I have done a few hats and I just burn them with no problem with the ashes smearing. If you have a problem you can buy a hat sponge and that should be able to clean it.
I have the exact same burner. The temperature on mine is set in Volts not %. So with that being said, are you using it at 75 volts???? That seems really hot for felt as I use it at 59volts for burning wood. Can you confirm please. Very interested in this process.
Gigs up Etsy sellers. 1st DIY I've seen on this subject. Thank you for sharing! Great video
I can't wait to start doing this to my hats :) great video love that fun design!
Thank you!
Great video! I haven’t been able to find many on this process. Is it a natural “fur felt” or polyester felt?
Thank you! I am honestly not sure… It is a Stetson hat, when I looked it up it says it is a fur felt hat.
You can also take clean your tips on a fine sand paper
Did you hand draw the image? I’ve been trying to figure out how to easily transfer images to the hat.
Yes I just free handed it. I’m not sure but maybe transfer paper will work?
What material is best to burn?
That’s so cool.
Sky what is that square block they use to rub on the hats, looks like they do that after spraying with acrylic paint
They are probably hat sponges. It’s a way to clean your felt hats.
How do you keep the ash from smearing onto the clean parts of the hat? Is there a sealer or something you use?

That is how my windmill pumps water into a the tank.
What did you use to draw on the windmill?
I used a pencil.
Can you link or share the burner from
Amazon?
I have the same question? Wish Burner is he using?
How do you seal the hat so the burnt part doesn’t flake and wear off?
I have not sealed the ones I did.
Awesome! What temperature do you set your pen at?
Thank you! I usually turn it up to 75% to start and then adjust as needed.
@@skylarwagner1155 thank you 😊

I start out about about 75, because I like to burn hot and fast. From there I adjust as necessary.
What material are these hats made of?
These hats are made of felt. I have also burned some made of wool.
How do you get the burnt smell out of the hat?
Just let get it air out, it takes a while but that’s what I do.
What temperature do you have your burning tool set to?
Around medium heat and then adjust accordingly
