This was the final race of my rowing career. But it wasn’t just a race to me, it was the culmination of 4 years of work. I was representing the Stanford lightweight rowing team and wanted to make Stanford proud. #rowing

hi! this video literally made me cry and was so moving. although i am only a freshman in high school, i have been rowing for 3 years. all of the feelings you explained in this video of wanted to give up, being tired, not feeling good enough, etc totally resonated with me. this video made me want to row in college, so i can possibly experience the feeling you and your team did when you crossed that finish line. thank you for creating this beautiful film! very inspiring!!

Very true what you say about the moment of winning not feeling like you thought it would. Over a long life I've won a few times (chess and athletics mostly). And each time I thought I'd be punching the air. And every time it wasn't like that. It was usually relief. I can see how in team efforts it would be gratitude. I wonder if the anticipation of punching the air is something the cynical subconscious makes up to help people visualise winning? It's a much more powerful spur than imagining relief would be!
