Dorothy died on 9/7/2012 (RIP) in Arizona. These three sisters had amazing talent and packaged it all with such glamour, elegance, and grace. Even in 1984, there are all still mesmerizing. Not too many of today's stars would sing impromptu as this trio, but when you have their talent, it is probably quite easy, Dorothy was my favorite and find it sad that she is no longer with us.
According to news articles about the sisters, their mutual arrangement was that Christine handled the clothes buying, Dorothy managed the money and Phyllis did the talking.
@ChopGaMan You're right...and don't forget the Boswell Sisters, from the early 1930's who were the inspiration for the Andrew Sisters...another important group was the Trio Lescano, from Italy...lots of the songs that the Andrew Sisters sang had been composed before by the Trio Lescano! Isn't that a pleasure to remember these fabulous times and sounds?
@spintation The comeback was a great success with lots of TV appearances, club and theater dates. Their last appearance was on a PBS tribute to the 1950's music about three years ago, that is constantly rebroadcast during PBS pledge drives. The strange and sad thing is that although their 'comeback' years lasted longer than the original career, they never made a recording as a trio, although several projects were announced but never materialized. Phyllis did cut a duet with Barry Manilow.
