Sophisticated? Vanessa Redgrave is sophisticated. Cate is a good actress for Hollywood. Maggie Smith, Helen Mitten and even Sandra Bullock. Jodie Foster, Alicia Vikander... Not Cate who keeps performing even during an interview. She is seducing all the time
That "Coz there is only 8 women working in Hollywood" it was soooo spontaneous, so natural, she is a huge critic of how the amount of women shown in Hollywood are little talented compared to the ones that are truly talented and have worked hard to get there.
This interview was such a delight to watch! Cate is so well-spoken, witty and intelligent, it is fascinating to listen to her and Stephen matches her intellectually plus allows her to talk (as interviewers should!), it was awesome.
Considered her to be someone who could actually make a profound point and expected her to do that when she was asked a good question. Turns out it's Hollywood all over again. Shallowest part of the interview.
Can we take a moment to appreciate Cate Blanchett. All in all seems like a good person. A regal voice, a brilliant actress, doesn't come across as being full of her own importance and pretentious, well spoken and intelligent, and is a very good looking woman for her age.
Nicolas Exactly. She was appearing on a comedy/talk show and that's how she proves that she doesn't take herself too seriously. I find that a nice change from many actors.
Newfound respect for Cate Blanchett, I'm a little jealous of how happy and successful she is at promoting such positive cultural discourse, but so glad to see it can happen. Brilliant interview.
Lennie Godber Fine actress, but a pathological liar. Before she become famous, no one had a nice thing to say about her, even at NAIDA. Incidentally she happens to be half American. Her father was from Texas. Everyone loves to go to Hollywood to make a name for themselves, and make a fortune. Then they go away and bitch about the USA. Let’s face it, the English and Australian do not pay their actors well.
I love her to death but since Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 2, every time I hear someone saying she's a great actress, in the back of my mind there's Tituss going: "Is she? Or is she just tall?"
I agree with Kate; we Americans have been 'sold on sugar'--it's in our bread, our meat, everything. My wife was from Europe, and she taught me that. Bread should not have sugar; neither should meat.
Cate is one of the SEXIEST women ever. She has a unique look and she's stunning.... but its really her intelligence and character that make her wayyy sexier than any other living actress...
Robert's Art Studio Under rated? She's Hollywood's sweetheart, who doesn't love that ethereal woman. Maybe from the audience but definitely not unrecognized in her work.
She is beautiful, she is elegant, she is funny and she is so friendly that me, a teenager who is 32 years younger than her, finds her attractive. Such a fan of her.
when she talked about marginalizing the cultural elite I had Ricky Gervais flashbacks. As articulate and classy as Cate Blanchett is, I have to point out that this attitude is exactly what Ricky Gervais was talking about. When you're at the top of the celebrity food chain it's real easy to say whatever you want and be taken seriously almost no matter what. If you're big in hollywood you aren't marginalized, period, and that's the problem. Professors, scientists, small time business owners, and religious leaders are the ones people should be taking advice from, not people who make their living by entertaining and just being famous.
The problem with that thinking is the assumption that people who aren't in fields worthy of advice-giving, were never good enough for those fields. Which is simply not true. Yea, celebrities get an unfair amount of megaphone time but dismissing each and every one of them is hardly the answer. Conversely, you have absolute gits working in fields of science and business who should be pelted with whatever's on hand, every time they utter a word.
Vegemite was the worst food for me at first. Then, my Aussie cousins made it for me the right way. They toasted the bread just right, crispy, but soft in the middle, spread butter, and a tiny bit of the vegemite. It tasted like black bean paste for me, but with more fermentation. It tasted savory, and salty. It was pretty good, and I crave it sometimes.
I can imagine being starstruck in her presence. She emanates an aura a part of which can be traced as back to playing Galadriel. That character was powerful. Love Cate Blanchett.
From her oratorial performance in Elizabeth, to her silent appearance in the recent music video for Massive Attack's "The Spoils", Cate never fails to show us how very seriously the takes acting as a fine art. Also damn that vagina joke was funny as hell; spit my drink out!
my aunt was an immigrant down under working as a cleaning lady in theatre, she used to tell me that in person she was the most beutifull woman she ever saw... she is intelligent and so nice, and i do think and hope she is good hearted... i enjoy her videos and political views... epecially now we are under pandemic and can;t go out
I have yet to see all her movies, late adopter if you may but her role as Carol, in Carol perfectly encapsulated her aura and beauty. If you haven't seen it, call in sick tomorrow, streaming on Netflix. Rooney Mara was a good counterpart as well but Blanchett absolutely stole every scene.
