Sachin Tendulkar tour: My secret 3am ritual before matches

  • World famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar offers Graham a personally guided tour to destinations that had a profound impact on his trajectory towards eventually playing for Team India, including the playground where he got into trouble with friends, the apartment he lived in for four years with his aunt and uncle and the park where he eventually ascended to play for the Men in Blue. Tendulkar explains why he had to mature at a young age, why he drives around with two phones and why he visited a specific temple very early in the morning before every match.

Maybe , but he let down many of us Indians in crucial matches and overseas tests. Only scored in 2008 eng test win and 1999 Pakistan in Chennai. Otherwise he used to let is down in 4 th innings, esp on challenging pitches..so not a matchwinner. In ODIs he was great on flat tracks and in Sharjah ( those 1998 performance came against a 2nd string aussie lineup without McGrath, Gillespie etc). In crucial matches vs aus in 1999 wc, 2003 wc he flopped. Also 2007 wc against Lanka. But yes, on flat pitches..he was king. Must give him credit!

@@IITianProudIndian he carried the team singlehandedly in many situations. The pressure on him at all times was probably the most any human being can ever experience. No other cricketer before or after has experienced that pressure. He is the individual who's responsible for inspiring a whole generation of cricketers - AND he played with them as well! He hit a double century when he was quite old. A lot of his poor performances came during the time he was Injured

@@IITianProudIndian may be if you check bit more then you might learn something.
      You talk about crucial matches?
How about odi finals. Crucial enough. Tendulkar averages around 55.
How about world cups. Important enough? Average around 55.
How about the most pressure matches ie against pak in world cups? Averages 79.
So your ignorance is your problem.

@@parthsavyasachi9348 And your lack of any intellect is your big problem. World cup includes matches against namimbia, zim, kenya(where he hit 140, his only innings of note in 99), bermuda. Except for maybe against pakistan in 2003(98, against a ageing pakistan attack). And i want his average on overseas wickets in 2nd innings, where he has been an utter flop. He is at best flat pitch king!! So instead of blindly looking at averages like a moron, i suggest you learn to look at data first. Then bark!

I once saw him sip coffee next to me at a restaurant. He was wearing similar glasses and had a hat on. For a minute I wasn't sure if it was him because he wasn't wearing any super-branded/designer clothes (just regular jeans and t-shirt with sandals) and there were no escorts or anything with him. Since it was a rush hour and he was one of the shorter guys on the floor probably nobody noticed. Only when a 7-series BMW pulled up to pick him up - I realised it was him. The manager also confirmed to the same later. And this was when he was already played 50+ ODIs and was advertising for big brands. Very unassuming and humble!

There were great players who had played the game and there would be great ones who would grace this game . But no one had an impact as much as he had . Humility personified
