Sure appreciate your care and craftsmanship in this truck. I like it that it is functional on a daily basis. I am sure you would not sell a work of love like this and since I am new to this give me an honest idea if you were to sell this what you would want as a builder of fine hardware please. Vic F.
Yes, Vintage Air heat and a/c. I may add a couple of photos once the unit and interior have been completed. Of course, there are the vent windows and cowl vent. 😁
How did you manage to get the 2500 hubs on the front axle? I'm inheriting my grandfather's 54 dump truck and I've always wanted to take the dump bed off and put a flatbed on it and I absolutely LOVE what you've done with this one!
Thank you for your compliment. There was a company in Texas owned by David Chapman that made a kit based primarily on a 2003 Chevy 2500 HD Turbo diesel calipers and rotors from late ‘70s to early ‘80s K30/K35 with dual rear wheels. David produced a bracket to affix these parts to the ‘51 hub/spindle. Unfortunately David passed away and I’m not sure if anyone has continued making and selling his kit. The company was called The Hollister Road Company. The bracket was well made and the parts to assemble the conversion readily available. It sure is nice having the heavy duty disc brakes. If I remember correctly David also sold a modified steering arm but that may have been from Nostalgia Sid's. I may not have mentioned that Sid lowered the stock front axle about 4” for me. Again, another great service. I still have a copy of the front brake conversion instructions from Sid if you want to contact me on how to get you a copy.
@@stevez3510 oh okay. I've been wanting to do something different but cool to this old dump truck and what you done with this couldn't be anymore perfectly what I'd like to do, I just want to update the hubs and stuff to use different wheels say for a 3/4 or 1 ton dually like you've done.
Hi, I'm a follower of yours from Mexico. I wanted to ask you at 1:08 about the disc brakes. I know it's from a chevy 2500, I would like to know how you did the adaptation and what model the discs are. I await your comment, thank you.
Hi Cesar, thank you for your interest in this project. Unfortunately the adapter for the front disc brakes on the truck were made by a gentleman in Texas who has since passed away. There may be someone else who makes the adapter, but I don't know. The parts list that came with the adapter I purchased states that the rotors used are from “late 70’s early 80’s K30 K35 with dual rear wheels”. I hope this helps.
Beautiful job!
Very awesome build
Thank you very much. More, and completed, pictures are posted on Facebook Marketplace as I just posted Gramps for sale.
Nice job. I like it.
Now that's old school cool 😎

Vic, thank you for your very kind words. Someone else also appreciated this “fine hardware”. Gramps is now enjoying life at an exotic chicken ranch. 😁
Love it
Fabulous job. I love the interior motif and craftsmanship. Is it air-conditioned?

Like the job! What model of 2500 disc brake ? How to make it fit?
I want to see the blinkers on the mirrors on.
