تتناول القصة حياة يعقوب، الذي وُلد توأمًا مع عيسو، وتربيته في عائلة أنبياء. تتبع القصة علاقته مع عيسو، ورحلته إلى خاله لابان، ورؤيته السلم التي ربطت السماء بالأرض. يعقوب يعمل لدى لابان ويتزوج من راحيل، ويصبح نبيًا يدعو للتوحيد. كما تتناول القصة محنته مع ابنه يوسف، وفقدانه للبصر بسبب الحزن، ثم reunion مع يوسف في مصر، وأيامه الأخيرة قبل وفاته.
Jacob was born alongside his twin brother Esau, with Jacob being the younger of the two. Raised in a household blessed with prophethood, Jacob's father, Isaac, and grandfather, Abraham, were both prophets. From a young age, Jacob was known for his wisdom, balance, and good character.
وُلِد يعقوب مع شقيقه التوأم عيسو، وكان يعقوب الأصغر بينهما. نشأ في أسرة مُباركة بالنبوة، حيث كان والده إسحاق وجده إبراهيم كلاهما أنبياء. منذ صغره، عُرف يعقوب بحكمته وتوازنه وطيب أخلاقه.
Although Jacob and Esau were twins, their personalities and interests sharply contrasted. Jacob leaned towards piety and obedience, while Esau was strong, inclined to worldly affairs and hunting.
على الرغم من أن يعقوب وعيسو توأمان، إلا أن شخصياتهما واهتماماتهما كانت متناقضة بشدة. كان يعقوب يميل إلى التقوى والطاعة، بينما كان عيسو قويًا، يميل إلى الأمور الدنيوية والصيد.
This difference sparked conflicts, especially when Jacob received the blessing Isaac intended for Esau, causing Esau to harbour thoughts of revenge.

After the rift with his brother deepened, Jacob's mother, Rebecca, advised him to seek refuge with his uncle Laban in Haran. Isaac blessed this decision, wishing upon Jacob prosperity and righteous progeny. This journey marked the beginning of a new chapter.
بعد أن تعمقت الفجوة مع شقيقه، نصحت والدة يعقوب، رفقة، باللجوء إلى عمه لابان في حاران. بارك إسحاق هذا القرار، متمنيًا ليعقوب الازدهار والذرية الصالحة. كانت هذه الرحلة بداية فصل جديد.
On his way to Haran, Jacob experienced a significant vision: a ladder connecting heaven and earth, with angels ascending and descending upon it. He heard God's promise to be with him, protect him, and bless him with prosperity. Jacob awoke optimistic, vowing to make the place a house for worship.
في طريقه إلى حاران، شهد يعقوب رؤية مهمة: سلم يربط بين السماء والأرض، مع ملائكة تصعد وتنزل عليه. سمع وعد الله بأن يكون معه، ويحميه، ويباركه بالازدهار. استيقظ يعقوب متفائلًا، عازمًا على جعل المكان بيتًا للعبادة.
Jacob reached Laban and worked for him for many years. He fell in love with Rachel, Laban's younger daughter, and agreed to serve seven years to marry her. After this period, Laban married him to his elder daughter "Leah," and later, to Rachel after another seven years of service.
وصل يعقوب إلى لابان وعمل لديه لسنوات عديدة. وقع في حب راحيل، ابنة لابان الصغرى، ووافق على العمل سبع سنوات للزواج منها. بعد هذه الفترة، تزوج لابان من ابنته الكبرى "ليئة"، ولاحقًا من راحيل بعد سبع سنوات أخرى من الخدمة.
Jacob fathered 12 sons and a daughter, who became the tribes of Israel.
أنجب يعقوب 12 ابنًا وابنة، الذين أصبحوا قبائل إسرائيل.
God revealed to Jacob, choosing him as a prophet, following in his father’s and grandfather's footsteps. Jacob called his people to worship God alone, urged his children to uphold Abraham’s monotheistic faith, and warned them against idolatry.
أعلن الله ليعقوب، مختارًا إياه كنبي، سائرًا على خطى والده وجده. دعا يعقوب قومه لعبادة الله وحده، وحث أولاده على التمسك بإيمان إبراهيم التوحيدي، وحذرهم من عبادة الأوثان.
Jacob loved his son Joseph dearly, sparking envy among Joseph’s brothers. They plotted against Joseph, throwing him into a well and telling Jacob a wolf had eaten him. Jacob grieved deeply but continued to pray and exhibit patience.
أحب يعقوب ابنه يوسف حبًا شديدًا، مما أثار غيرة إخوته. دبروا مكيدة ضد يوسف، وألقوه في بئر وأخبروا يعقوب أن ذئبًا قد أكله. حزن يعقوب حزنًا عميقًا لكنه استمر في الدعاء والتحلي بالصبر.
Years passed, and Jacob remained sorrowful over Joseph's loss, eventually losing his sight due to excessive weeping. Nevertheless, he did not lose faith, repeatedly expressing hope in God's reunion with Joseph.
مرت السنوات، وظل يعقوب حزينًا على فقدان يوسف، حتى فقد بصره بسبب كثرة البكاء. ومع ذلك، لم يفقد إيمانه، معبرًا مرارًا عن الأمل في لقاء الله مع يوسف.
Upon Joseph’s revelation of his identity in Egypt, he sent his shirt to restore his father's vision. An overjoyed Jacob praised God for reuniting them after years of separation and trials.
عند كشف يوسف عن هويته في مصر، أرسل قميصه لاستعادة بصر والده. مدح يعقوب الله بشدة على لم شملهم بعد سنوات من الفراق والاختبارات.
Jacob returned with his family to Egypt to reside near Joseph. Before his death, he gathered his children, urging them to remain steadfast in monotheism. Jacob passed away aged 147 and was buried beside his father Isaac and grandfather Abraham in the Cave of Machpelah in Palestine.
