@@steveeverett1736 Oogie Boogey! His range is insane, and it's truly shown in that song. For his solos, Sixteen Tons. For Voice Play, their Disney medleys are fun. Especially Little Mermaid Medley. Their creativity is...hilarious.

If you like the bass, Geoff's 16 Tons cover is great. If you want to see him stretch his nearly 5-octave range, High and Dry on his channel is your bet. But if you want to see how he sounds with other singers (and hear, in my opinion, one of the best beatboxers currently in the A Capella scene), check out the group he's in, VoicePlay. I'd suggest starting with Carry On Wayward Son from them.

@@Iansco1 I love Oogie Boogie's Song, but I'll admit that I don't think it's a very good introduction to *VoicePlay*, so I tend to recommend something else as a first song.

Geoff (pronounced Jeff). He has about a 5 octave range. Listen to his version on 16 Tons and Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold. He's the base for VoicePlay. Listen to their Disney Little Mermaid Medley where Geoff is ..... URSULA! (He even let them paint him blue!) He did a D5 to D1 slide that's AMAZING, but each member had their moment, even Geoff's childhood friend, Layne Stein, the VoicePlay beatboxed and with Geoff, does most of the arrangements. Do watch their version of We're Good, with 2 guest vocalists, one of whom is now VoicePlay's newest member.

If I Were a Rich Man/Girl and Friends On the Other Side (from The Princess and the Frog) came after a change in their lineup but didn't hurt their great talent. The Halo Theme brought back one of their original members (keep listening after the music). And just for their comedic side I think you'd get a kick out of watching VoicePlay The Chicken Song. My top 3 basses.
    1. Avi Kaplan, formerly of Pentatonix
    2. Geoff
    3. Tim Faust
    In this order.
All three have fabulous ranges but Avi is also an Overtone singer which gives him a sweet whistle tone ability and mercy, his resonance is just fabulous beyond anything I have heard.
He does not gat the attention he deserves because his personal writing is more to the Americana Folk sound, but he is fabulous!

I didn't know the background. Venus 501 had the skinny on it as well.
"During a concert in the US , before performing this song, Paul McCartney spoke on stage about the meaning of the song. After the show, during an interview, the meaning was further discussed:
I had been doing poetry readings. I had been doing some in the last year or so because I’ve got a poetry book out called Blackbird Singing, and when I would read “Blackbird”, I would always try and think of some explanation to tell the people, ’cause there’s not a lot you can do except just read the poem, you know, you read 10 poems that takes about 10 minutes, almost. It’s like, you’ve got to, just, do a bit more than that. So, I was doing explanations, and I actually just remembered why I’d written “Blackbird”, you know, that I’d been, I was in Scotland playing on my guitar, and I remembered this whole idea of “you were only waiting for this moment to arise” was about, you know, the black people’s struggle in the southern states, and I was using the symbolism of a blackbird. It’s not really about a blackbird whose wings are broken, you know, it’s a bit more symbolic.
Paul McCartney, Interview with KCRW’s Chris Douridas, 25 May 2002
So, basically, Blackbird was inspired by the racial tensions that exploded in the US on spring 1968 as a symbolic way to support the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement.
McCartney underlined also that “bird” is a British slang often used for “girl”, which would make “blackbird” become “black girl”. This lexical escamotage combined with the events back in 1960s seem to refer to Rosa Parks, a black woman who, while on a bus, refused to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled; she later become “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”.
Anyway, this song is so deep and at the same time so metaphoric that it can be used as a song of freedom in any circumstances. It sings that even if your not free, if you live in darkness, if your wings are broken and your eyes sunken, you should always try to arise, fly and follow the light that even in the darkest night shines.
Notably, Blackbird is one of the top ten most recorded covers of all time. I would like to present to you one of the best, in my opinion: the cover from Crosby, Still and Nash performed at Woodstock."

Wonderful!🤩 My recommendation to listen to next would be "Sound of Silence" from Geoff. I really appreciate it, that you are not one of these, who are completely steered by money

if you are a gamer of sorts you might like the Halo theme that voice play did. Make sure to watch it all. Great memorial at the end for a lost friend

Listen to Homefree. They do country Accapella and Opera and rock. Mainly country. The beat boxer Adam Rupp is one of the best in the world.

showed my wife a few of his songs and she isnt impressed since he dont growl and she is a death metal head so i guess it makes sense plus she told me about Tim Storms which sings even lower in fact has world record for lowest singing voice and yeah Geoff is good with his 7 octaves but Tim blows him out of the water with his 10 octaves totally insane