To me, the vagina joke is a light-hearted and a bit naughty way to refer to a mother's love which is to give and expect nothing in return unselfishly. This kind of love, of course, can be held by a man as well. That's humanity and kindness.
Jean L it's truer than it is naughty. In fact I don't think that it is naughty at all. It's the perfect answer to get her point across which represents not only motherhood but her values as a woman sexually and otherwise.
Yea I think that was a personal question and people really expect her to be a saint so that just back shot in a way. And he asked her with her whole name..
She ate at a restaurant I worked at. She wasn't wearing makeup and was eating pizza with her 2 boys.. She is RADIANT! ☉
Renita so jealous man
She was wearing (light) make up. All women wear make up when they're out in public. But yes, she's a beautiful woman.
No, not all women wear makeup all the time when they are in public, not even celebs.
Certainly not all women wear makeup...I only wear it to weddings or other formal events.
***** I was there and am a woman soo...
She is so classy. witty and sophisticated. More importantly weird in a charming way.
shes an Aussie!
She is a freak of nature
What j v said. It's an Australian trait.
She is seducing all the time
Rich people aren't weird, they are eccentric 😃
Cate will always be my crush and favorite actress. She has such grace, elegance, and intelligence.
Two Thumbs? This Guy. And humor as well! ❤
Me too!
Dichotomy & Balance and she seems very pro- "vag -emite. Sorry, oh my ride's here, Bye!
I love her
Such grace, elegance, and intelligence: its in my vagina.
That "Coz there is only 8 women working in Hollywood" it was soooo spontaneous, so natural, she is a huge critic of how the amount of women shown in Hollywood are little talented compared to the ones that are truly talented and have worked hard to get there.
HaZeL Rutherford Right?! I was thinking she was so quick with that response. V witty.
She loves Hollywood!
And actually, she simplified the truth, cuz 2 of the 8 women are actually singers...
that's not what she meant
I think what she meant was acting is a male-dominated industry but it could also be what you said.
If you told me she was a real life demigod I would believe you immediately. Love her so much!
lmao
Daughter of Athena i reckon
Did you know she is a real life demigod
Lmfao, now seeing this comment after she's played a full on god.
She is the godess of death-
Frankly, I would watch a two hour film of Cate Blanchett eating supper.
Creamed spinach with poached eggs
then you should see "Manifesto"
I would too, but not in public. She really gets my .... moral compass ... going.
@@bridersurris904
Haha people are funny
I would watch a film of her applying Vegemite to the bread
She has a great oratory skills, always on point.!
great oratory skills.....I love that in a woman.
Just finished watching this and realised that I had been smiling constantly for 9 minutes. She is so damned charming.
"I'm not going to go into the Galadriel thing". Stephen you're a Tolkein hero.
Brandon Carroll Watch Liv Tyler as his guest... it was a joy to see him in that state
@@highlyfavored2434 Yes, his geekiness knew no bounds in that interview, and Liv was just wonderful with him, plus she gave him her sword!
With the possible exception of Emma Thompson, I can't think of another actress who is as witty, charming and intelligent.
ozvoyager a joined interview would broke the net.
Sarah Paulson
Julie Andrews
Anna Kendrick
Anne Hathaway
Kristen Bell
Diane Keaton
...
The list goes on and on.
Well
..there are only 8 actresses in Hpllywood.
Judy Dench
Yes, she is stunning but her personality is insanely awesome. I loved seeing a little bit of her in this interview. What an awesome human being!
This interview was such a delight to watch! Cate is so well-spoken, witty and intelligent, it is fascinating to listen to her and Stephen matches her intellectually plus allows her to talk (as interviewers should!), it was awesome.
Who wouldn't get Blanchett-struck?
She's phenomenal in every way!
I love Cate Blanchett. So funny, intelligent, thoughtful, articulate and beautiful and a wonderful actor.
