Im not fan of vijay or not biased on one side, what i've seen the movie i mention how Ghilli fares better than Okkadu. As almost all fans compares only heroes i try to differentiate other areas where ghilli surpasses okkadu 1) Music - Vidyasagar >>> Mani sharma Mani sharma was brilliant music director, we seen him in some tamil movies had done good songs such as Shahjahan, and the extraordinary BGM of Ezhumalai for Arjun's mass scenes which made goosebumps etc., he done original version good, but eventhough it wasnt enough. Vidyasagar just overtaken him with ease as like South africa chases australia on mammoth 438/434. BGM and Songs did enormously best from Vidyasagar so he's the major shareholder on part of Ghilli's success. 2) Prakashraj - Muthupandi >>>>> obul reddy Prakashraj was versatile actor who performs monsterous acting in any character given to him. His first original villainism in okkadu was good, but in Ghilli he was moulded even much better by Dharani as Muthupandi where character got tuned over powered and more aggressive lovable antagonist. Even today there are many people who celebrate Muthupandi more than Saravanavelu. 3) Supporting Characters - Ghilli >> Okkadu Supporting characters are one of the pillars of movie to make story interesting to move each frame, by that way, ghilli had much better supporting roles, especially vijay's sister jenifer, vijay's friends dhamu, nagendra prasad & team, sorry to include heroine here but special mentioning Trisha done much much better performance than Bhoomika chawla. For father role, both sides are tied, but from our point of view, ashish vidyarthi done great job. Last but not least, Kabaddi is the sport of TN and it suits perfectly to Ghilli, not for okkadu as they could've find their local sport to be honest. For Neutral viewers, watch Ghilli first then okkadu and neutralists feel which is better, no need to say it. Cheers ;)

The one reason I like okkadu better tha Ghilli is that the Tamil version has extra overaction scenes that sets in lag while okkadu is subtle with its story. The father is also supportive of the son playing Kabaddi is because the son would get in through the sports quota for a government job. The songs in both are awesome but Mani Sharma takes the win by one point and it's because the songs in okkadu are again subtle and not in ur face like in Ghilli. They also blend in perfectly with the situation around them. For example Arjunar Villu is an excellent song and hypes up people but sahasam is a song that is softer but the lyrics are the one that carry it. It also is a road trip vibe and carries the purpose easing the audience into the scene after the song which is lighter after a tense action set piece. Filmmaking standards of okkadu are also higher coz the director chose new age techniques by letting the characters dictate the situation rather than using outdated camera and sound effects. Obul Reddy in Okkadu is more obsessive the heroine which is why he was shown like that but more or less they're the same character. Kabaddi also plays a major role in Okkadu than Ghilli. Yes in Ghilli, the father not supporting the hero is a good point but in Okkadu the hero literally has everyone's support for kabaddi yet he choses everytime to protect the heroine endangering his dreams. Over all I think Ghilli is a good film but when it comes to relevance and a better film Okkadu takes the win coz it showed filmmakers and the audience you don't need over action to generate audience applause

Obul Reddy in Okkadu is more obsessive the heroine which is why he was shown like that but more or less they're the same character. Kabaddi also plays a major role in Okkadu than Ghilli. Yes in Ghilli, the father not supporting the hero is a good point but in Okkadu the hero literally has everyone's support for kabaddi yet he choses everytime to protect the heroine endangering his dreams. Over all I think Ghilli is a good film but when it comes to relevance and a better film Okkadu takes the win coz it showed filmmakers and the audience you don't need over action to generate audience applause
