both Malekith and Valentina, and to the point both Cozy and Alex are making on the weakness of the spotlights, this is the last week of the year when I need two of the cards in the cache, so it seemed worth it to roll.

Spider-Ham - Love him in my decks with Shadow King. Love hitting those hard to play cards and having my opponent play them. Shadow King it down to 0 power is great!
I'm almost 50. When I was a kid, my mom would use liquid soap if I swore one pump. I quickly learned to just grab the soap and take a couple pumps and let loose with a chain of expletives but that ended that.
Mailbag: Love the co-lab between Rivals & Snap.. But i'm thinking bruce banner isn't portrayed correctly in Snap as he is in Rivals!.. I think when played he should give you a "Gamma Vial card" when played, Bruce banner HULKS out... "if destroyed" revert HULK back to bruce banner... That way you use 2 slots to get HULK 12 power, but a chance your opponent could destroy the vial to win! ~ I also agree playing Rivals should grant "Key's, or promo codes for variants"

been playing High Evo lately for fun and wondering if there's new cards which could have an unlocked effect. what if generated cards like squirrels, doom bots, Ultron drones, and demons all had unlocked effects? would need to alter High Evo's text but that'd be fun since we aren't likely to get new cards with no abilities.
I’ve been missing about 3-4 cards consistently for about half a year now. Not once have I gotten a “new” card from the 4th Spotlight slot. And I’ve gotten the duplicate veryyyy often
Planning to pass on Fenris and Gorr to save up for December. Did get Malekith though and cannot believe how excellently he’s played! Biggest week I’m looking forward to is the Peni Parker week as it’s a 3-card week for me, as I’m missing Gladiator and Sasquatch and both are cards I’d like.
Free to play here, since Miles Morales season and the points Werewolf made there are valid. For those getting into the game. It is a better source of card aquisition for them. However i would still say that the card selection needs to be tuned in a positive way. More variety of the picks, when there are good cards like Baron Zemo and Gilgamesh who are yet to appear in the caches but cards like Legion and Havok having multiple weeks together and Blob now appearing for his 4th. That and the duplicate protection, or up the tokens, really tokens could be increased anyway, 100 in the collection level track and 1000 in the keys still feel like drops in the water, taking months to be able to get a card in this way. Or even the rare occasion where the duplicate is a card that is in the spolight cache that week, happened to me with Miek last time he was in, first pull was the random and then the variant.
MAILBAG; With Pokemon Pocket giving players 2-3 packs a day, when is it finally going to be time to give Players more than 1 spotlight key a week, or change the spotlight system entirely? As someone whos been playing since last year when Loki released, ive been losing interest in Snap simply because there's been too many cards released with the same pump and dump scheme, especially for season pass cards
I wish the spotlight keys were 50/50’s on the new cards… I had to 4 key the last 3 cards i went for. And that is such a terrible situation when you only get maybe 6000 tokens a year from playing. And opening caches
I’m excited for all the new cards coming to Snap. I’m interested in creating a somewhat themed deck for the Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m imagining playing down nebula in a location and throwing rocket and Groot on top to say “I dare you”. Similar things with Jean Grey to make Kitty players cry.
I have gotten 1 or 2 keys every week since they implemented this system and every time I get the mystery card it has been a duplicate and keep in mind that I am consistently missing about 15 cards in total. Some months I get lucky and get all the new cards and other times I get the spotlight variants for cards I already have. The card acquisition really needs to change or at least go back to giving use larger amounts of tokens when we pull them on the track. it fees bad when we have like 20 chests saved and go to open them and we don't get any tokens but when w finally do we get 100 tokens when series 5 card cost 6000. That's insane
I'm kinda surprised I haven't heard anyone mention yet thst we clearly know dakken us getting series dropped to a 3. Because we know that he's in January season pass variant.
Biting the bar of soap, always worse. It gets into your teeth and ud taste it for hours. Where just applying soap to tongue u could drink water to wash it away. My parents would even say we would have to sit there for a min on our tongue before we could drink something.
Thank you for calling out the issue of longevity with Malekith. I'm in that boat where I have enough tokens/keys to get him, but not enough to get what's coming in the next couple months as well. Knowing he's good, but not worth spending on is good information for the future. I want to see the numbers on Series 4 and 5 cards that have never been in a cache week after their release, or the cards that have been in the fewest caches. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like some cards are just existing as series 5 with maybe 1 variant. No upcoming caches and no reason to spend 6k on.
The spotlight cache system is so badly made, that even as a complete F2P player with only 4-5 months played, I still hit dupes from the random slot. Also many caches have cards that I already own, meaning they are being repeated within a few months even though there are soooo many cards I dont have, I'm not even Pool 3 complete
mailbag: do you guys feel like there’s a higher % chance for new cards to be randomly generated? for example, every time there’s a new card i get it from agent coulson or arishem. i’ve gotten malekith from arishem 3 times already and i don’t even play that much 😂
I understand both sides of the argument for spotlight caches being a season pass buyer and gold pass buyer exclusively. I pulled specifically for thena this week, grabbed Valentina on the first pull and was not happy, got thena on the second and stopped cause I want Fenrir. Wouldn't have been mad if I got mal, however Alex is spot on if you were to put a dollar value on each series. I'd hate to spend $60 on a $40 card, it just feels bad. Maybe instead of a key they just give you 6 k "dust" (as much as a new card token buy) and you roulette and whatever you land on it deducts the value of your "dust" cache. Just spit ballin here
Mailbag: Colossus's current state is abysmal especially considering how prominent he is in the X-men comics. What would you think of a text change along the lines of "Move an allied card here to another location and destroy (or remove X power from) a card there"? It would likely require a cost and power change as well but I think it would thematically represent the fastball special very well.
Can I just say I find it so funny hearing Cozy praise US Agent after how badly you guys ragged on it when it was new? I got it, because I love the character, and I am now so happy that I did.