I love that every time she is asked a simple question, she angles it towards something so profound and intelligent, that even Colbert loses track. :D
"it's in my vagina." priceless! she is awesome.
did not anticipate that
Considered her to be someone who could actually make a profound point and expected her to do that when she was asked a good question. Turns out it's Hollywood all over again. Shallowest part of the interview.
Aw c'mon, you pansies! As if you haven't thrown a ridiculous answer to a very serious question in your life.
Before watching the interview: "Couldn't love her more if I tried."
After watching: "I LOVE HER EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE!"
I love Cate Blanchett, she is the best actress in the world! She is so talented, gorgeous, humble and funny! #QueenCate
скромной..?!.я бы не сказала..!
the subtitles of your comment is that being best actress "of the world" means that everything what she vomit is good!
if you knew that all kings and all queens were facist!
If you don't like it, "R C", you can move to Russia.
Спасибо!! я и так в России!
4:49 The way she said "that's me!" just melts my heart so much! She is so charming!
Newfound respect for Cate Blanchett, I'm a little jealous of how happy and successful she is at promoting such positive cultural discourse, but so glad to see it can happen. Brilliant interview.
Such a fine actress and a beautiful woman to boot
Lennie Godber to boot?
"to boot" an alternative expression for "as well".
Lennie: you must a fellow Canadian. ;)
He thinks you can have sex and and money same time with her.
Let’s face it, the English and Australian do not pay their actors well.
shes so intellegent and witty honestly, and i love how she said bananar
.
hello man wkwkwk
lol that's common even for Brits
would love to hear her read the Yellow Pages, anything at all would be fine by me ❤
pretty sure she looks incredibly beautiful right out of her bed at 6 am.
Ya, i kinda hate it when beautiful women do that--say it's all in the makeup. Men own their looks--women have the right to, too.
@@cathyfreeze3381 It’s called being humble
Agreed. Dirty pajamas do not make a person less beautiful! Heck, I think I'm beautiful in the morning. I know she is 😅❤
She and Kate Winslet are tied for my favorite actresses. She is amazing!
Boobalopbop same! And I also love Margot
I love her to death but since Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 2, every time I hear someone saying she's a great actress, in the back of my mind there's Tituss going: "Is she? Or is she just tall?"
HAHAHAHHAA me too!!!
Karloss Coletti haha. Me too! Just saw Thor and Titus' voice keeps popping: "is she? Or is she just tall?" 😂😂😂
the only time i ever hated titus. no one steps on the queen
I laughed very hard on this
OMG SAMEEEEE
I agree with Kate; we Americans have been 'sold on sugar'--it's in our bread, our meat, everything. My wife was from Europe, and she taught me that. Bread should not have sugar; neither should meat.
But yeast
@tech four9 yeah but don't use that sauce everyime you eat meat. Wait do you??
Well were not living on a diet of sugar here in Europe, were living on fat.
Um.. but yeast needs to feed off the sugar to grow. It’s a fungus.
From México: strooooongly disagree
Most beautiful, most self-possessed, well-spoken and brilliant woman working in film today.
Aw man Cate Blanchett is a fucking superstar! "There's only 8 women working in Hollywood" "In my vagina" you are fucking magnificent Blanchett!!
Cate is the definition of elegance
HeikkiP Yeah but more than that ...
Wow she has incredible charisma. I'm genuinely impressed by her presence!
Never would've thought how funny Cate is. She appears to be a diva, but very down to earth at the same time.
She is one of my all time faves. Such a great actress and seems like such a wonderful woman with a great sense of humor.
He is a really good host. I love his respectful and witty and funny talking. Means he is fun, witty and not disrespectful
Cate is one of the SEXIEST women ever. She has a unique look and she's stunning.... but its really her intelligence and character that make her wayyy sexier than any other living actress...
Fucking facts
Her answer is still one of the best answers to a interviewer’s question.
Love her as an actress and really LOVE the way she spells her name!
Man I been loving her for so long! How can she be all in one? Beautiful, smart and funny!
"Believe it or not, I don't wake up like this"
This regal beauty is so damn humble.
Absolutely beautiful, inside and out. I didn't know she had such a great sense of humor lol
Blanchett = highly under rated.
The woman has two Oscars and one of the best careers of any actress ever and you think she's underrated? Hilarious!
