Chandigarh, the capital of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana, was designed by the Swiss-French modernist architect, Le Corbusier. His buildings include the Capitol Complex with its High Court, Secretariat, and Legislative Assembly, as well as the giant Open Hand Monument. The nearby Rock Garden is a park featuring sculptures made of stones, recycled ceramics, and industrial relics.
It was one of the early planned cities in post-independence India and is internationally known for its architecture and urban design.

Love my city. My grandparents came from Lahore to Ludhiana and then settled here in Chandigarh in the year 1955 as they say. I’m now a third generation resident here. It was conceived to be the capital of Punjab. A lot of refugees from West Punjab made Chandigarh their home. What a great city, beautiful memories. 🇮🇳

Old memories relived ... first visit to this city was in 1961 ... with my father to meet S Partap Sungh Kairon, then CM of Punjab ... 2nd time came here in 1965 for further studies in PU Campus for 4 yrs ... again in 1971 when I joined THE TRIBUNE nd served there till Oct 2011 ... I have seen this city grow for 50 yrs ... very nice video .. thnx for it

The best city to live in India. No other city compares to what chandigarh is. I had privilege that it's my birth place and all my childhood memories are with chandigarh. Though I miss era of 1980's when everything in Chandigarh was well planned and properly taken care of. No tall grass, no vehicular chaos, no pollution etc. But still I love my city.

I am living in chandigarh since I was born. My grandfather born in 1940 at chandigarh before independence and his father too lives in chandigarh, so my grand grandfather also living here before my grandfather's birth. Before establishing chandigarh there were 22 villages, all were removed before making chandigarh but some of them were left at the outskirts like manimajra, hallomajra... 😇😇😇😇

@@maankhushwinder7934 chandigarh was not a city at that time it was a group of villages and hallomajra manimajra both and other villages were part of chandigarh city only. It was made city after abolishing all 22 villages and all the villagers were then settled outside city or in outskirts but in chandigarh itself.

I love my city. This is the place where I was born. 90s mein Chandigarh ki population bohot km hoti thi. Logon mein pyar hota tha. Ek doosre ki support karte the. Joint families hua krti thi. Now sab khatam ho gya. At that time fashion hota tha Pr hisab ka. And now log western lifestyle ko adopt kr rhe hain. Dikhawa jada ho gya gai. Ek doosre se age badne ki hord lag gai hai. Log ek doosre ki tang kechne ki koshish krte hain. Koi ek doosre ki khushi ko bardasht nai sr skta. Sb swarthi ho gye hain. Bohot dukh hota hai. Pr ab zehi sach hai. Purani yaade ab sirf yaadon mein hi reh gayi. I love Chandigarh ❤️❤️😢

Today's Railway Station of Chandigarh was known as "Dadiwa" Station. Dadiwa was small village adjoining railway station. We used to come by train from Mubarak Pur (Ghaghhar Rly station)to reach Mansa Devi.
@2:03 silsila at Neelam theater can be seen and states that it was taken in 1963 but the film came out in 1981.

Chandigarhs foundation was laid in 1953 by Indias first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.
The shot of NEELAM CINEMA (2:02) is of early 80s & not 1963..... The poster is of movie SILSILA & it was released in 1983.....
