    Worked great on my A50 Gen3, I can actually hear/feel the clicks when rotating it now!
    I actually had the opposite problem: any rotation made the volume decrease, and pushing the wheel towards the inside made it *slightly* work.

    Omg this worked! I have PS4 gen 3 and there were no exppsed screws, all 4 were hidden screws under the foam. I carefully pried up the edges until I found all 4.
    It also took multiple attempts for it to work, so don't give up if it doesn't work right away. I did everything he showed, but i used a q-tip instead of a toothbrush and carefully cleaned it. It didn't work. So I got a toothbrush and cleaned it a bit more vigorously, and that worked!
    Also, if it's not working, the metal piece the wheel connects to could be bad, so take the wheel out of the plastic holder and stick it straight into the metal housing and turn it up and down while listening to see if the volume changes. If it does, it just needs more cleaning. If not, then the piece needs to be replaced.
    Thank you for this video!

    Thank you!!! I just fixed mine. I also cleaned the power switch that was having issues consistantly turning on. Seems to have fixed that as well.

    If you have the A50's that have the magnetic ear-cuffs on the outside but cannot find the screws to access the internal part like me (I'm not 100% if mine are Gen 3 or Gen 4, but they're green with a toggle on the charging base between Xbox and PC mode), then they're likely hidden underneath the grey foam padding that covers the speaker. Just peel off a bit of the top and the bottom to access them. For the life of me I couldn't find the screws but another video showed me that part after your video showed me how to clean the wheel. Mission accomplished so thank you very much!

    Thanks for the video, worked on my A50. Volume wheel would not increase or decrease volume, after following your video the wheel works very well and I can feel the clicking as I rotate the wheel again. Much appreciated.

    i tried anything possible, i've made a hard reset, i´ve looked up for a lot of reddit forums and they say that it was imposible to do something because it was a hardware problem, and then i saw your video on my feed and i say "whatever, it doesn't even work" but im very happy cause now i can feel the clicky and it works very well, mine are astro a50 gen 4 so really, thank you so much, (sorry for my bad england i'm not a native speaker)

    Does anyone know what could be causing my Dolby surround to not work anymore? The switch on the headset and the button on the mixamp does nothing. I can open it up again, but I don't know which side is the culprit or what to even test for.

    Any solution for stuttering audio in a50?

    • @VestigialVoice
      @VestigialVoice  ปีที่แล้ว

      At best, it sounds like an interface (software) issue. What happens to the audio when the headset is plugged into a different computer or gaming console?

    Man I have the Xbox a29 gen 2 where the wheel volume isn’t responsive, it just stays as 50% volume but for party chat I can move that because of the buttons but not for game volume.

      Interesting. Were you able to fix your wheel?

    • @aigneymie
      @aigneymie 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the same issue on my gen3 (the green Xbox/PC ones with the toggle) - after you take off the outer magnetic ear cuff, the screws are actually underneath the next set of foam padding in the middle where your ear would touch against the speaker. Just peel off a bit of the top and bottom and you should get access. You can re-glue after you fix, or in my case since they're still attached in the middle, then the magnetic piece keeps the rest in place.

      You're kidding? How were the internals different?

      No idea looked the exact same I completely removed wheel and little housing mechanism the wheel sits in. Took the alcohol you recommended which I’m purchased at Walmart. Scrubbed the wheel and the thing the wheel sits in in the actual headset. Scrubbed everywhere the wheel touched. Let it dry put back together. And nothing slightly better but still problematic.
      Mine also doesn’t audibly click. It may be a gen 3 Astro a50 grey green

    I guarantee you that ASTRO is still selling this hardware trash with no consideration for the obvious software solution. Who wants to buy headphones this expensive with a problem this common?

    • @VestigialVoice
      @VestigialVoice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dang, Aaron, ASTRO must have done you dirty, huh? lol
      Of note, between A50 gen 3 and 4, Astro was bought out by Logitech (2017).
      I agree, their somewhat recent software update, which left many A50's fatally bricked, should not be tolerated behavior from a premium product, or rather, one that attempts to command a "premium quality" price tag.
      Fortunately, earlier editions often show up on aftermarket websites and can be modified (new battery) or repaired relatively easily. I invite you to check out my brief playlist of Astro A50 videos, Aaron, should you decide to dive in. Have a great week 😃

      @@VestigialVoice Mine don't have any screws, I will have to find a way to remove something. But yeah, you turn the wheel a thousand times and it barely makes any change at all, sometimes doing the opposite of what you are telling it to do. Thanks for making the video! (EDIT: Ok, so you have to pop the felt cover off to get to the holes on the newer models)