I think she's well appreciated in the film business but not necessarily by the audiences. Only actual film lovers.
Huh? She was part of one of the most successful movie franchises ever - Lord of The Rings. The audiences are appreciating her just FINE.
Robert's Art Studio Under rated? She's Hollywood's sweetheart, who doesn't love that ethereal woman. Maybe from the audience but definitely not unrecognized in her work.
Good grief, how on earth is this woman "underrated" in light of all of the accolades and media attention she receives?
She reminds me of a classic Hollywood actress. A true movie star.
Ok some people in the comments don't get her, but i get her, and she's fucking amazing.
There is something about Cate Blanchet. I was hooked since the very first time I acknowledged of her existing.
That voice! I could listen to her speak forever and ever, and ever, and ever.
She is beautiful, she is elegant, she is funny and she is so friendly that me, a teenager who is 32 years younger than her, finds her attractive. Such a fan of her.
I love when she jokingly gets up to leave and the audience goes "NO"
Beautiful in every way. Intelligent, articulate, superb actor, genuine and absolutely gorgeous!! Those cheekbones!!
I never realized how down to earth she was. She’s gorgeous, hilarious, smart & talented.
I LOVE her. So happy I've had the chance to catch her on stage in Australia...
That's where MY humanity & compassion live, too!
You rock Cate, love how open and upfront you are - a wonderful Aussie trait :D
Intelligent and witty.
She is so humble and down to earth..
Seriously one of my all time favorite actresses
Cate Blanchet, Kate Winslet and Julianne Moore are the best actresses of her generation.

I feel stephen has a slight fascination for cate, but he can never handle her as a spouse.....
@Sebastian Stormborn To him she will always be Galadriel...
these 2 are always so GREAT together! bless!
I like that twinkle in her eyes.

If I drinking water, I think I'm choking.🤣
I can imagine being starstruck in her presence. She emanates an aura a part of which can be traced as back to playing Galadriel. That character was powerful. Love Cate Blanchett.
How did this woman not only get unearthly beauty but also brains. It's unfair.
Omg biggest OWO the way her voice changes at 4:51 with her "that's me"!!! aaaaaa so cute
Hugh Jackman demonstrated how to properly eat vegemite on toast on Jimmy Fallon, s'onthetube
Dave Smith did he just throw the jar in the garbage and eat the toast?
i just ADORE her deep voice... for some reason it makes her seem more elegant and classy
Loved her response to the last question; I was expecting something along the lines of "Because eight women can do the same work as eleven men."
I love her interviews, she is always funny and intelligent
She and Stephan good combo to listen to 😁
Did y'all notice Stephen turning different shades of red hearing her?😂😂😂😂

Man I love Stephen because he's attracted to the same women I am lol he loves LOTR too I knew he had to at least bring up Galadriel
its kindda suffocating seeing women like her you can never have.
In India we have women like that but expected to behave.
So meh.
She and Rooney Mara should be in every interview

She's so smart, I love her.
Cate Blanchett is majestic. Can’t think of a better word to describe this radiant woman.
This woman is a unique treasure.
One of the most beautiful, poised and alluring women to ever grace any stage and screen. Wonderfully multi talented,
Both Colbert and Blanchett are gems ♥️
She is an extraordinary person and actress !!
I love this woman so much!!!

Cate’s so talented and stunning like always♥️
Love her! As an actress AND a woman. She can do anything. classy lady.
"cause only eight woman are working on Hollywood" hahaha
What did that mean I didn't understand
I can't get enough of her voice
To me, the vagina joke is a light-hearted and a bit naughty way to refer to a mother's love which is to give and expect nothing in return unselfishly. This kind of love, of course, can be held by a man as well. That's humanity and kindness.
Jean L it's truer than it is naughty. In fact I don't think that it is naughty at all. It's the perfect answer to get her point across which represents not only motherhood but her values as a woman sexually and otherwise.
I think she was just doing a Sarah Silverman impression.
Jean L
It is a beautiful analogy but I don't think she ment it that way
Yea I think that was a personal question and people really expect her to be a saint so that just back shot in a way. And he asked her with her whole name..
Your interpretation is impressive and I think this is exactly what Cate meant. She is well-read and will have better throw at words than most of us.
