HIGHLIGHTS: Martín Maldonado Homers in White Sox Victory Over Cleveland (7.3.24)

RHP Erick Fedde made his 18th start of the season, 11th on the road and third against the Cleveland Guardians. He went 6.0 IP with 3 hits, 1 ER, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.
Justin Anderson, Tanner Banks and Steven Wilson all came in for relief.
In the top of the 1st, Andrew Vaughn singled on a sharp line drive to left fielder Steven Kwan to bring home Luis Robert Jr. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Guardians tied it up with a sac fly from David Fry to send Daniel Schneemann home, making the score 1-1.
The Good Guys came out hot in the 4th to take the lead! Nicky Lopez’s RBI double plated Lenyn Sosa. Martín Maldonado’s RBI single then brought Nicky home, followed by Andrew Benintendi’s 2-RBI double scoring both Martín and Tommy Pham! The runs made the score 5-1 in favor of the White Sox.
In the top of the 7th, Lenyn Sosa added on an insurance run with a ground ball to center fielder Daniel Schneemann to drive in Luis Robert Jr. In the bottom of the 7th, the Guardians added one of their own as Brayan Rocchio homered to right field.
In the top of the 8th, Martín Maldonado put it on the board! The 2-run homer was his 2nd home run of the 2024 season and extended the White Sox lead to 8-2.
The White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 8-2, at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH on July 3, 2024.Following this series at the Guardians, the White Sox will conclude the trip this weekend at Miami before returning to Guaranteed Rate Field for a six-game homestand vs. Minnesota (7/8-10) and Pittsburgh (7/12-14) prior to the All-Star break.

Check the Sox page on the MLB website. It was his second homer of the season. But he's still batting .096.
I understand that Maldonado has been great in teaching Kory Lee the tools of the trade. Maybe its time for him to get a second career as a coach.

1:50 -- I would think that Kwan could play a carom off the wall better than that in his own home ballpark. Actually, looking at it a second time, the ball hit off the bottom of the wall. It was catchable.