I did't even consider getting Malekith and he seemd to be skipable for me, but after seen how he really performs I got him for keys and I must say that he is suprisingly good card. I spent all my keys at the moment, because december caches are not so good to spent keys imho, and i did't have Thena also. I'm really glad to have Malekith. Now I'm rather saving keys for january and thinking to spent my 12k tokens for Fenris and Doom 2099.
I think a tech card is any card that has a significant negative effect for the opponent personally. That can get tricky because a card like cassandra nova can be considered tech if thats the case, thats why i say significant.

I've been thinking about this for a long time and I haven't heard any of the content creators bring it up. Namely - exchanging unnecessary boosters for other, random boosters. I have a few thousand boosters and I know I won't use them up. I have a variant that I've upgraded a certain number of times and I like it. I don't plan on investing in it any more. Do you think something like this is possible?
Mailbag: Is it me or have the War of the Nine Realms chapter missions been much harder this season. I don’t know if they are all the same, but I have one to win 75 matches with a snap. The first week I think I had to play 100 4-cost cards. I didn’t even finish that until week two as a casual player.

I went from 96 to 88 in the last few days....can't catch up to Meta, with some key cards missing, my decks all get either destroyed by some counter, bad locations or bad card draw RNG, pretty frustrated with the game right now. dude... I play a zoo deck: Can't play cards til Round 4, cause i pull ALL MY TOP ONES
I agree 100% about duplicate protection. I’m mostly free to play, and I’m missing a bunch of Series 5 cards. Yet I’ve pulled three repeats from spotlight cashes, and I only got 1000 tokens? Really?
Alex the Spotlight need to go down to 3 to make it a 33% chance to pull the new card you're searching for. After that the next thing that really needs to be addressed is the collection level track. Boosters need to come off of the track...10 boosters every 15 levels is trash.

@ True. Saving for the future can get you the new card and the card you skipped now, protecting you from dupes.

I been getting duplicates with my keys too!! They need to give more tokens for duplicates IMO, 1000 is booty

How does one ask a question for the Snap Chat?
I want you guys to discuss the "Collector's Vault" which seems to appear randomly for a few days.
I think this is poorly implemented so far. The first set of 6 I can't remember, but I got 2 of the same card and none of cards I play a lot. This time, I got a Deadpool card (already have 2 variants), Apocalyspse (Have a variant I like), 2 Squirrel Girls (neither look as cool as the variant I have) and Namor and Black Widow who I use so rarely I wouldn't buy variants for.
Who are these vault's targeting? I have 13K gold, but it took about 10 seconds to look these over and go "nope."

I spent the 4 keys on Malekith because at the end of the day, it is a draw 1 card. I am currently messing around with a deck that involves mostly ongoing and the other draw cards (Crystal, Jubilee). I'm getting all 12 cards down on the board semi-consistently. Just a matter of needing a bit more power currently but I'm winning more than losing.

