Awsome video. Thanks for making it. This is the type of info the average back yard mechanic is missing when building a motor. I am currently rebuilding a 2010 600RS and my crank is a fully oiled bearing crank but the parts fiche calls for ISO flex grease. Im guessing I have a different bottom end.

I need some advice on how to tell if my crank bearings are bad, never had a snowmobile apart to know. I assume the crank with cylinders off should spin smooth and free right?!

I like the old rotax 583,643 and the 670. Use a rotax 670 in my old yamaha, but i have taken out 4 or 5 conrod bearing on the mag side. Oilpump delite, aprox 1:32 oil mix in the gas, flatslides and short intake, tunnelporting and just a little work to the cylinders, never figuerd out why killing the conrod bearing mag side. Got my hands on one rotax ptek 800, but thats not what i want in my exciter, want a 670 if i figure out what couses t mag problem..

Yeah those older 617, 643, and 670 cranks are great. Not sure what is causing your mag side failures. Those Rotax cranks usually take a lot of abuse before they fail.

You can't do the snow x rods on an 850 correct? Cause only brp can rebuild them?

well the 1992 mach one had to swap the whole crank none of it was rebuildable coming from the dealer had to exchange the origional crank for a new crank complete. that is interesting
that a crank can be pulled apart to repair

Are u shure. I beleve they are rebuldable, looks a lot like the 670 crank, 670 can be rebuilt, they even put 2 cranks together and make a 4syl out of 2 rotax 670 side by side. Dont knowe for shure witch type off crank cranckshops tripple rotax 670 based race engine has, also has 4syl race engine. One 4syl crankshop race engines has been in norway aprox 15years, 2000cc 2t engine, ive prepped the race track for em to do their first testruns, it blew 1drivebelt each 1/8 run

Would a 2009 800 crank and pistons work in a 2008 800 engine or would the timing be off like explained on the Etek? I know the flywheel from the 2008 would not work.

Looking at an 03 mxz800 renegade (pre rev chassis) is this motor known to fail crank bearings?

So what’s the life span of these 800s. I’m hearing 4000 miles is about it, then 5K to rebuild them ?

I had an 800 HO rebuilt last year, cost me $1800, complete from crank to piston. I pulled the motor, and dropped it off.

just get your crankshaft rebuilt by a professional crank rebuilder and make sure their good cheaper than buying a new one and safer than ordering one on line! or if you have a press and know what your doing rebuild your own!

But what is the reason that those wont keep straight and balanced? I have second 800 etec now with 2600km in it and that f**kin engine is already wobling and jumping around.🤬
They are really nice engines from other parts but that crank..

    • @Pneumamechanical

Will true & welding keep them straight?

  • @mikeversluis1347

They're all the same all those cranks blow out at 2500 miles they finally got rid of isoflex grease they should have been all oil bearings from the start

    • @rockymountainchainsaw
      @rockymountainchainsaw  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes they should have been. Isoflex is a pain. Now we are dealing with 850 crank problems and issues. I have about 50 of the 850 non turbo cranks to rebuild atm.

Some good info here, but U forgot to mention they are all Junk! Arctic Cat puts real cranks in their engines not disposable crap like BRP. Do a video showing how robust the Cat crank is in comparison. If U know for one that is out of the engine for repair!
