Oamaru Private Hut - Heli Sika hunt. This is a great block with amazing country and a very comfortable hut. On this mission we saw a ton of deer but nothing shootable for us.
Good trip down memory lane.. many trips into here as a young fulla. Cut my teeth hunting sika in this block back when Christine and Arthur where flying in.. dragged a lot of deer outta here over the years. Cheers for the vid boys
Nice one guys. Did a couple of trips here and to the other huts with Air Charter back in the day. Sika are fun to hunt and a lot lighter to carry than reds.
Did you see any or get squealed at even? i thought these grounds were crawling with deer, mobs of 10s & 20s,, well that's the impression i was under,, nice hut & surrounds.
Yes we say about 11 I think. A few on the station land that runs to the river and a few on the block but not shootable. The call through Sika Saddle is epic!!! So much sign!! Good block - it still smart deer.

Yes we did through Sika Saddle - but didn’t get any footage sorry. Lots of sign in there and got squealed at a few times.
We just came out of there and it’s a pity people don’t take all the shit with them when they leave

Used to go to this block heaps, good for spotlighting before it became illegal, most I saw over sika saddle was 15 or more.
I thought sika where only in the north Island?
What I mean by that comment as all the booze bottles left behind