MAIL BAG: I just got back into SNAP.I started back during Phoenix force season I used to watch every week But fell off with the game and video a while back during the pixie season. catching on the podcast and videos of you both has been a blast being able to see all the changes and new cards, Just wanted to say thank you guys for all the great content. I will say, as far as my theory on shadow king rarely being popular, it’s because he affects your side of the board. Whenever I make a deck, I’m always tempted to add shadow king, but then I look at my deck and he’d be hurting me as much as my opponent. At least that’s most of the decks I end up playing, like phoenix force and Ajax. Because shadow king is so effective against so many decks, all of those decks can’t run him or he ends up extremely awkward
Hopping on the spotlight key complain train. I’m a collection level of 5000, and I’m missing most series 4/5 cards, and have rolled duplicates 5 times using keys. So frustrating and disappointing
Last week I got Red Guardian as my mystery card for tokens, then got red guardian spotlight variant before getting Frigga… it was absolutely brutal!
Hey, mostly collection complete player here, I ended up rolling this week so I could get both Malekith and Valentina, and to the point both Cozy and Alex are making on the weakness of the spotlights, this is the last week of the year when I need two of the cards in the cache, so it seemed worth it to roll.
Y’all brought up contest of champions on one side of the snapchat talking about collaborations. I used to play contest all the time and had no idea it even still existed
Spider-Ham - Love him in my decks with Shadow King. Love hitting those hard to play cards and having my opponent play them. Shadow King it down to 0 power is great!

I'm almost 50. When I was a kid, my mom would use liquid soap if I swore one pump. I quickly learned to just grab the soap and take a couple pumps and let loose with a chain of expletives but that ended that.
Mailbag: Love the co-lab between Rivals & Snap.. But i'm thinking bruce banner isn't portrayed correctly in Snap as he is in Rivals!.. I think when played he should give you a "Gamma Vial card" when played, Bruce banner HULKS out... "if destroyed" revert HULK back to bruce banner... That way you use 2 slots to get HULK 12 power, but a chance your opponent could destroy the vial to win! ~ I also agree playing Rivals should grant "Key's, or promo codes for variants"

been playing High Evo lately for fun and wondering if there's new cards which could have an unlocked effect. what if generated cards like squirrels, doom bots, Ultron drones, and demons all had unlocked effects? would need to alter High Evo's text but that'd be fun since we aren't likely to get new cards with no abilities.
I’ve been missing about 3-4 cards consistently for about half a year now. Not once have I gotten a “new” card from the 4th Spotlight slot. And I’ve gotten the duplicate veryyyy often

Biggest week I’m looking forward to is the Peni Parker week as it’s a 3-card week for me, as I’m missing Gladiator and Sasquatch and both are cards I’d like.
Free to play here, since Miles Morales season and the points Werewolf made there are valid. For those getting into the game. It is a better source of card aquisition for them. However i would still say that the card selection needs to be tuned in a positive way. More variety of the picks, when there are good cards like Baron Zemo and Gilgamesh who are yet to appear in the caches but cards like Legion and Havok having multiple weeks together and Blob now appearing for his 4th. That and the duplicate protection, or up the tokens, really tokens could be increased anyway, 100 in the collection level track and 1000 in the keys still feel like drops in the water, taking months to be able to get a card in this way. Or even the rare occasion where the duplicate is a card that is in the spolight cache that week, happened to me with Miek last time he was in, first pull was the random and then the variant.
MAILBAG; With Pokemon Pocket giving players 2-3 packs a day, when is it finally going to be time to give Players more than 1 spotlight key a week, or change the spotlight system entirely? As someone whos been playing since last year when Loki released, ive been losing interest in Snap simply because there's been too many cards released with the same pump and dump scheme, especially for season pass cards

I wish the spotlight keys were 50/50’s on the new cards… I had to 4 key the last 3 cards i went for. And that is such a terrible situation when you only get maybe 6000 tokens a year from playing. And opening caches

