There can be many different interpretations of the same music. But I have to call into question anyone's appreciation for chazzanus who is misguided enough to use the word "screaming" in reference to Chazan Helfgot.
Carlebach wrote this early in his career and yes it has Modzitz influences .Dont forget Carlebch was influenced by the music of all the great chassidic Rebbes and their music.

I need to agree with alex. They took one of the most amazing and pure niggunim and stylized it, like many covers do. The drums and accompaniment are horrible. These gifted singers could have and should have, done it better.