I’m excited for all the new cards coming to Snap. I’m interested in creating a somewhat themed deck for the Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m imagining playing down nebula in a location and throwing rocket and Groot on top to say “I dare you”. Similar things with Jean Grey to make Kitty players cry.
I have gotten 1 or 2 keys every week since they implemented this system and every time I get the mystery card it has been a duplicate and keep in mind that I am consistently missing about 15 cards in total. Some months I get lucky and get all the new cards and other times I get the spotlight variants for cards I already have. The card acquisition really needs to change or at least go back to giving use larger amounts of tokens when we pull them on the track. it fees bad when we have like 20 chests saved and go to open them and we don't get any tokens but when w finally do we get 100 tokens when series 5 card cost 6000. That's insane
What if pulling the dupe also refunded the spotlight key used??
I'm kinda surprised I haven't heard anyone mention yet thst we clearly know dakken us getting series dropped to a 3. Because we know that he's in January season pass variant.
Biting the bar of soap, always worse. It gets into your teeth and ud taste it for hours. Where just applying soap to tongue u could drink water to wash it away. My parents would even say we would have to sit there for a min on our tongue before we could drink something.
Thank you for calling out the issue of longevity with Malekith. I'm in that boat where I have enough tokens/keys to get him, but not enough to get what's coming in the next couple months as well. Knowing he's good, but not worth spending on is good information for the future.
I want to see the numbers on Series 4 and 5 cards that have never been in a cache week after their release, or the cards that have been in the fewest caches. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like some cards are just existing as series 5 with maybe 1 variant. No upcoming caches and no reason to spend 6k on.
The spotlight cache system is so badly made, that even as a complete F2P player with only 4-5 months played, I still hit dupes from the random slot.
Also many caches have cards that I already own, meaning they are being repeated within a few months even though there are soooo many cards I dont have, I'm not even Pool 3 complete
mailbag: do you guys feel like there’s a higher % chance for new cards to be randomly generated? for example, every time there’s a new card i get it from agent coulson or arishem. i’ve gotten malekith from arishem 3 times already and i don’t even play that much 😂
I understand both sides of the argument for spotlight caches being a season pass buyer and gold pass buyer exclusively. I pulled specifically for thena this week, grabbed Valentina on the first pull and was not happy, got thena on the second and stopped cause I want Fenrir. Wouldn't have been mad if I got mal, however Alex is spot on if you were to put a dollar value on each series. I'd hate to spend $60 on a $40 card, it just feels bad. Maybe instead of a key they just give you 6 k "dust" (as much as a new card token buy) and you roulette and whatever you land on it deducts the value of your "dust" cache. Just spit ballin here
Regarding tech cards, here’s a question that may have already been asked (sorry). How viable would a deck be that runs nothing but tech cards?
Mailbag: Colossus's current state is abysmal especially considering how prominent he is in the X-men comics. What would you think of a text change along the lines of "Move an allied card here to another location and destroy (or remove X power from) a card there"? It would likely require a cost and power change as well but I think it would thematically represent the fastball special very well.
Can I just say I find it so funny hearing Cozy praise US Agent after how badly you guys ragged on it when it was new? I got it, because I love the character, and I am now so happy that I did.

I did't even consider getting Malekith and he seemd to be skipable for me, but after seen how he really performs I got him for keys and I must say that he is suprisingly good card. I spent all my keys at the moment, because december caches are not so good to spent keys imho, and i did't have Thena also. I'm really glad to have Malekith. Now I'm rather saving keys for january and thinking to spent my 12k tokens for Fenris and Doom 2099.

I think a tech card is any card that has a significant negative effect for the opponent personally. That can get tricky because a card like cassandra nova can be considered tech if thats the case, thats why i say significant.
Mailbag: I've been working on fan-made card designs themed around the bosses from the Mega Man video game franchise, not just because it's my favorite video game franchise of all time but also because it drew a lot of inspiration from Marvel and even had several of its own series of comics! I've completed or near-completed exactly 80 of the 100 bosses I set out to design, and out of those 80, here are the 10 I most want to be added to Marvel Snap (I actually sorted all of these with 21 miscellaneous cards from S+ to D-, and these are the Mega Man cards from the S tiers). Mailbag Question: Have you guys played Marvel Puzzle Quest? What do you think of that game? I’ve played for years. I’ve stopped and gone back many times. I think it’s great but doesn’t seem to be very popular.
I've been thinking about this for a long time and I haven't heard any of the content creators bring it up.
Namely - exchanging unnecessary boosters for other, random boosters.
I have a few thousand boosters and I know I won't use them up.
I have a variant that I've upgraded a certain number of times and I like it. I don't plan on investing in it any more.
Do you think something like this is possible?
Mailbag: Is it me or have the War of the Nine Realms chapter missions been much harder this season. I don’t know if they are all the same, but I have one to win 75 matches with a snap. The first week I think I had to play 100 4-cost cards. I didn’t even finish that until week two as a casual player.
I used one of my keys and I rolled Valentina. I already have Thena so I I'll hold off til next week for Fenrir.
The random s4/s5 is always a dupe for me. I've never gotten anything new from that. And I'm missing roughly 12-15 cards.

I hope i get some good insight soon. I went from 96 to 88 in the last few days....can't catch up to Meta, with some key cards missing, my decks all get either destroyed by some counter, bad locations or bad card draw RNG, pretty frustrated with the game right now. dude...

I agree 100% about duplicate protection. I’m mostly free to play, and I’m missing a bunch of Series 5 cards. Yet I’ve pulled three repeats from spotlight cashes, and I only got 1000 tokens? Really?
Alex the Spotlight need to go down to 3 to make it a 33% chance to pull the new card you're searching for. After that the next thing that really needs to be addressed is the collection level track. Boosters need to come off of the track...10 boosters every 15 levels is trash.
